MILWUAKEEE HARDLINE KNIFE FEILD REPORT (part 2)
got an immature bull moose october 23rd, buddy and I shared it. The MILWUAKEEE HARDLINE KNIFE is one functional field knife. I recommend this one for large game. skinning. quartering. backstrap and tenderloin. leg joint, no problem.

Ive gotten use to the electronic shift, I dont hate it. I keep it on the gear select mode so i can up or down shift. The MAXXIS BIGHORN 2's are impressive.

my pinky is bent because I got hit by a large branch when riding QUAD. not my best camerawork, but i got the point across.
Stupid video, has nothing to offer. Just annoying and amateurish. My god what a waste of time. Can this guy talk any slower?
Sounds like a Canadien.
yup. i am a.
Still sixty or older so steel holds its own.

so like $30 American. 😁😁. just joking. but I truly hope that youi kick Trudeau to the curb so i cna come & visit again 😀😀
flush the turdo. i have been saying that for 9 years.
I think they finally improved their steel a little. I have a softer Milwaukee fixed blade in my tool pack, it is seven years old. I use it to score mud flaps, scrape and remove wire insulation. Easy to dull and easy to sharpen. Before that I had a Milwaukee folder with the same steel. That said it served me well as it locked closed and I managed to send thing through a pump a couple of time with it coming back fully intact. Aus 8 is close 440 steel. The old ones seemed like a soft tempered 420. For D2 knives, I carry a diamond sharpener in a shoulder pocket in my fleece military winter jacket.
Thank You for the tips. I have used the leatherman diamond grit sharpener on several knives, and it seems to work pretty good. I am making one of those drum-roller type sharpeners with magnets in the 20 degree angle cut. They seem to work very good also, using emery paper.
Aus8 is way easier to sharpen than 440 in my opinion.
Did you get the 15” or 20” . Very nice!
it is an 18 footer.
@@arc4550 oh sorry I meant the short shaft or long shaft merc outboard. Thanks for the response.
@@tristondaspit6618 short shaft. apparenty there is a carb upgrade, turns the 4 hp merc into a 6 hp!
sweet! I’ve been looking for vids to do that exactly on a Suzuki. I’ve got a 15 ft aluminum ouachita trying to make it work, sorry for the late response and thanks agin for the video not much on here for this besides @motorizedcanoeingadventures

I'm getting ready to manual swap my ranger
You are converting it to manual ? You are ambitious.
Nice setup! I just bought an Evinrude 2hp that I'm going to use on my Clipper Ranger with a side mount. I'd love to check out some of the waters up PG way!
(thanks) 2 hp is ok if its a 2 stroke, 4 hp is better, 6 might be best for going UP river.
@arc , hi. for how much you would accept to sell me the SOG 2.0 knife ?
It is a gift from my son. Not 4 sale.
@@arc4550 totally understand. please tell me you are able to source a vintage one with GOOD leather sheath like yours locally or in your country ! please...NOT the ones with PLASTIC buttons snap. the ones with Metal Snap!

You REALLY wanna wear the safety kill lanyard in this setup. 👍🏻
Thanks for the video!
glad you like it. still driving the ranger.
The SOG is a weaker knife. It's not full tang.
im not going to test that!

