🤔 NEW HERE? 🤔
Hi! My name is Christopher Odd and I’ve been playing video games on the internet for a few years. I really enjoy a variety of games but generally lean towards games with a unique and engaging story (Bioshock, The Witcher, Cyberpunk 2077, The Last of Us etc), strategy/roguelike games (XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, Darkest Dungeon, etc), and RPGs (Dark Souls, Elden Ring, Dragon Age, etc). Of course, I am always looking for great indie games too!

If you focused on disarming the hostages and wildstar over doing damage to wildstar you wouldn't get overwhelmed. The next phase is triggered by Wildstars health bar going down to the next level, if you delay those phases it'd be a lot more controllable.

Can I just say that I feel like Doctrine was like the Batman of his team before the heroes were all killed. Who agrees?
Didn't the dialogue say he lost his powers?
Absolutely. Even the colour of his suit (blue with yellow trim) harks back to the 70s Batman cartoon. Cruxus is obviously Superman. Alpha is Deathstroke, Wildstar is a combination Joker, + Professor X's mind control powers and Nightcrawler's teleport. Primax feels like and evil female version of Tony Stark. Crash Damage was a Rhino/Juggernaut knock off.
@@davidwhitfield6025 Wildstar also reminds me of Killgrave/Purple Man. I think his teleport is supposed to be an illusion.
Apart from that I agree. Can't map Seraph on any existing hero yet though. Apart from that you get facet as Collosus, Rebound as Nightcrawler, Weathervane as Storm, Mindfire as Prof. X, Ignis as Pyro and no idea about kinetic (lots of X-Men in there).
i like to think he was their flash, all positivity and optimism, he just all burnt out and bitter
Having facet mercurial crystal wall is the best strategy for this fight , u get overwhelmed quickly when he goes phase 2 & 3 with more brainwashed hostages
It is a really difficult mission to get all the objectives done , the no hostage KO is hard on its own
Kinetic pretty much needed here. The stratey must be built around his disarming ult plus ult recharge.
Could totally see that!
No, the real key is NOT kill wildstar quickly. Focus on killing his goons while disarming civilians and letting them run out. So don't wall off the exit either. If you have disarm 3 on rebound's shadow blast, it's a piece of cake. just have her keep wildstar disarmed and put a shield shard on her each turn. that leaves facet's other action to taunt/disarm as needed, mindfire can disarm 3 targets each round if you keep him and mercurial together and merc can disarm 2 more each time she gets a turn. I had no trouble whatsoever with this.
Yeah Mercurial really is the key to this one, she grants the other heroes new disarm options. Between her disarms and Rebound's AOE disarm, I had all the hostages freed really quickly at the start of every new phase
@@Debbonairbasically what I did as well. I had a bit more trouble because I had Facet tanking at first. Once I started using Shield Shard on Rebound it was easy.
This mission was a pain for me. The key I found was to disarm all the hostages before dealing with Wildstar. Hyperfocusing him just ended up with me being overwhelmed.
yea I was kinda hoping that by defeating him, they would all be released from his mental grasp thing
@@ChristopherOddi tried that way first odd. Then saw they were not released from spell had to fight my way out anyway and failed.
Oh Damn, Odd really lived long enough to see himself become the villain.
He just needs a nap and the war crimes will stop
Did anyone else's like button get highlighted when Ignis said, "Be sure to hit that like button?"
Wrong heroes for the mission. weatherwave was more of a liability than an asset.
Of course, in hindsight, yes
I was gonna say the same lol
My strategy for getting all the optionals on this fight was to have Merc almost always on Wildstar, cause she can disarm his ult on her own, and she's fast enough to stay away from danger most of the time, with the occasional crystal wall to cordon things. I also had Mindfire for his versatility of either doing focused double disarms on influenced or massive damage on WS. Then I had Facet and Rebound dealing with the goons.
Quite an epic one!!! I feel it's really cool that they put the players in a place where they need to make really hard choices. You keep rocking with this series, Odd! Thanks for the hard work!!! 😁
Looked like a really difficult mission. Glad I read some of the comments here. Should be easier once I run through it. Seems like early SP use should be on disarm and stealth damage.
42:35 I wonder if he realised in that moment he could have disarmed the civilian first before unleashing the ultimate
If nothing else this has validated my gut feeling that Weathervane is inappropriate for this mission if you want to avoid collateral damage.
