A Southern lady can cut you off at the knees with a smile and a few words of warning. Loretta epitomized that in her music. Be a lady, but don't be a fool. RIP Loretta 🙏🕊🩶
Loretta had a lot of songs that were not looked upon as being kosher back in the day. Check out "You Ain't Woman Enough" and "The Pill" for a couple of others.
Another banned from radio song from Loretta Lynn. Others include: RATED X, WINGS UPON YOUR HORNS, and her favorite song...THE PILL. Banned from radio play, but top of the charts for record sales!!
Loretta with the OG diss track! Loretta didn’t just break barriers in country music, she blew them the f*** up! From women’s rights, to hugging Charlie Pride at the awards show when she was told not to stand next to him because it wouldn’t look good for a white woman to be seen with a black man. When he won that award she whispered in his ear, “Tell them to kiss your black ass, honey” She was a legend, and her greatest achievements might’ve been outside of the 100’s of hit songs she wrote. You should listen to Van Lear Rose album that was produced by Jack White. Also, find videos of him talking about her. He loved her like his own mother
Listen to You Ain't woman enough to take my man. Our sweet country gangster. LOL One thing she owns the town she lived in. The woman in this song was a teacher or bus driver and not only was she telling Loretta's kids she was going to be their new mommy but she was telling Loretta's friends as well
It`s not smart to get on the bad side of these sweet little hillbilly girls. And don`t let the smile fool you. That`s the same smile a cat has when it`s ready to pounce on a mouse. And you DO NOT want to be that mouse. 🙂
Obviously, you don't know about LORETTA LYNN'S LIFE. She wrote most of the songs she sang and recorded...based on her REAL life. This song is based on an actual event involving a scholl bus driver and Loretta Lynn's daughter (who came in crying one afternoon). The school bus drover was messing around with Loretta's husband, and told the daughter that she was about to be the daughter's "new Mommy". Loretta laid hands on the school bus driver and took her to Fist City. She beat the brakes off that woman. When she says "detour around my town", she's referring to Hurricane Mills, Tennessee...LORETTA LYNN BOUGHT THAT TOWN IN 1965 AS A PACKAGE DEAL WHEN SHE BOUGHT HER MANSION AND RANCH. Nothing corny about this song...this was her LIFE. What's corny for real, though, is she's performing this song on a "Television Country Variety Show" called HEE HAW (from the 1960s-1990s), that was set in a place they called Kornfield County. It exaggerated and mocked country life, hence the dancing pigs. However, some of the biggest names in country entertainment were on or guests on that show. Of you want to really laugh at some HEE HAW cheesiness, try getting drunk and watching an episode or two...you'll be rolling! Trust me...I've done it! Lol.
I ACKNOWLEDGE MISS LORETTA WAS A FUN LADY TO SHOP WITH..... AND SHE WAS TRUE TO HER WORD.... ALL THE WAY TIL HER DEATH.... SHE DIDN'T PUT UP WITH MUCH EXCEPT FOR HER SON AND HIS BS...... BUT.... THAT'S A MOM.

Loretta's little girl came home crying after her bus driver told her she was going to be her new mommy. This inspired her to write this song.
True story. Loretta held that grudge until her dying day!

@@michaelfarmer9472 yes I know about her life. The songs are still corny.
This song is not trite, banal, or mawkishly sentimental. Therefore it does not meet the definition of corny.
