It's such a cool design, if they could've incorporated a shock under the seat, where the whole rear support would hinge.. that woulda made this thing amazing!
That's a tempting bike even without a rear suspension, looks awesome, I'm going to keep my eye on in it but it'll probably be priced comparable to the 73 before I can pull the trigger. Good review, when someone gets visibly excited about something that builds a lot of confidence on my end. 👍🏻👍🏻
Wow that actually means alot that you, out of any other reviewer, likes this bike this much. I've def had my eye on this thing coming from a super73 s1 (that I'm pretty sure is my soul bike lol) and I was thinking pretty positively from what I've seen and read so far. I have actually been able to get a little basket on the back of my s1 and and use it for (daily) courier work as well. Seems like this might also work well for that, if I've figured out a way to make the s1 work. Ofcourse acquiring a second battery became the key to the success of that idea. Maybe I wouldn't even need a second battery?
This is next level quality, but I have an e-bike like this (Coast Cycles mid-drive) because it looks like a mini-bike from my youth. This thing is modern looking and really sets the bar much higher than the cheesy on slot of hub-drive e-bikes. Great bike and test.
Did you ever test an Ariel Rider D-Class? I recently got one, but I think the company stopped selling them. That bike, performance wise, blows this one out of the water.
The only worry I have, is that from the video, it looks like the rear derailleur is about 1" away from the ground. I see ground clearance issues from how low to the ground the front/rear sprocket/chain and derailer is...
I just took the plunge Johnny with a Verve 3, BBS02 750V and 48V 17.4 AH samsung celled battery and other parts and tools needed from you. Order #11323. Had to get the charger elsewhere, smart 3 amp. This is going to be fun!
Looks like a nice unit if you lived on a farm or ranch. I am looking forward to my comfort hybrid Verve 3 build. Getting the proper parts and tools from Johnny who has been helpful and prompt. I will cruise the bike trail that is two blocks from the house and runs along Lake Superior to downtown Duluth. I will also haul it out into the boonies and take nature cruises on the gravel roads.
Hi John, Im still not convinced that bike can make 70+ miles range... The website states is a 750 hub motor. It looks cool, no doubt, but Im still looking to order a mid drive from you. What is the average range of a Bafang BBS02 mid drive motor 750w pair with 52v Jumbo Shark?
It's awesome for an e-moped but as an e-bike or e-motorcycle it's an abomonomination. "Off Road" mode seems a generous description as you might encounter hills off road. I actually love the moped, other than the up side down twist shifter & hill climbing. I live on a steep (hub motor burning) hill so at double the power it might get me home. I can't wait to see what this company does in the future because in their first attempt they went for the industry favorite, Super 73, and crushed it.
How the pedalling on this could you pedal this conferrable enough to pedal it 50% lets on pedal assist 2 for cursing and getting a bit of a work out to extend the mile? I know you said it's not really for cycling and legs are spread out. Or would the airel grizzly be better ? love the look AND THANKS FOR YOUR VIDEOS. New to the world of ebike and looking for something that's a great mid all arounder ebike
If this was under 2k it would be something I could go for for that price. But if I have the money to drop $2,700 I'd spend the extra $600 on an Ariel Grizzly. Dual 1000w Bafang motors with 2 batteries(iirc 52v 35ah in total/a 20 and 15ah)and dual suspension. Personally I just enjoy building my own or for others. It's getting cheaper all the time, too. There are frames all over you can snag for cheap. It's actually yard sale time so you might be able to really find a great deal. I picked up a carbon fiber frame for under 100 last summer for a future project so you never know...With kits and batteries flooding the market it's a great time to build your own and save tons of money. Plus you can make sure it's built well. And you can make it ultra waterproof. Though if you buy one of these pre built I'll give a pro tip to make them really waterproof. Use petroleum jelly around all the gaskets and wire connections. Basically any place you want water to slide right off and not sit on. Just a good layer on there works wonders. Just re apply every once and a while or if you think it might rain while out. I've been in huge downpours and the jelly worked amazing.
Just be careful, as petroleum jelly is hard (it will break down) some types of gaskets, rubber, o-rings, and other materials. Out of curiosity, what carbon fiber frame did you find/recommend for your e-bike build?
The frame is solid. It currently has about a 2k motor on it. Maybe a 3k motor would be ok before it destroys itself and everything around it. Including relationships.
Yeah it doesnt make sense registering for going only a few mph higher than the class 3 ebike limit of 28 and locking yourself out of bike lanes and sidewalks.
Loving this abominination! 😅 More battery power, otherwise super nice! Edit: would love this to have cycle by wire tech where you are pedaling on a generator and have the motor add up to 700% power to that.
I made my T20 pretty much that! 56t chainring, 11t-28t epoch freewheel and supposedly 1000w rear wheel and controller, Altus RD, and Kenda Kraze tyres (the ones on this bike). But….. I’m still limited to 48v right now… controller will handle 52v though… so might get a battery made for it… love the design of this though…
If you were the real deal ebike builder you would mod that bike and throw a BBSHD on it and make it a beast. I’m running 750w geared hub with a BBSHD asi controller on my Scrambler bike that is very similar. Now that would be a great review to watch! It’s so sad that all these moto type bikes only come with geared hub motors. Even Super73 began with the BBSHD and scrapped it to hub motors. It’s so disappointing!
you know that when you check your speed on your phone GPS there will be a difference your phone GPS will mark less has speed go up the indicator on the bike is good the one on your phone is not precise enough it will lag sag the faster you go
That is not 2000 watt peak power my ariel rider xclass 52v is 1000w 2000w peak and it would've got up that little hill easily and it tops out at 37 mph. That bike should be made a little faster for that style and speed cuz it would be embarrassing getting left in the dust by lectric xp and other low price ebikes
For the money, its definitely the best emoto bike you’re going to get at 1899 max for pro model. Now Technically its 2700 and the indiegogo price is not only temporarily, but limited in quantity. If you can snag it below $2k, yeah steal. Above? Meh, I rather pay bit more and go onyx route at that point.
From what Ive seen the onyxes deliver in speed but in everything else not great. $4 tires, rear suspension thats basically a hardtail, they cheap out on a lot of stuff, which is i guess why people mod them so much
Registering the bike defeats the purpose of an Ebike in my opinion, I don't want the freakin government in my pocket...And I don't want to financially support anything it does...
It is an abomination regardless. The while idea behind, "Mini-bikes" back in the day was that they are fun BECAUSE you are always on the very edge of control. The short wheel base means it is choppy on rough surfaces. Your butt is right over the rear wheel. Suspension or not, it bounces you around. Fat tires or not, 20" wheels ride rough (ask anyone that owns a folder). Of course those much safer motorcycle tires are far more stiff and ungodly heavy so range is not useful.
It's such a cool design, if they could've incorporated a shock under the seat, where the whole rear support would hinge.. that woulda made this thing amazing!
You did an excellent review on this on.. 10! They were smart letting you do this review.
That's a tempting bike even without a rear suspension, looks awesome, I'm going to keep my eye on in it but it'll probably be priced comparable to the 73 before I can pull the trigger.

