Thank you a great video and I’m sure the internal carb filter is the problem with mine . I’m going to order new hoses and carb kits . Your video is the only one I found on these carbs . Mine is a 94 GTX . Thank you again
My jet sky it won’t star right away I put starter fluid and then it stars find the if I stop for around 4 mint it would do the same any ideas thanks great video good work
Adam Paganelli i have a 1998 gti i let it sit for almost a 7 months it had half a tank of gas but i added the seafoam in it knowing it was gonna sit during the winter i took it out to lake turns on fine took it for a spin was riding good then at full throttle it bog out you think it’s the carbs ?
@@josecollazos6 yes should have used stabil instead of seafoam, to stabilize the fuel to keep ethanol from breaking down fuel so quickly, it starts to break down in only 3 weeks with new gas!, so now you need complete carbs rebuilt
bent rodguy i did a carb rebuild on it and now seems like no fuel going through just cranks but I’m going to replace the fuel lines had those old tempo grey fuel lines
Hi! I have a 1998 Moto boat, the cabin was flooded once, drained the water and replaced the spark plugs and starter but it won't start, only a beep from the engine, no motor turning, can you tell me why? ? Thanks!
Have same 96 gti they seem to start fine but surge or will run good wide open then they slow/bog down while throttle is still wide open. They will almost come to a stop then take off again. Also if you let off throttle then stab it again takes about 5 seconds to react/respond. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated
Nicely done. I just bought a '96 XP for super cheap as a project. It's been sitting outside exposed to the weather for years, so I'll be restoring it much like you're doing now. Running condition is unknown and it came with no key or battery --- waiting on those to arrive to dig into this thing. I'll be looking for your future videos on your Seadoos. Thanks for sharing.
You have to change those old fuel lines you have to change the selector valve you also have to set your pop off pressure on your needle and seat and always do a fuel pressure check on your fuel system a loose gas cap on a 2-stroke jet ski with fry a piston or you may have a bad air regulator valve on your gas tank all these things must be checked when doing a carb job
Thank you for the video. I have a 96 XP that just started to bog down. It starts but doesn't go over 5 mph. it will get up and go then bog right down like there is something restricting it. I am assuming its the carb that needs cleaned and new fuel lines.
did u change fuel filter and plugs? take off fuel line and spray gumont carb and wd 40 let it soak a few days. Try again fuel pumps are on the carb itself. so if has ole gray lines replace make sure u remove any ole fuel replace with ethanol free, never leave fuel in one for long time. bogging can be many things start with the basic. Bogging is usually one of the jets is stopped up
Yes, liked the video. Trying to figure out why mine is stalling on take off. Fine till giving gas, if it goes its fine when fast. Started bogging down when going slow, no wake, then getting worse.
I have this exact same Seadoo with the same problem. All the lines have been changed. When I put gas down the spark plugs it runs and then shuts off. I looked at the fuel selector. Seems ok. I looked at the fuel filter as well. Im thinking same problem. Last year it ran a bit out of water and shot out alot of white sludge. This year it wont start. I wonder i pushed some of that sludge into the carb.. I'm almost at the point of selling it. They dont make it easy to access everything with my big hands lol😂
The first thing you should check if your ski starts and dies, before u rebuild anything.. check inside your Gas tank and make sure the pick up line have not rotted from ethanol , That was my problem they were cracked all the way up and one had fallen off. didnt find untill i rebuilt entire fuel system after my carbs and all rebuilt i still had same problem replaced 2 lines fired right up amazing what happens when they get gas, hahaha
hello, I saw a comment you posted 2 weeks ago. I just bought a seadoo that doesn't start. What should I do first ? I was thinking rebuilding the carb but i saw your post and now I dont know. Thanks in advance
Adam. I got 94 spx and it fires right up on the trailer and under load . But under load on the water it doesn't want to go over 5 mph. Do you think it needs a carb cleaning? The previous owner said it's been sitting for a couple years. The thing looks brand new tho!
