      @@MatchFishingFilms Joe any chance you and Rob could run through pinging with catapult on pole and how you tailor catapults to only reach certain distances please

    Great content, Joe! Could this method be used if tying a shock leader to mono mainline or would you try something more effective?

    Got a couple of questions now I’ve thought about it, if you don’t mind joe, can see the idea of the 1mtr shocker, first question is, would this be considered a free running rig on venues where that is the rule, even though the swivel would stop at the knot that joins the shocker to the braid?
    Second question, what distance would you go to with this rig before you changed to a pattenoster/ helicopter rig?

    Are you putting a loop on the end of your shockleaders for storing on a spool then cutting loop off when you want to tie one on?

    Hi Joe, would this shockleader knot be strong enough to use with a fluorucarbon leader as well ? Cheers.

    I’ve done this quite a few times recently Joe. I feel that this isn’t that strong for me. Although, by doing this knot with a ‘tuck’ before pulling tight it makes it much stronger.
    Do you have anything against the simple 3 turn water knot? I’m thinking of going back to using it in all honesty. I guess it’s a confidence thing at the end of the day.

      Lee Kerry loves it but I find it a real faff to change. Also I do a lot of lure fishing using braid to a fluorocarbon leader and when I get snagged a three turn water knot always break instantly so I'm not sure how strong it is

    Hi Joe, would this be okay for thin mono (4-5lb) to 12lb mono? Thinking for long distance method work?

    Hi Joe excellent vid. This sort of answers a question I have just asked on the last Q&A session. I fish for bream at about 40m and would like to try using braid. Most vids by experts say to have a few turns of leader on the reel, but on the Q&A Des said that he uses 1m like you have just mentioned. Will I get away with 1m at the distances I am fishing? Many Thanks Keep Safe

      Yes for sure. I only really use longer shockers for carp now 👍

    • @MatchFishingFilms
      @MatchFishingFilms  Рік тому +1

      Depends what situation. Shockleader is for casting and powergum is for fish playing

      @@MatchFishingFilms And i guess if the we are fishing in a current or no. If i want to cast in a river i should use shock leader. But for example lake or shorter distance fishing for bigger fish such as carp, power gum. Right?

    Hi Joe, I use a loop tier for the loop in the braid, this obviously produces a smaller loop. Have you found the length of loop dictates in anyway how smooth it passes through the eyes?

    • @MatchFishingFilms
      @MatchFishingFilms  4 роки тому +2

      Hi David, I always preferred a longer loop as I felt it was more flexible. Total bro science though, just use what you have faith in :)

    Joe if you only have a 1 meter shock leader surely it's not on the reel therefore you could crack off especially if you are as clumsy as me cheers Gary

    • @MatchFishingFilms

      Not if you use the knot tied well :) I wouldn't use it for extreme distance work but it is surprisingly strong

    This knot wont survive 12kg carp runs, better use loop to loop ....
