I've Just hit the subscribe button as requested. Another brilliant vid Joe and I seriously think you have taken paste fishing to the next level and it's because of your vids I've used paste to brilliant effects. You have honestly transformed and helped my fishing. Thanks again
I started using paste around 40 years ago. My tackle shop was selling trout pellets in little bags for 50p. I crushed the pellets up to a powder and add a little water to form a paste which stayed on the hook without a pole pot. Won a lotta club matches !! Gonna try your method soon. Good stuff, cheers.
Thanks Joe, I’ve only started using paste in my mid 70’s and never quite cracked it yet. I will give this a go as I know from watching mates how successful paste is. One lake I fish is only about 2’ deep but has a good head of carp up to 17Lbs and now it’s warming up and they have spawned should hopefully get some nice fish. I’ll share your video with my friends. I love it when anglers tell it like it is because they are not sponsored. Well done again
Well Joe the secret is out being a paste Head. I've used that mix to this day for the day the original proper Thatchers ground bait hit the market has silly bait blue when Barry Gregory showed me all them years ago at Woodlands Thirsk. I live in Reading now and hold three lake records with my paste . Keep them coming. Joe can you do a in depth one on where fish may be sitting in the thermal layers summer and winter months please.
Great video Joe and great tips. I do like the Sonu 1 to 1 paste as it’s nice and easy to make 😂 Which hook do you use for paste fishing? Seen you mentioned a size 10 in the Nufish vid
i make up mine with a two tins and sweetcorn and use the juice as well.. and put them in a old food processor and blitz it into a pulp.. and then take it out and put it in the fridge and then in old food processor blitz up loads of pellets and boilies into a powered and mix then both together and its make it hard paste then add little water to lossen it up and add some bread crums.. that will make it just enought to stay on your hook for a few casts but not tough that you put it on your hook
Joe. Been having problems with my Paste consistency will be giving this method a go. if you keep the paste in an air tight tub how long will it keep. Cheers
The best paste days I've had have been on top of hemp. Got some wheat gluten before they sold out after this vid. Will make some up for this w/e. For paste fished shallow do you just add a bit more gluten & paste powder? Thanks
Interesting you should mention red paste being extra good. Just been watching some of Rob Hughes underwater films (again!) he did for Fox, Matrix and Dynamite. So that whole 'red' bait is best as a standout in our green algae-tinted summer lakes and ponds and Rob's 'colour wheel' is fresh in my head. One of my go to hookbaits is a bloodworm band'um wafter. That sort of deep blood or burgundy red seems to work best. Its a little bit more subtle than bright crimson.
Joe you say you are using an eyed hook but tying it like a spade hook. Could I ask if you are putting the line through the eye prior to tying it like a spade.
Last time I used paste it came in a small clear tub with a white lid, can't remember the brand or anything, but it was at least 20 years ago! It was proper stringy though from what I do remember, more like pizza dough.
For red with no flavour I use Preema red food colour (500g). Started using it 30+ years ago to colour brown crumb in Ireland. You only need a little to colour meat , groundbait and hands !
Hi mate maybe when your not to busy😊you could do a instructional video on how to set up the paste floats etc,as althe videos are of floats with eyes.many thanks tightlines.
I didn’t think of fish meal content within a paste groundbait. But I can say that special G is finer than swimstim green - or there’s far less shards when you sieve it at least. Interesting video and I still hate paste. I’m garbage at it
I always tend to fish my paste when it's literally dripping off the hook, if you aint had a bite within a minute im feeding the peg then, never had success with a harder paste or paste that stays on the hook for a longish period of time
followed this recipe to the letter last week then added a bit of sensate red powder to the mix and fished shalla waggla in the margins and had well over 300lb of carp and eide in 7 hours......1 tennis ball size used..3 more in the freezer...cheers bud
Possibly I know a few folk use red bull. Worth trying for sure. Yea much better. Still have up too many shots but was better having amrabat in the No6 so Bruno and kobbie could roam
I haven’t tried but I’ve been told others have. My own experience with freezing pellets before is they lose their binding power so maybe paste would do the same. Worth trying though
Maybe when your not mad busy you could do instructional video showing how you set the paste floats up etc,as there's no videos showing float setup without eyes. Thanks joe
Here's what I took away from this EXCELLENT INSIGHT...... 4 "heaped" pots of sieved groundbait ---> 2 "level" pots of wheat gluten ---> 6 pots of plain water or "dyed" water. ** 250ml pole cup = 1 pot ** Mix in a plastic cake mixing bowl (available at the "rainforest" store) - no corners / more consistent paste mix. Final amount of paste = approx. 5 pints - plenty for a bagging session. Thanks Joe.
I have noticed that the wheat gluten isn’t as strong this year as last! On clarksons farm then mention the wheat not being up to quality for pasta doughs and I wonder if the poor weather last summer weakened the stringyness (not a real word I know). I was definitely using less of it in my mixes last summer
I've used wheat gluten but you have to be careful with hoe much you use as it gets very stringy, now days I use gram flower as it binds the thatchers but doesn't turn it into rubber 🎣
Thanks Joe. I'll definitely be mixing that on my next session.
More great content and info. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Your channel deserves more subs. All the best Pete 👍🎣
:) thanks for watching
Fantastic video Joe, you certainly put the effort and hours in 😊
🤟🏻
Brilliant Joe as ever and thanks mate
🤟🏻
Great content as usual Joe I am going to try paste this year for the first time and see how I get on with it 🎣🎣🎣
Good luck!