@arc4550 "Crazy thing its made in Taiwan , Can you believe this ?" HAHAHA man...if you are to compare apple vs apple or a Puma Hunter vs a SOG S1 please select a GENUINE SK-5 S1 made in Seki ! (the original making place for the genuine MACV SOG Knives) ....NOT a cheap Aus-8 MADE IN TAIWAN Display crap blade man.....c'mon !
MY CHANNEL = MY choice. The TIAWAN blade is, in MY OPINION, having compared them on MOOSE ELK AND MULE DEER, the S.O.G. is SUPERIOR STEEL for edge retention. NO CONTEST. this apple to apple thing you refer to is bullshit. My comparison is FEILD TESTED on Wild game animals by ME. skinning, gutting, quartering and butchering. if you can not handle the truth, this is, a YOU problem.
Things made in Taiwan are usually way better quality than those made in China. I trust things made in Japan and Taiwan. There are a lot of good knives made in Taiwan.
I have to agree with you, with my own hands-on testing, on deer/moose/elk, skinning, gutting, quartering and butchering. I used that S.O.G. 2.0 bowie on 3 mule deer bucks and one bull moose, before an effortless re-touch to the blade. the PUMA was, unfortunately, in need of re-sharpening only 1/2 way through ONE moose.
I've one too, amazing well made PUMA knive. But, two different types of knives. PUMA = for hunting; SOG = for fighting. So they are not directly comparable. BTW: the PUMA has 440C steel, the SOG AUS 8 steel. OK ? The PUMA you can sharpen very well to a high sharpness. You have to do it in the right way, buddy. The 440C steel is harder, but holds the edge for a longer time, compared to the AUS8. Therefore AUS8 is a bit easier to sharpen, but it lose the edge easier. The 440C ist a bit harder to sharpen, but holds the edge for a longer time. Also the withstand of corrosion is better for the 440C steel.
ok, good luck with that. ANY knife can be a FIGHTING KNIFE in an extreme situation. if you only had a swiss army folder and a grizzly is incoming, you would use it. These knives are comparable in cost, blade length, and build quality. the difference is, Having actually HUNTED in NORTHERN BC moose, ELK, Bear, and DEER, skinning, gutting, quartering, The SOG wins, NO CONTEST. obviously you are a PUMA fanboy who does not actually use them in the field. The PUMA is one classy steak knife when you are in camp, though.
Mine has 5395 km
i misread the odometer, it reads 2350 km. i will have an update on it soon, i upgrades the tires.
ok@@arc4550
I have one
best review ever love the jokes aye!
thank you
Hole in the puma is for the retention loop, not lanyard. I'm not sure that Bowie design of the puma is a very good comparison, puma do a Bowie with a long false edge, and a deeper hollow ground which I think is more comparable to the SOG, that bone handles going to last a lifetime maybe not so the stack leather, also I think the SOG is rather thick, seems crazy on a knife of that length to have a quarter inch back, there's no purpose just extra weight, it's not like it's a chopper or anything. That said must be incredibly strong I like them both.
agree. I also like them both.
It’s a scam don’t even work don’t even try it you’ve been warned
The clutch slave cylinders on my Rangers have failed at: 2004 130,000, 2009 147,000, 2011 162,000. All 3 are 2.3 5 speed manual transmission with ac and painted white. I sold the 2004 in February 2022.
Good to know. Im still under 100,000 kms, it is motorcycle season now, I have to change over my summer tires and get firewood though. My Driverside airbag was finally replaced 2 months ago. it was a factory recall.
@@arc4550 All 6 airbags in all 3 trucks were eventually under recall. The only one left to replace is the driver side on my 2009. They have been reliable with few complaints.
I wonder if I would have been safer not having explosive projectiles aimed at my chest all those years! In this example, NO Airbags may have been safer. 15 years later.....better late than never.
Oh FFS, this was an incredible waste of my time. This person had no business giving a review. It was basically the equivalent of a guy in a bar insisting that you need to hear about his summer vacation against your will. I learned NOTHING about this product.
Greetings from California. Bought a 07 xtra cab a few weeks ago. 160k miles and she runs and looks show room new. 4cyl as well. Very impressed.
I hope your ranger is as reliable as mine.
I have a 2010 extended cab, 2.3 & manual transmission like this. In Canada too. Good truck, not exactly a pulling machine but definitely useful. Change your fuel & air filters on schedule & a couple oil changes yearly & it should serve you well...don't use the cheap filters. Use your block heater when necessary (saves engine wear). These have coil springs up front rather than torsion bars (better) like V6 Rangers.
EXTRA CAB must me nice. More room for stuff, and you can recline your seat and have a nap.
It’s refreshing to hear someone else speak with exclamation points like I do 😆
Puma = 440C more carbon, better quality. SOG = Aus 8, holds better edge. Not sure which one I want.
I recommend BOTH!
"Chisel tip"?
yup. same as a tanto.
Nice truck !!!
thank you.
Should be in there
agree.
Speak up ,‘you are painfully slow

