Love this video. I have been watching these videos since February when I was losing weight to meet requirements. Since January I have lost 49lbs while training for PT. I am 5 11" currently 200.8lbs, I was 250lbs in January 1st and have been keeping my recruiter updated on my weight every week since. Really excited to start this process soon.
Great job!!! You’ll have to maintain it once you’re in. But there are groups you can work out with to help you. I hope you enjoy the AF. I did. I lived being in the AF. I wish I’d have stayed in. The job you pick will have a lot to do with whether you enjoy it. So pick wisely. There is every job you can think of. Everything there is in the civilian world is available in the AF. So think what field you’re interested in and find a job within that field. I wasn’t smart enough to do that and I didn’t pick well. My recruiter just said, “you did incredible on your ASVAB. You’re really smart so you should do electronics. Here, this is electronics on a plane.” And I picked it not knowing what it was and it was the most boring job ever. But still I enjoyed the AF. So if you choose something you are interested in, whether it be a cop, administrative work, combat photography, air traffic controller, or whatever else you dream of, pick it!! BTW, if you’re interested in being a cop, know this: in the AF world, “law enforcement” and “security” or “security police” are two distinctly different things. “Law enforcement” are actual cops. “Security police” are just security guards and they just sit around guarding various assets, like planes, checking ID’s of those who go in and out of restricted areas, sitting in guard shacks or chairs all day. Boring. But to each their own I guess! There are also K9 handlers. But the point is, there is everything you can imagine!! Find what you like and pick it!! Don’t be intimidated by what it is. They will teach you and train you how. Congrats on your progress and keep it up!! Good luck!

Im in the AF reserve to clarify we also do our pt test every 6 months or year depending on score. If the airmen got a excellent score they test again in a year, average score they test again in 6 months. Almost everyone in reserves have different test dates some may do theirs june, july, august, basically all year round. What's a little different about us is the commander can pull back testing if there is no monthly drill during the month which happen in my case there is no monthly drill in my unit in july so it got pushed till august thus I dont test july but in august 2021. Every base in the reserves/guard could delay testing depending on their unit commander.
Hey! Thanks so much for sharing the information!! It is the same with active that people take them at different times of the year, but every 6 months (or a year if over a 90). We appreciate the info!
For us we do sit-ups/push-ups first and then the run :) and you get a break when counting for your partner, so a minute break in between. And they let us grab water and use the bathroom if needed before we run :) I’m not sure if it is the same everywhere.
@@Halfblood_princesss ok thank you. I was under the impression that we would do each activity on a separate day😅 I was not aware that the pt test was 1 straight shot of everything.
Excellent video and congratulations on joining. I've been in for 15 years, and it been a blast so far. One thing I noticed with you video is the minimum doesn't make the members pass. That is awesome Katey!! Keep up the hard work!! You can definitely go ahead and reach out, BUT some recruiter will go ahead and start the process with you and there are some that won't start the process until you fully meet the qualifications. Either way, I am proud of you and excited for your journey!!
I would just recommend clarifying in your video that to test once a year it’s scoring 90 and above testing on ALL components. If a member has a profile exempting them from one or more categories, they would then test again in 6 months (even if scoring 90 and above).
Do you have any more information about the new PT test? I’ve heard that the Air Force is going to be allowing people to preform alternative exercises instead of the standard 1.5 mile run, push ups, and sit ups if they want to. Can you comment on that?
I purchased a few of the AV guides, thank you! I have been ramping up my fitness routine this past year, especially running and push ups 🥴 I downloaded the Nike app and it took me an hour to run a mile haha but I improved a great deal since then
Hi there! Amazing video, super useful, but I do have a few questions :( If someone can help me out, First, you do your PT test after the basic training, no? And second, how is the test done? You run a 1.5 mile and instantly get to the floor and do push ups and sit ups? Or there's a rest between sets?
No, theres a pt test at the beginning of the basic training to see how youre doing physically, it doesnt count as a requirement, but its important to perform good to show that youre in shape. Then you do another one almost at the end of the training, which is the one that has the passing requirements. And yes, theres a little rest between the push ups, sit ups and 1.5 mile run, but its not long tho, i'd say around 1:30 mins between each one.
This is helpful, thank you! Just now realized I want to be an Airman at 26. Kinda late but still have a chance! Hey, that isn't something we would make a video on because it's not anything we have personally had any experience with or know any information about it. We either make videos that we have experience with or something that applies to the general majority of people. I know it's hard because we get soooo many video requests from people asking about very specific things, but of course, we can't make them all. No harm in asking though!

Hello, so I'm leaving for BMT sometime soon and was practicing for the pt test, on the pt test scoring sheet I see the minimum is 30 push-ups/one minute, does this mean that I get a minute to do as many push-ups as I can with a minimum of 30? If I max out the push-ups it still has to be within a minute?
it goes all the way up to 60+, but those who are already in service wouldn't be watching this video for their info haha, but here is the link to all the age requirements scores www.airmanvision.com/fitness
I’m trying to get into the military. I failed the duck walk though. After being with CAP for a while, I want to join the AF but I don’t think I’m smart enough for that branch, lol. Appreciate the videos! Any tips on bettering the ASVAB scores?
That can depend. Technically you're supposed to be in the weight requirements. They MIGHT do a waist measurement or they could say you don't meet the requirements. but why take that chance? Just make sure you're making weight. Once you're at BMT and beyond the weight requirement doesn't matter. Just stay within weight until you leave.
