Hello! I think this one is the longest one I ever made! It was a B to edit and render but here it is! This month I have schedule next the Defying Gravity part of this plus some other videos (like the Belting and Riffing one among others) Have a nice day!
Also Samantha Barks who met Idina Menzel and performed Defying Gravity on the BBC and went on to play Elsa on the West End. And Jackie Burns who has understudied Idina in so many things. There’s a whole following in Idina’s footsteps club. Lol 😊
@@laurenconrad1799 - oh, I didn't know Sam played Elsa! I absolutely loved her on that show on BBC, and have been interested in her career since ~ although, I must confess that I haven't been paying all that much attention over the last few years! I'll have to find some clips, or recordings of that. 🙂
Also Caroline Bowman. She played Elphaba and is the original Elsa on the north american tour. And actually so many other Elphies went on to play Elsa too.
14:09 Ock Joo-Hyun will always and forever have my favorite rendition of this song. She delivers with vocals, but adds so much fire and anger to No Good Deed that it makes me believe that she's truly turning 'Wicked'. More often than not people tend to enjoy the better vocalist Elphaba's, and while I love them all, so often the emotion and backstory to these songs gets lost in all of the fancy riffs. Ock kept it original, while also incorporating so much of what this song is meant to symbolize; a turning point where Elphaba truly decides she's going to be wicked.
god the riffs are so good to listen to, but in the context of the show i really love the sustained f5. it's honestly an artful screech but it really makes sense at this point in the show! i like to think that it shows both a climax of elphaba's pain and her power. they're all amazing!! these videos are so fun to put on while im doing homework LOL just listening to "FIYEROOOOOOOOO" over and over again LMFAOOO
Same! She is absolutely my favorite Elphy and tbh she's kinda underrated compared to a lot of them sadly. She deserves so much more attention than she gets, bf from what I've seen she's very slept on
Hannah Corneau in my opinion has the best No Good Deed. Her belt is just so clean and her ascensions to her F5 and D5’s are just so clean! Also she absolutely has the best ‘Fiyero’ before the big riff. Her dynamical contrast beats every other Elphaba! The way she descends at the end is also by far the best and fullest sounding! Her F5 sounds so effortless and mixed properly. Not only that, her acting in this song is impeccable! Asides Corneau, Jessica Vosk, Jackie Burns, Alyssa Fox, and Emmy Raver-Lampmen have some of the best NGD’s! Stephanie J. Block still holds her own against all these amazing riffs! In my opinion, SJB has the best NGD that has no embellishments(not to say embellishments are bad), but there is a beauty to the simplicity of Stephanie’s NGD.
during my sophomore year, my theatre director got us tickets to see wicked at the fox theatre in atlanta and talia suskauer played elphaba that day. one word: IMMACULATE✨
I love the weight of Saycon's voice @2:23: that vibrato is pummeling me in the face and I'm HERE for it! My all-time faves are Saycon (13:40), Rachel Tucker (4:40, 20:09), and Lindsay Mendez. I learned of Alice Fearn through these compilations and I like that her belt sits high so her voice sounds free and unstrained.
@@seangocrazyyy she played Rapunzel in Into the Woods and it’s more of her tone and comfortably! I know a lot of sopranos that don’t have a crazy high belt but can get higher because of where their comfortably lies.

@@xandascharts6901 yep! Many musicals are performed 8 times a week, Hairspray for example is one of those. I'm going to go see Hairspray for a second time while it's on tour soon :)
They're all absolutely amazing, especially Rachel, Jessica, Shoshana, Willemijn, etc. But like- Can we talk about amazing Lindsay Pearce is real quick? She seems like she has pretty damn solid technique, at least from my probably limited knowledge, and she brings a certain kind of intensity to the role that I love
I think Lindsay portrayal of Elphaba is going to be even more powerful with more shows. She had a quite short running as Elphaba, with the virus and everything (she injured herself twice I think)
Saw her recently. She is INCREDIBLE. She bring the darkness and wickedness to Elphaba I never realized I was even missing. Saw the show 3 times and she was my favorite
I think what makes me a little sad about the online culture around Wicked is powerhouse singers like Nikki Bentley go very unappreciated. Seeing her live, her voice filled the theatre like no elphaba I've ever seen, and it's sad that it'll never come across on video because singers like her deserve more credit.
2:19 Damn, every recording I’ve heard of Saycon I never heard her sing that F5 but damn you go. Plus I love how her voice is more soul-ish so it kinda brings like soul into the role. I wonder who brought that F5 into the song.