Great video joe with the thatchers you have sieved off you could always put the larger particles in a grinder do you think.
You definitely could 👍🏻
I had some fibe paste but ran out now this has helped me thanks Joe

Funnily enough my friend ground me some fishery pellets up last week to try… I said to him it needs some trouties added! Fish love those!
awesome mate the secrets out thanks for your great content
No problem 👍

Just started using Blake’s baits fine carp mix with the gluten in and I love it!
Bet that’s a cracking paste
Great tips again Joe well done and thank you. With respect to the Sensate, do you think its the colour or the pongy smell that works better?
The colour but if it adds a bit of smell then it can’t do any harm when the margins are heavily coloured
Special G Gold is my goto for Paste.
Funnily enough I’ve grabbed a bag to have a play with as my shop was out of thatchers

That silly bait was awesome!!!
Nice 1 joe the mix is 3 to 1, just experimented and also used tiger fish shaker from sonubaits it's awesome paste
Great little video 💥👏
👍🏻
Great video Joe and great tips. I do like the Sonu 1 to 1 paste as it’s nice and easy to make 😂 Which hook do you use for paste fishing? Seen you mentioned a size 10 in the Nufish vid
a 10 guru pellet waggler
Great video on how to prepare paste correctly Joe
Thanks 👍
My go to mix is special g green mixed 1 pint of water with 500ml of powder usually perfect
Nice 👍🏻

Do you feed anything else other than the paste ? Brilliant video definitely going to give it a try. Ordered some gluten.
I use hemp, micros and groundbait. groundbait in the margins and then hemp/micros in open water
Joe. Been having problems with my Paste consistency will be giving this method a go. if you keep the paste in an air tight tub how long will it keep. Cheers
I’d be happily using it still after three or four days 👍🏻
I use Special G with wheat gluten mixed the night before. Gold or green work very well.
I’ve just grabbed a bag of special g to try as my shop has no thatchers
The best paste days I've had have been on top of hemp. Got some wheat gluten before they sold out after this vid. Will make some up for this w/e.
For paste fished shallow do you just add a bit more gluten & paste powder? Thanks
I haven’t done any paste shallow since starting to use it so I’m intrigued to see if it works
Interesting you should mention red paste being extra good.

Yes I’m not sure why but once the water gets churned up the red works very well
The paste daddy. ! Thanks Joe. 🐳👍
No problem 👍
Thanks
No, thank you for the support :)
How long will it keep for once made up? Also could you tell me where to buy the wheat gluten you use from.
I’m not sure, but I know miracle paste keeps well and some anglers swear by leaving it a few days before use
Joe you say you are using an eyed hook but tying it like a spade hook. Could I ask if you are putting the line through the eye prior to tying it like a spade.
You’ve got it 💪🏻
Thanks, Jo, I was still messing around with the gluten quantities. Onto a winner now.
👍🏻