@@AirmanVision Yep! Just do your best, that will get you through your Air Force career. And don’t underestimate yourself. People typically get their highest PT scores of their career at BMT because you’ll be running every other day.
yes! you can download it here www.airmanvision.com/fitness I don't mention that in this video because you can't join if you're 40 or older, so anyone who is in the Air Force and over 40 has access to the requirements
By this logic I’d pass with a 87.5 maxing out on sit-ups and on a good day maybeee push ups but I gave myself wiggle room, I’m not a strong runner so I gotta be good in other stuff. Unfortunately… I am fat
Worst thing is the running. My guess is that about 15-20% of airmen can max push ups or sit ups but the run, probably about 1-3%. I’ve always wondered why they made it nearly impossible to max the run? The scoring is not at all consistent with the other two workouts.
Nice video. I just turned 40. Unfortunately you only went up to age 39 for males. Guess I will have to go on to the portal to look mine up lol. Thanks anyway
If you are not in the military, you can only join up to age 39. If you are already in the military and age 40 or over, then you have this information available to you.
Does anyone know how much does one have to weigh for 32, 5'9 man?
Looking at this, from a Soldiers ACFT POV, holy shit this looks like a a cake walk 👀 - I’m going air force after army next year lol
The link to download the requirements sheet isn't working for me. Anyone else got a link that works?
Thanks for letting us know! All fixed now! www.airmanvision.com/air-force-pt-test
Reserves is every 6 months unless you get a 90+ then you get a year. Guard does it every year regardless of score -- at least in theory 🤣
Not anymore. Guard is 6 months and 1 year like everyone else.
Makenna about to get a 100 on her first PT test. 🏃🏻♀️
hahaha, that would be awesome. I'll try my best, but I don't think I can max out my run
@@AirmanVision Yep! Just do your best, that will get you through your Air Force career. And don’t underestimate yourself. People typically get their highest PT scores of their career at BMT because you’ll be running every other day.
@@AirmanVision maybe with some ankle weight?
Yo go Air Force:)
So not one of those sit ups would count by any standard. You should be doing 70+ degrees of motion not 30
Great job Air Force same pt standards as the Girl Scouts
Girl Scout cookies are the best.
Our Favorite Girl Scout cookies:
Kyle's are Thin Mints
Makenna's are Samoas
What about you guys?? 🤔🍪
@@AirmanVision I agree with Kyle. Thin mints for the win! 🍪
@@AirmanVision I don’t think I have a favorite yet, I have to try them first!
The best Girl Scout cookies are the Tagalongs and thin mints! Put those
Thin mints in the freezer and have them with coffee 🤤😋
Anyone have the List Reqs for 45+?
yes! you can download it here www.airmanvision.com/fitness
I don't mention that in this video because you can't join if you're 40 or older, so anyone who is in the Air Force and over 40 has access to the requirements
Let’s just keep lowering the standards
I leave for bmt in 28 days
awesome!! 34 for me!
Lol if I waited another 6 months I could’ve gotten the 25yo+ PT standards. Oh well! Guess I gotta get a preppin
Anyone leave June 22nd?
What is the scoring chart for females less than 25
Wait that’s actually pretty easy, I was preparing to run 5 miles, 20+ push up and 50+ setups like that was the bare minimum requirements
By this logic I’d pass with a 87.5 maxing out on sit-ups and on a good day maybeee push ups but I gave myself wiggle room, I’m not a strong runner so I gotta be good in other stuff. Unfortunately… I am fat
They should absolutely have the waist measurement. It'll be tough to do sit ups with a beer belly.
Waist measurement is still an Air Force requirement. It just isn’t part of the pt test score
Pretty sure they will bring back waist or some sort of body fat percentage test in a year or so.
nice job airforce, you just got past by the coast guard in the list of branches I take seriously....................
🙏
i was so happy to hear this, i used to get like 80-85s now my same score is like 92-95 🤣 lotta fatties gonna stay in
😂😂
Awesome video, and thank you for providing this update. This is majorly important information
Ship out august 10
awesome!!! best of luck!!
Anyone leaving June 29th?
Right here!
@@devinsandel3077 Let’s gooo
Worst thing is the running. My guess is that about 15-20% of airmen can max push ups or sit ups but the run, probably about 1-3%. I’ve always wondered why they made it nearly impossible to max the run? The scoring is not at all consistent with the other two workouts.
Nice video. I just turned 40. Unfortunately you only went up to age 39 for males. Guess I will have to go on to the portal to look mine up lol. Thanks anyway
If you are not in the military, you can only join up to age 39.
If you are already in the military and age 40 or over, then you have this information available to you.
Made the video for people who are in the process of joining and need to know the requirement you need to meet.
You can see all the requirements for all age groups here www.airmanvision.com/fitness
the reqs are so ridiculously low.
Anyone leavin 9/21 ?! ik it’s kinda far out
Join the guard, and get the test pencil whipped
I had tougher standards to meet for my high school varsity water polo team in the 80’s. What a joke.
guess aint nobody over 40yrs old in airforce.....maybe the in the marines....?
Need to do an update. You can WALK the Mile and a half now. Do planks, not pushups.....Jesus, we are turning weak. China and Russia are laughing their butts off.
those changes are official yet. They are still discussing the overall plan with those categories.
Not sure for the 1.5 mile run
@AirmanVision i Can And Will Beat You in a Push Up Contest
