Do you have information on high limit preapproval no effect on credit score
I worked at NFCU. If you just tell them your grandparent or other close relative was in the military they take your word for it, no proof needed. So realistically anyone can be a member.
Don't build deceitful habits into your daily actions just to get ahead of people that actually meet (or worked to meet) the qualifications.
So I need to go into a branch tried online but it told me had to have my mom open a account then I'd be able to got annoyed
M dad and grandfather are retired military and I got a membership over the phone. I just told them but they said if we need proof you will need to provide it.
Not my experience. I had to send them proof that my father was a veteran. He passed away so it wasn’t easy.
Right have to send proof they dont let you without proof
I'm a big fan of Credit Unions. I am currently in 11 of them:
Golden 1
Alliant
Lake Michigan
Navy
Penfed
Langley
Key Point
Unify
PSECU
Service
Andrews
Credit limits are higher than banks imo.
Overall experience is better than dealing with the big banks also.
Which ones are your favorite?
I am in a bunch myself. Of the ones you listed, I am in Penfed, PSECU, Alliant, Service, and Andrews. I joined some of them, because they have sign up bonuses if you open an account with them. I am not eligible for Navy FCU, because I am not in the military, and do not have a close relative that is in the military. Each credit union offers something different, so what you might like someone else might not like and vice versa. Also, some have open eligibility, and some do not.
I have NFCU and VyStar. Trying to find a friend in USAA to get in. The list you have are all great.
The Penfed Platinum card has some really good bonuses and no annual fee. Also a lot of the gas cards with 5% back on gas do not include charging stations if you have an electric car. However the Penfed Platinum also includes charging stations with their gas cash back. I have an electric car so that is really good for me and also if your thinking of going electric in the future. After having a good experience with Penfed on my credit cards I refinanced my car through them at %2.1 (when interest rates were low) with a $150 sign up bonus for transferring my loan!
You should do a refresh of this wonderful video !!!
Agreed.....I'm looking to get a new credit union card this year
Great video, Adam!!! There is so much value for team cash back in the Credit Union space. I'm a big fan of Navy Federal!
NFCU eligibility: if anyone in your family has ever served you're eligible. I told them my great grandfather that passed away in 2006 served and they said "great you're eligible". No proof. He did serve so if they ever ask I could get it but yeah they're not going out of their way to make sure this is true.
good to know 🙂
Same here, didn't need to provide them proof, or at least to the guy I was speaking with. The black female that answers will want proof tho, good luck with her, just hang up and call another time. Yeah my grandfather served too, I just wasn't sure which war he fought in and that was the problem, and going to a library or government website to find out that information is tedious, but come to find out, he actually fought in world war 2. I let the guy on the phone speak to my mother and aunt.
Same here. My grandpa served and I didn't have to provide proof.
@@WinnieTheTrain How dare that "black female" question the validity of a white man's claim that he is too lazy to actually substantiate and prove... How dare her! Someone should've told her that the "I'm white and because I said so!" mantra is never to be questioned!
That was outstanding!!! He provides such value.
My current setup is using, Capitalone Savor (grandfathered in with no fee) 4% dining/entertainment, 3% groceries: PenFed Pathfinder 4% travel, and either the Alliant (2.5%) or PenFed power cash (2%) for a catch-all.
You can also get the Venture X and then convert your cash back from Savor into Venture Miles, if you have any interest in transferring to C1’s transfer partners.
Can you do a part 2 on the best Credit Union Cards on the market?
Well again great info and good delivery.
One caveat is Credit Unions are not as kind as one might think. If you are retired with tight income stream they are tougher on you. Navy Federal has no branches in Chicago the closest is in Gurnee about 60 Miles from dowtown(approximate guess, lol). There is a tortuous Train/bus route. I like having staffed branches. I'm ex military so I am a member angling for finally getting Navy & Penfed by '23/24.
I have Affiniy, Abound, Nusenda.
Just applied for Harborstone CU - They have a card that is the same as the US Bank Cash Plus.
The Harborstone CU card is from Elan Financial Service which is a subsidiary of US Bank.
@@mitchell.9632 Thanks. Did not know that. Makes sense because the card is the same.
@@zyzzyz7035 Your welcome. They have their cards at a lot of the smaller to mid size banks.
@@mitchell.9632 Can you list a few? I’m on the hunt for 5% cards.
@@zyzzyz7035 They say they service over 1,300 financial institutions. I would say just start out with looking at something local.
Also, I believe Alliant is changing their terms for that card as it relates to the checking account. They mention on the website that moving forward I don’t think it requires a monthly direct deposit
SECU MD Visa Signature might be worth a look.
3X Dining, Travel, Amazon
2X Gas and Groceries
Thanks for the info + video!
HUGE downside to Navy Federal Credit Union CCs; they don't allow automatic statement payments from an external account. Have fun remembering to manually pay your statement balance every month or haveing NFCU become your primary CU 🤣
Set an calandra alert in your native calendar app
@@BigTex214 it's 2023, even my local CU has the ability to do auto payments from external accounts.
@@maxpalmer5512 sounds like Navy fed isn’t for you
@@BigTex214 or anyone expecting basic banking services from their CU, hence my initial comment
Bingo. I just scheduled an external payment. The inability to schedule recurring payments with another institution is a huge negative.
