I had a 25hp Spirit on a 16ft Alumaweld flat bottom. It was a 1979 model with the same graphics. That poor motor was shown no mercy and sunk once due to a hurricane (sitting on the floor in a fishing camp that got flooded). I happened to meet the third owner and he was waiting for it to die so he could get a new motor for the same boat. That was about 2004. I ran that boat and motor all over Delacroix Island LA even about 4 miles out into Black Bay. Fond memories.

I am pretty happy with how light this little kicker is ! 19 lbs! It seems to have almost as much power as my 4 hp merc 4 stroke.
I always have mixed gas for my chain saws, I would really like to take it out on a big lake and go after big fish. I bet that 25 was a fast boat motor.

@@arc4550 My flat ran about 35mph if I was in it by myself. In rough weather that thing saw more air time than a skateboard at the X Games! 😁

@@bayoumike544 That is pretty quick. I had a 9.8 merc, i built up/raised the transom on an old 18 foot fiberglass canoe, and put a fin on the bottom of the leg. I got 18 mph with it, i suspect it may have been the fastest canoe in Canada. I sold the canoe with that motor, 8 years ago. The motor was 1980, the boat was 20 years old. Fiberglass usually lasts 30 years. This one is KEVLAR. Its lighter/stronger they say.
Im slowing down these day i guess. I put that 9.8 2 stroke on a 9 foot cartopper, holy cow did that thing wind out. I was up on the leg, my short hair was straight back! I bet I was 30 mpg, maybe more.
