His timing is perfection. One of his tours, he always did a bit where he was a four or five piece band. The stage was in total darkness, except for a spotlight on a part of the stage where Lee would be miming playing an instrument, then the instrument would change and he would appear in another part of the stage "playing" a different instrument. I've seen all his comedy tours, except for the last one. He always does a musical number, normally at the end of the show

I remember me and my sister memorised this entire routine and now every time we hear ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’, we just end up performing this. And we’re both in our 30s now, yet this song makes us act like we were still teenagers.

I've been to see Lee Evans live during his "Big" Tour. He's just brilliant. He always does an encore like this, or where he sings and plays piano instead. He's a very talented man.

This was the routine that brought him to the forefront of British comedy, but this is about the third iteration of the routine. It evolved over the years, but there was a rawness and originality to the first performance (or at least the first to be shown on TV) that will always make it my favourite.

I remember going to see Lee Evans at the O2 arena in London with a friend of mine. When he finished he went off stage but came back for this routine people were already leaving thinking it was over and not realising he would do this . I said to my friend don't move your gonna love this (cause i knew what was coming).
Ive always loved his comedy such a shame he retired so early in his career but a combination of his manager passing away and wanting to see his family grow up he stepped away from the limelight.
Wish he would come back for a few shows they would sell out instantly.

I got to see Lee live, when he first came on the comedy scene and there were so many other famous comedians in the audience it was absolute magic. I wish he'd come out of retirement. Absolute legend.

I was lucky enough to see him perform live twice and both times he did this as an encore because it is so popular among his fanbase. He first came up with it when he was asked to do a short performance in France, not speaking the language he had to come up with something they would understand so he created this. He would also end his live shows by performing one or two original songs he composed which were always brilliant. Some of my favourites are, I'm a failure (might not be the actual title), 3 second memory and 6ft underground

In an interview when he first started out he said he modelled himself on Norman Wisdom, I saw Lee in a very funny film called Mousehunt which was very reminiscent of Norman Wisdom Films back in the 50s and 60s.

Unfortunatly some of his best are not on youtube like his "how to be a comic" sketch but if you search up his Live in scotland drum routine that is also really great. @RegenerationNationTV Hey guys, I’ve not seen you react to Bill Bailey yet, have I? He’s been famous for at least 20 years now and does brilliant musical comedy, while being a phenomenal musician, surprisingly good dancer and all-round intelligent and nice guy. The one routine that leaves me unable to breathe for laughter , although unfortunately lacking any of his musical comedy, is his description of meeting his hero, Paul McCartney. I’ve seen a few American reactions to it, but you are my favourite reactors, so I’d love to see what you make of it.

    • @markthomas3130

    • @thinkingaboutit2991

@@markthomas3130 I know Jess and Mike would absolutely LOVE him, and there is so much great content on UA-cam with him, including WILTY, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, my favourite anecdote ever told on The Graham Norton Show (about a goose on The Mall in London) and standup that occasionally leaves me unable to breathe too (anyone else remember his sleigh ride in Lapland?). There are one or two other British comedians I wish they'd react to (including Joe Wilkinson and Romesh Ranganathan), but Bill Bailey is THE biggest black hole in their coverage.

His way of communicating with the French coz he couldn’t speak French so he came up with something that the French would understand. His words, not mine. Classic. Old UK variety scene done to perfection, with Norman salutes thrown in at the double.
But sorry no, while also dealing in degrees of daftness, in essence Lee's complex and wonderfully bizarre creations are on many whole different levels from Kramer, whom it has to said, regardless, I still absolutely adore.
This was never a go to comedic style for me, at least until seeing Lee, a modern master in physical comedy, perform live. Wonderful, not a single person in the room could help themselves but grin silly and properly laugh
