Peter when he's singing: dark gloomy, deep-toned vioce. Peter when he's thanking everyine at the end of the video: sweet, happy, medium-toned voice. Amazing range!
Exactly, her sound is so seductive which matches perfectly with the lyrics in this song, "Come little children". If she sounds creepy then children all gonna run away!
That's what I thought, If you take the video out of it i can imagine her leading two children into a forest with a clearing and having one big tree (the hanging tree) in the center where the man is, he's leaning on the tree and starts singing with her while also telling them the story of the hanging tree where they are. I also imagine them to be siblings.
god i got chills when Peter started singing and Bailey just adds that sort of innocence and sadness from the both of them love the song you two well done
I feel like they're the same person, Bailey's voice is what the children hear and see, and Peter's voice is their (Bailey's and Peter's) mind, and they're trying to lure children to the hanging tree/another dimension.

Peter Hollens well I unfortunately don't have access to buy those but I love this video so much I didn't even wait to get out of bed when I saw come little chil
Wish they had have dressed her in a flowy long dress and him in a suit. Sort of like sleepy hollow. And at the end have them side by side with nooses around their necks just hanging like necklaces and a tattered worn out version of their costumes.
Now this is what I call a mashup!! Most "mashups" I come across is like... One of the songs and then like a single line from the other song. This one had a good mix of both songs! Creative and amazing voices!
These songs are perfect for each other! I imagine...a couple walking through the dark forest in the dead of night. Inviting all the orphans and poor children to come with them and meet up at the "Hanging Tree". To take them away from the world and escape reality together. But darker motives lurk in their souls. Murder and darkness. And the children who left never return. And no one saw the couple again.
So, something like the Pied Piper of Hamelin? That was the first thing I was thinking as I listened to this song. Eerie and haunting, definitely going up as one of my favorites. Thanks Peter!
In my opinion, a good mash MUST have 2 key elements: the right song and the right singers. That being said....these two AMAZINGLY, TALENTED, people nailed both songs and my heart melts hearing this rendition of a mash up!
These two songs are an eerie reflection of each other, perfect for the season. At first I thought "How did this collab happen?" Then it occured to me; "December Song, oh yeah". Funny how a Christmas song led to a Hallowe'en - themed mashup.
I'm a simple person. I see Come Little Children. I see The Hanging Tree. I see Halloween. I see Peter Hollens. I pass out. Then I wake up in a hospital. I escape the hospital. I take a bus home. I get on UA-cam. I click.
What if the title was “Children of the hanging tree”? Also what if the figures in the back round were the spirits of the children. So what if the children were lured to the hanging tree in the garden of shadows, and were murdered there, trapped forever to become the children of the hanging tree.
The thing about Peter is that not only does he post amazing videos and has an amazing voice, but he also posts real quality content and any video on his channel will stand testimony to it. Also he has such an amazing personality which makes me watch his videos even more.❤️
+Paladin There are over 20 great cover versions of this song on youtube. The song is from the Disney movie Hocus Pocus The song originally called: "Sarah's Theme / Come Little children" there are video clips of the Witch Sara singing this song while on her broom from that movie Hocus Pocus
I am so blown away by this cover! I never even thought of these two songs together but they fit so well!! Its incredible and I love your voices together!!
I actually really like her voice in this song. It gives a really eery feeling because she sounds really innocent, which she is using to lure children to her.
Somehow this mix made it less spooky and more melancholic, which is just wonderful. Also, Baily is amazing and you should totally collab. with her for your folk songs album.
Ok, first off, whoa. I never would've thought of layering these two songs. Second thing, lemme get this outta the way--how much fun was this to film?!? XD Peter's face at 1:00-1:03, is just TOO FUNNY!!! Ok. I will admit, I watched this half covering the screen the first time because I didn't want to be jumpscared. XD The melody is hauntingly beautiful, and the guitar really adds to it. These two songs...I'd've never thought of them together, but they fit so PERFECTLY, and the tempo was so slow and perfect. I love how the video was creepy and spooky without being....for lack of a better word, *SCARY.* Yall know what I mean. ;) Keep it up! :D
The haunting minor key melody coupled with a three four rhythm makes for a haunting rendition of two songs at once. Rich voices, careful diction and emoathetic rendition makes for classy presentation.
