    Mariska Veres is major hot, but few people give the band
    the credit due. The bass player is quite impressive and not
    only holds down the bottom end but doubles as a rhythm section.
    He is one of the few I see use a pick and chords on the bass.
    This band was just plain great.

      @@flexiblebirdchannel she could very much sing , it’s just that at the time any live performance on tv was difficult to produce within the relatively small budgets and time that most shows worked on . That’s also why top of the pops had live singing to a prerecorded backing track.

    A very rare indeed as this seems a legit live performance. Most of their stuff in the YT seems to be 'pure' playback with lip syncing - or (more rarely) playback with live vocals.
    Not trying to tarnish the band anyway - due to technical reasons playback was a norm in the TV back then - very often against the wishes of the bands themselves.

    • @desertywon4144
      @desertywon4144 Рік тому

      More likely two mics for wall of sound, given the date of this.

    • @captainniven
      @captainniven Рік тому +1

      Indeed - Nothing to do with feedback rejection as mentioned elsewhere - that's just an old wives tale - the idea of mic splitters had not really caught on, and the PA usually didn't have the complexity to allow a feed from it - mixed or not - so double miking was the norm for such filmed concerts.

    • @wayneburnett5098
      @wayneburnett5098 Рік тому +1

      Any sound that came through both mikes on the mic stand, i.e. the overwhelming noise of the on-stage amplifiers and raw drums, usually located directly behind the vocalist, and aimed straight into the cardioid mic, would be 100 times as loud as a human vocalist, thus overpowering him/ her. Thus, this would be canceled through that dual mike setup. Any loud background noise coming into both mics simultaneously, producing matching signals, were canceled. Only the vocal signal coming into one of the dual vocal mic setup, would transfer to the PA. Also, there was no need for a separate recording mic. They would simply pull the signal off the Mixing board or PA. Even the Announcer i. e. Woodstock, didn't need 2 mics. No music was playing, and his voice went through the PA, and was was recorded off the sound board. The difficulty comes with matching/ syncing the "tape" recording, with the film and/ or video sounds. @@captainniven

    And Venus was her name

    Well, I'm your Venus
    I'm your fire, at your desire
    Her weapons were her crystal eyes

      I think twerking has passed, thankfully. It was part of the pornification of mainstream culture for a while but ran its course. If you like that sort of thing, fine, but don't show it to little kids.

      Wrong.
      Twerking the ass is traditional african dance.
      They probably mate by learning it.
      Some Islands people too.
      Let me guess-you are white lolol!!!

      Twerking rudeness. Careful it sounds like a name for a music group! Better copyright that name!

    It's nice to know they were a real band of musicians because at the time all I heard and didn't see was a Pop radio hit. We were a bit cut off here in NZ in those days.

      @@ballhawk387 It can be that as well. Could've also been used for delay effects. I'm going to say in this case, since the audio is perfectly clear (for the filming) that you are correct. They're set up for monitoring and PA.