There were lots of ready made back then. I remember using a sensas one years ago that resembled playdoh 😂 a far cry from what I use now
Nice video Joe.
👍🏻
Great video Joe! I’ve heard of people adding yeast and warm water, have you come across such madness?
I have actually and am sure it would work well 👍🏻
For red with no flavour I use Preema red food colour (500g). Started using it 30+ years ago to colour brown crumb in Ireland. You only need a little to colour meat , groundbait and hands !
I’ll check it out :)
Hi mate silly question but where do you get your vital wheat gluten from
Amazon 👍🏻
great vid as normal Joe. is there a certain depth where you would or would not use paste in the margin?
I’ve got a video going live on the NuFish channel today where I run through depths etc. will be well worth checking out
ua-cam.com/video/8ZgQVMrVHqc/v-deo.htmlsi=I1vL8yBOTkH9Qr5g
Hi Joe, so where do you get wheat gluten from - supermarket or tackle shop?? I've not seen it anywhere (or even looked)
I get it from Amazon
Thx Joe, top man, can you please tell me the name of the wheat glutton.
It’s called vital wheat gluten
Top maat
Thanks Joe , so open with your best ideas and mixes , don't know another top angler that helps like this .👍
🤟🏻
I use wheat gluten as well started using it last year
Great stuff

Yes I have grabbed a bag to check out and it seems excellent
Where do you get your wheat glutton from JOE been trying to get glutton for a couple of years unsuccessfully unless you want to buy a sackfull
Can get it on amazon, be here tomorrow :)
Thanks Joe, I have been looking for gluten for sale in supermarkets can't find it.... any ideas where to buy it please
I use Amazon as I’ve yet to find it in a shop! Although I’ve been told some holland and barretts have it
Thanks Joe..
Great videos content as well.. 😊
Is this mix ok to freeze if not used on session? Or bin it? Thanks btw 👍🎣
I haven't tried but I am going to
very clever Mr Carass
🤟🏻
@@MatchFishingFilms do you do coaching Joe?
@@JeffOrtega33 I don’t Jeff, maybe one day.

I fish it very wet 👍🏻
How long will it last in the fridge between sessions?
I’d happily use it a few days later as long as it didn’t smell sour
subscribed cus your gr8 m8
What would be the best feed to put in ie hemp pellets etc?
I like hemp 👍🏻
Do you still put hemp in as feed Joe if the bottom is very silty
Yes I love hemp 👍🏻
joe what's full name of that ground bait for paste
Sonubaits thatchers

Wow!!!
Would this mix work if you used red bull as the liquid? What did you think of our performance against Newcastle?. .

Green swimstim is the best try that joe
It was all I used once but the last time I tried it I thought it had changed a lot
Where can you get wheat gluten from Joe.
Amazon or health food shops
Hi joe. Can you freeze it
I haven’t tried but I’ve been told others have. My own experience with freezing pellets before is they lose their binding power so maybe paste would do the same. Worth trying though
Hi hello Joe what did you say the die is called and we’re would I buy it from thank you 🤩 Joe is the thatchers a ground bate ????
Yea a Groundbait and it’s the fjuka red sensate dye
Ok 👍 thank you Joe can you buy the red dye from a Fishing tattoo shop? Thank you
Fishing tackle shop
Hi Joe I've just purchased your new jc paste floats, there's no eyes in the floats??? I'm confused please help Joe as I'm new to paste fishing
The body comes off the stem and the line is threaded through the body rather than using a side eye
Thanks pal.
Maybe when your not mad busy you could do instructional video showing how you set the paste floats up etc,as there's no videos showing float setup without eyes. Thanks joe
Bonjour,
Pouvez- vous me donner le nom du colorant rouge
D 'avance merci

It is the FJUKA sensate red dye
Hi Joe. Is it the thatchers original
Yes 👍🏻
Here's what I took away from this EXCELLENT INSIGHT......
4 "heaped" pots of sieved groundbait ---> 2 "level" pots of wheat gluten ---> 6 pots of plain water or "dyed" water.
** 250ml pole cup = 1 pot **
Mix in a plastic cake mixing bowl (available at the "rainforest" store) - no corners / more consistent paste mix.

Nice one joe, I alternate between special G and thatchers as a base.
Steve Gregory’s miracle paste is also brilliant, it has the gluten already in it.
Yea I reckon that miracle paste is the best commercially available paste mix 👍🏻