I have the same problem I’m pretty sure sure it’s the filters in the carburetor and the fuel lines . There is also a filter in front of the ski on my 94 gtx . Just take out the storage box in front and the air vent slide up and out behind it is a screw on filter . I cleaned it and my ski ran great for two hrs then back to sluggish and hard starting. My ski sat for 8 yrs so I’m sure the carb and fuel lines are an issue. I’m hoping that the crank seals are still ok bc that’s got to do with carbs bringing in fuel dried bad crank seals means not enough crank case pressure to run the carbs . At least that’s the problem on my Kawasaki stand up ski.
@@shannonjohnson2345 if I can remember, I replaced the fuel lines and cleaned the carbs and it ran great after that. I ended up selling the ski. I also have a 550sx stand up
My 96XP starts fine in the shop, but when I get it in the water, it cranks and cranks...50% of the time it'll fire and off I go. But as soon as I stop, i'm back in the cranking mode...the other 50% of the time, I'm just killing the battery...Thoughts?
not getting something right boats are funny run great out of water on water not at all i been there several times with boat and ski and 99% of the time its a fuel problem
I just took my carbs off to check the filter and didn’t find any. Didn’t look like there was even a place it could be. Do you think someone switched out these carbs to an older/newer manufactured?
Hey Adam, I need help. My 1999 Kaw Ultra has sat for 2 years. Started the Ski today for the 1st time in 2 years. Throttle is hard as hell. When it started the RPM shot to max redline. I turned it off after 4 seconds. Throttle cable does move up and down. Maybe dirty carbs from sitting? Thanks fella!
What can be causing the engine to flood with fuel ,,, i take the plugs out engine and it cranks great ! I put plugs in it ....& it hydro locks with fuel ;( any help would be great !!
I had that problem on a motorcycle. The problem was the petcock was leaking which caused the float bowls to over flow and flood the cylinder. I replaced the petcock and the needle valves and all was good.
I was wondering why they didn’t have a inline filter like a pre filter that you could see the stuff in the gas. I have them on all my boats. You can also see water if it gets in the fuel. Maybe because the way the fuel pump works? Just a thought.
they do have them I believe, just inside the tank where they double as a weight. Which doesn't help when it's the fuel lines that are creating the problem.
My 94 gtx has an inline filter . If you remove the steerage box and air vent in front and look above the the fuel tank you see it there like a clear plastic jar . The fuel lines After that filter also deteriorate and that goes into the carb filters .
Thanks for the good videos man. How long had these been sitting before you took possession? I’m taking a pair off my grandpas hands that have been sitting for 5 years. He used to use them every summer and maintained them well, but that year his health took a hit and they’ve been sitting in storage since. They are a 96 GTI and 97 GTX...
i talked with a guy who used the cheapest tcw3 oil in his skis and he never had a problem, also the farm project guy did tests and the tcw3 was just as good as full synthetic. i have not tried it yet, still using the $$$$ oil.
@@jimlamb5508 so the rotax seadoo engines need a high ash and non tcw3 oil idk why but I’ve had to replace countless rotax engines because of it best oil to use is the klotz benoil caster racing oil best oil money can buy I run it in all my Yamahas I prefer it over amsoil

You did good tho.I've gotten rid of all that grey line years ago. Never use that ethanol mix gas. It's good to check the pop off on those needles so you know they are close. Also remove your seat after a day of riding. Dont let that engine sweat under there for days helps. Not to mention blowing it out at the launch everytime. Go Washington!!!

Good job ! Great details. Thank you !
Thank you a great video and I’m sure the internal carb filter is the problem with mine .
I’m going to order new hoses and carb kits .
Your video is the only one I found on these carbs . Mine is a 94 GTX . Thank you again
Can you purchase separately just that rubber gasket? What is it called? Great Video!
I've read that the grey fuel lines used in the 90's go bad and gum up the carbs
Kent, yes very true, I have made a whole video on replacing them!
Ethanol reacts with the brass fittings and the grey fuel lines to make a green goo that's damaged many a Seadoo.
Stainless Steel Braided ....Hoses
I have a 95 speedster with twin 787s I bought cheap. 2 carb rebuild kits and runs perfect. The diaphragms go bad in them