I have also heard about the Chevron FCU and Spectrum CU max rewards credit cards. They earn 5% back in 2 categories that you choose similar to the US Bank Cash+. They offer cards through a partnership with Elan Financial Services. Also, I have the Redstone Visa Signature Credit Card. I received an email stating that starting on 1/1/2023 it will earn 5% back on restaurant and gas purchases, 3% back on groceries, discount stores, wholesale clubs, utilities, phone, and streaming services, and 1.5% back on everything else.
*If true this is the best credit card in existence.*
I’ll have to give serious consider to the Alliant card.
Hands down the best credit union credit card is the affinity cash rewards credit card
I just applied for it a few weeks ago. I'm super stoked to have been accepted. it's a juggernaut of a card. the credit union itself is pretty legit too.
Agreed it’s the best
Really appreciate your channel. Thank you so much dear Sir
Great perspective, as I have memberships with CUS I really like that you did this review, I think you should cove more CUS, the big banks are not always offering anything great.
Really useful video. Thanks. I have a few CU cards and you revealed new ones to me.
Didn't know credit unions have some good cards in their lineup. Might look into get a few of them. Great content as always, thanks Adam!!!
While that aerospace may be one of the best cards you can have, USbank Visa Signature is a close comparison honestly and can be obtained. USbank offers. X2 5% categories while aerospace only has x1 5% and x1 4%. USbank offers 2 percent in one category and aerospace space 3 percent one category with 2 percent back on everything else while USbank offers 1 percent.
I love me some credit unions!
I currently belong to:
1st Tech FCU
PenFed CU
NIH FCU
Andrews FCU
EECU
I have credit cards from NIH & Andrews. Will probably apply for a few more CU cards after i get another chase card!
Note: the CUs offer high limits but often require POI.
Great video!
Love your videos
Love these cards! Looking to get more credit union cards in the future
UW Credit Union Credit Card allows for 2% back on all purchases, no foreign transaction fees, and unlimited balance transfer's
That's a good one!
The best cu cc is Alliant
I know your channel is about CCs, but you might want to warn viewers about these banks giving money to people that deposit large sums of money into new checking accounts. The bank world stage is ripe for bale ins. CITI is one bank doing this.
Seems there's a few more CC I will need to add to my list. I already have way too many cards I'd like to get.
I'm with LGFCU and SECU and both are NC credit Union and you have to have family in local government or state employment
I have credit cards with Navy Federal, PenFed & Affinity from this list. I am looking into the Affinity Cash Rewards Visa Signature card & what is a good score for the card? I currently have their secured card & about a month ago I got an E-mail saying about switching to a new card & after Affinity told me about this being kinda like an invitation to apply so that was why I was concerned about a good score for the Affinity Cash Rewards Visa Signature card.
Hard to say. If your track record is good with the secured card, that obviously helps your chances because they already know you a little. Might want to call and talk to someone, though, they might have one of their less rewarding cards in mind for you.
PLease review BECU (Boeing Credit Union) cards. They are awesome.
Yes!! Been with them since I was 14
Is it hard for out of state to get in
There cards are not that good, they have good personal loans but there only credit cards are a 1.5% unlimtied cashback visa or a 0% APR promotional mastercard.
How about the Vantage West Connect Rewards Visa Signature? Pick a 5% category.
Can we get a hotel credit card comparison?!?!?
I have Penfed and Navy Fed.
How many of the credit unions you spoke about do soft pulls ? Please advise when you can- thanks.
Alliant isn't a federal CU. its a state chartered
NFCU might as well just let anyone join.
No they shouldn't. You must not be a NFCU member, otherwise why would you want your customer service experience diluted because now they're even more people in the queue? If you're in the military or a military family member, that's who they're catering to and that's the price of admission.
Schools 1st! Best ever
Can you do more on pen. Fed credit union cards ?
Thoughts on the Golden1 Credit Union Members Cash Rewards Visa
Yeah that is a good one, too.
I received a Pre approved letter from PenFed credit Union and responded, they replied wanting two years tax returns and six months of bank statements. That told me everything I needed to know about these characters. Amex and Chase look like gold compared to a credit union.
A round up video.
Hello. Haven’t watched yet but I’m sure good job as usual.
I appreciate the optimism! 😃
Yes, you did a good job.
You and a few other guys should do a quarterly video together where you go over your wallet set up, opinions, etc.
Any Credit Union cards that have 5% in mobile wallet?
The Kroger credit card has 5% in mobile wallet
@@MelchisedecLai Is there a credit card that pays 5% cashback for any purchases?
@@juice4699 The only one I've heard of with a 5% flat rate cashback is the PCMCU MasterCard. However, becoming a member of PCMCU is very restrictive.
@@MelchisedecLai holy crap that is a good card if one can meet the restrictions
US Bank Altitude Reserve pays 3X on unlimited mobile wallet but the points are worth 1.5% each towards travel purchased through their travel site for a total return of 4.5%. Annual fee of $400 partially offset by $325 travel/dining credit. No annual fee for active duty military.
credit out my credit to cash video
Check out the cards a Service Credit Union.