Ethanol gas likes to gunk up small motors like this one. I have an even cheaper motor, a 2.6 coleman and it's run fine on ethanol free. That is, if you can find it.
TRUE. I can get MARINE GAS, AKA FARM GAS, cheaper, but I believe it contains ethanol now. My lawn mower sure does not like ethanol gas. I wonder if sanity will prevail, and we can abandon this insane "GREEN" agenda. the REASON govt likes ethanol, is to prevent long term hoarding. Has NOTHING to do with ENVIRONMENT.
@@arc4550 Actually, ethanol gas is not more green. It takes more energy to make, with all the corn fields and all. It slightly improves mpg, and makes emissions cleaner and thats it. Mainly its the farm lobbyists
@@jeron9272 JOHN STOSSEL did a deep dive into ethanol, He revealed the ETHANOL actually results in MORE diesel fuel/gas/oil is consumed in the production, and the use in gasoline runs up food cost. Everything the government touches = turns into shit. And costs more for regular folks to survive. A few other honest reporters told the same story. Woudbe nice if gas did NOT gunk up carburetors!
That's an incredible piece, I would believe that particular waidblatt much older than 40 years. I wouldn't use it either, wonderful historical Puma knife. I'd probably use the Bowie and Automesser though, not splitting wood but lighter camp chores or butchering like a finer knife would be used.
The WAIDBLATT handle is not comfortable to use. Compared to the newer version, it appears to have missed the final finishing stage. I Believe it would devalue it if I alter it in any way.
Nice knife. I have a Tanto knife also, mine’s made in the USA, Carbon V Steel.
Those old two strokes last for ever…….
I had a 25hp Spirit on a 16ft Alumaweld flat bottom. It was a 1979 model with the same graphics. That poor motor was shown no mercy and sunk once due to a hurricane (sitting on the floor in a fishing camp that got flooded). I happened to meet the third owner and he was waiting for it to die so he could get a new motor for the same boat. That was about 2004. I ran that boat and motor all over Delacroix Island LA even about 4 miles out into Black Bay. Fond memories.
I am pretty happy with how light this little kicker is ! 19 lbs! It seems to have almost as much power as my 4 hp merc 4 stroke. I always have mixed gas for my chain saws, I would really like to take it out on a big lake and go after big fish. I bet that 25 was a fast boat motor.
@@arc4550 My flat ran about 35mph if I was in it by myself. In rough weather that thing saw more air time than a skateboard at the X Games! 😁
@@bayoumike544 That is pretty quick. I had a 9.8 merc, i built up/raised the transom on an old 18 foot fiberglass canoe, and put a fin on the bottom of the leg. I got 18 mph with it, i suspect it may have been the fastest canoe in Canada. I sold the canoe with that motor, 8 years ago. The motor was 1980, the boat was 20 years old. Fiberglass usually lasts 30 years. This one is KEVLAR. Its lighter/stronger they say. Im slowing down these day i guess. I put that 9.8 2 stroke on a 9 foot cartopper, holy cow did that thing wind out. I was up on the leg, my short hair was straight back! I bet I was 30 mpg, maybe more.
Jagmeet and Turd o. It IS almost as DISGUSTING as hat these two are doing to CANADA.
I was digging around on UA-cam. The ORIGINAL Jim Bowie "FOREST KNIFE" is in a private collection, and there is some historical information that confirms the artifact. There is an exhibition in 2015 in a place called OCKA. search Jim Bowie's ACTUAL knife to find this 45 minute video. I will not post the link. YOU search it, if you are interested. The Forest Knife has a TWELVE inch long blade, and looks a bit plain, after seeing so many modern versions of this famous blade. there is NO appraised value, but I would guess, PRICELESS.
you mean the EDWIN FORREST’S knife Jim Bowie Gifted to him ... ?
@@Dan-Commando sounds about right.
I am calling it a BOWIE STYLE knife. A generally vague descriptive term these days. Turns out the ACTUAL Jim Bowie Forest knife = 12 inch long blade!
I saw some comments complaining about the stock radio. I have no complaint about it.
You wanna Race?!!