Does Mindfire's shift let him move and shoot twice with focus? You probably could disarm the boss, but sometimes it is difficult to predict range.
I was curious about this too, on the end of that first attempt around 19:54 I was wondering if potentially Mindfire could have done shift -> disarm -> focus -> disarm to get the last two disarm needed on Wildstar. I couldn't tell if it had range. Either way, was interesting to see the approach with different heroes, and to see that they did make sure there are missions where Weathervane's AoE is not always a good thing.
I personally find, that design of the mission suggests the most sufficient play through additional tasks. It's like a little tutorial, for what heroes to choose, and how to approach different scenarios. Missions with knock offs have a connected to it mission and tons of enemies with huge hp pool. Missions of protection make you choose correct targeting of aoe and support skills. Disarm Missions always have a dangerous combinations of armed enemies. Destruction objectives encourage to multitasking while planning the turn. And stealth missions teach to avoid unnecessary enemies and maximize the mechanic with damage opportunities. But it always requires a skill to learn and readjust to circumstances if you are attentive and careful enough. It definitely requires practice. I would suggest hardcore difficulty for those, who already completed the game at least once, to get to know all the mechanics. Else it may be a bit tedious.
...Honestly, I think Weathervane is a liability in this fight. Also, I feel like it might have been more productive to concentrate on 'disarming' the controlled civilians.
If you focus on using his push/pulls instead of chain lightning he's actually pretty great here, they give a lot of disarm at good range
33:48 that Sanction skill says it does not affect next turn actions, so I'm thinking it would only work on opportunity attacks? it's a weird skill
It means it wouldn’t stop ultimates or charge abilities like when the androids automatically shoot heroes in a line. Regular attacks are stopped.
Let’s not disarm the one gunner on the right side of the map, let’s instead pop a storm-ultimate and kill a civilian while failing to KO any baddies OR deal damage to the main villain…
Classic Odd
I really like the disarm mechanic. Is this in other turn-based games?
Great game, waiting my vacation. I`ll play it good!
Great game, keep em coming, and best of luck to you :)
He made the hostages think you were killing innocents... and then you did in fact kill innocents. Hard to free someone from a "false" influence when you prove it right. 😑
Have to say I feel you are a too cavalier with civilian lives (flow over from X-Com?). You really have to be more aware of everything as the campaign progresses. Even the medium missions are going to take a lot more forethought coming up. You can get all the objectives in one play but it does take a lot of careful planning. Weathervane, for me, is not a good choice as his area affect attacks and ultimate are too likely to kill hostages. Rebound was my go to girl here because I had upgraded her abilities to disarm at least twice which kept Wildstar manageable. In fact you will find Rebound is your most important team member for the next few missions. Also from a story perspective the ending should have Mindfire calling Seraph (as he was the only one she had contacted so far).
I too assumed that as soon as Wildstar went down everyone would be free. I almost lost Rebound because of that assumption. Thank goodness for Facet's shield! The logic, I am guessing, is that once Wildstar has tweaked a target's mind it requires a shock to snap them out. Wildstar is not constantly controlling his victims like Professor X or the Leader. It's more placing a thought which overrides all others.
Quicksaves are going to be your friend going forward. Just saying. Good Luck.
The ending is definitely written for Mindfire to call in Seraph 😂. How does Merc know what’s going on with that?
My thought on the wildstar being beaten not curing the hostages is that he isn’t mind controlling them as such, he enraged them and, therefore, he does not need to keep a constant control on them
Escort missions are a pain.
I think you should have taken things more slowly and disarm the civilians before taking the boss's lives
42:32 you could have first had weathervane go in and lightly punch the hostage to free him.
Next patch will have Wildstar’s influence be removed when he’s KOed!
To be honest, it gets worse. When you face teleporting enemies, and those who get multiple attacks, if you don’t disarm, then it starts to feel luck-based. Especially if you have an NPC to protect on top of that, and you can’t control where he goes.
It is a disappointment, to be honest, because many missions are really fun, problem-solving at its finest, and then you get these shit missions where you hope the enemy path correctly, get the “right” initiative, and so on. On a few missions I have played, luck is suddenly an important factor, the thing that makes it difficult.