Once the indiegogo campain for this is over it will cost like 2700 so if you guys want to get this at its price you gotta be quick if you want it
I wish they would have mounted the battery lower and gave it rear suspension, but with that being said, super cool looking eMoped.
Did you ever test an Ariel Rider D-Class? I recently got one, but I think the company stopped selling them. That bike, performance wise, blows this one out of the water.

Price 10/20/2022 is $2700 US. Speed is too low to keep up with traffic.

You're gonna love it.
Unlock the motor to 1300 watts.
The code on my display is 1919.
My bike hits about 1280 watts with 52v

This bike is on list now. Awesome review thank you
second battery and a bbhsd should get that bike going.

Is either this bike or the revv1 1.
I still haven't made up my mind but so far the revv1 1 is more on the top of my list..
Looks great. I’m short 5 foot. What are the sizing?
Does that bike have a cruise control and how far can you go on it ? How far will it go my man.
Yes it does! I get about 30 miles range
I wonder if there's some kind of way to modify rear suspension for it. That would be good!
How fast were you going uphill on the test?

I am looking for a full suspension aluminum moped style frame...any recommendations?

Out of curiosity, what carbon fiber frame did you find/recommend for your e-bike build?
As someone who pre-ordered this bike I was wondering what the highest motor you would rate this bike frame for
The frame is solid. It currently has about a 2k motor on it. Maybe a 3k motor would be ok before it destroys itself and everything around it. Including relationships.
Do you think a cyclone motor could be installed in this fairly easily ?
I never seen you gush over a hub motor bike... 😂
Don’t count on that happening again😐
@@JohnnyNerdOut We need to design our own frames...full suspension.

when is the single chain cyclone coming back in stock!
Would this bike be easy to mod around with, say like switching the hub motor to midrive?
Yes but then I’d lose the display which I really like 😀
what is indiegogo? can i still purchase it there?
That seat gives my scary stock dr650 seat vibes though. My butt has prsd from dailying on one of those for 3 years.
Register it?
Who, and why would anyone do that to themselves?
Cool bike
Yeah it doesnt make sense registering for going only a few mph higher than the class 3 ebike limit of 28 and locking yourself out of bike lanes and sidewalks.
What I want to know is where do I get a t-shirt like you’re wearing
Could you add a mid drive

I think my T20 has a serial under the bottom bracket…
Suspension?
I don't ride motorcycles but its cool. No hating here. I like they tucked the battery in the frame
Looks like a great commuter bike
It's pretty cool, for the price if you can get your hands on one, definitely better than a 73.
I agree

I’m ordering this bike.. delivery September
How difficult to make that a mid-drive - nice design but the hub motor isn't doing it for me.. jes sayin' - LOL :)
Is there a USB connection for your phone?
Not on the version I got
I like it. Great review👍
Very interesting bike. Almost seems like they wanted it to have rear suspension but decided against it.
Price, they will release another with suspension that cost more.
Oh yeah. I kinda figured. Still a good looking bike at a decent price tho (imo).
I give that bike a no #8 because it mit not have a cruise control feature
Johnny is a wheel man.
my Mario bike with the bbshd looks like this and the 1000w mid-drive is right for a bike like this