Perfect! Hocus Pocus - is one of my all time favorites - features SJP singing Come Little Children and every Halloween we are always singing this song along with I Put A spell On You!
'Sup People All the comments of the girls voice not being on point, I just want to say she atleast did it, atleast had the guts. N for the vid. Peter, it was amazing. I m throwing a Halloween Party and this song is gonna be played on repeat. I support you. Both of your voices are beautiful. Just sayin.
This is awesome and most definitely spook-ay! The song is great with the tones you used and the two of you sound really nice together. I still just am in love with the sets you use, they’re all so pretty/interesting. The song though... sounds like a creepy nursery rhyme.
This might be one of my favorites of yours now. The 'glitches' in the video added so much to the already creepy song. The songs also combo REALLY well together, although in more creepy ways if you listen to the lyrics in the order they appear, without considering their original order. Though, possibly for another Halloween song, can you please do Brigmore Lullaby (Credits Mix) from Dishonored 2? It's a really spooky, but really cool song as well. Definetally fits this time of year.
Don't do it, kids! Supernatural Stranger danger alert! Beautiful collab! You could also put Once Upon A December in there for extra goodness. Love your work!
I kept rewinding whenever the scene would shift from you walking and then it would change to you doing something like screaming or shaking your head cause I loved it so much
Bunny Boo - I wrote my comment the day Peter posted this, because I noticed that he literally went through and read every comment that was posted within the first several hours after he posted the video. He liked every comment that wasn't mean to someone else. Of course, at some point he obviously has to stop. But I went and found your comment and gave it a like, and I know Peter appreciates what you wrote. Catch him early next time! :-)
@Peter Hollens - haha, there you go making my comment unnecessary! :-) (I was just finishing my last reply when yours appeared. I'll be more spry next time! )
Why not just make the title Come Little Children to the Hanging Tree. Edit: I totally forgot about this comment. It's been ten months and I found 139 likes! Glad people agree!
Nice mashup! The combination of the 2 songs is amazing. I love the special effects. It makes it more spooky an your voices sounds great together. You did a great job again!!!
I listen to this as a lullaby when i go to sleep. Im wierd but that what makes me myself. I like stuff that is creepy and spooky. This isnt that bad tho
i love stuff like this one could say my personality is based off of creepy stuff but honestly what do you expect someone born on halloween to do other than that
Wow Peter, this is awesome. I can never get over how you can change your tempo to fit the criteria of the song. If you are taking requests still, I would love to hear you do "Call me" by Shinedown.
This is so spooky :D Great way to do a "Halloween theme" without going for the overused/stereotypical Bats & Pumpkins! Yours and Bailey's voices mesh so well together, been waiting for this cover since last Christmas
I need to know where this was filmed so I can trott through the tree path bare foot in a white dress covered with dirt at the tips, wearing a flower crown made of different kinds of dead flowers, picking up anything that interests me, quietly singing this to myself to scare anybody near me.
once did this in a forest that was infamous for suicide with a tattered dress, was fun, heard some people scream and a few weeks later i come back and hear about a rumor about a spirit that was killed and then made to look like a suicide, what's even worse was when i went back IN the forest, i saw a cut noose
You should do 'This is Halloween' from the Nightmare before Christmas. I'm sure your flairs would bump it up to the next spooky Halloween level! Thanks so much for your music, it really inspires my writing!
Well, he's either talking about the doorway behind Bailey at 1:22 (which looks like there's a skull over it), or at 1:26 where it looks like there's a figure next to the tree.
Omg this is the best song I have listened to all day. Your voices harmonise perfectly and the song simply complements your the octaves your voices are at. It's a masterpiece, even if the song itself isn't yours, this is a beautiful piece that you have heightened
I love this song, it is an absolutely amazing song. Though I think that in this version it sounds more like that the witch is a caring mother that only wants the children to rest easily and safely.
In the words of Sarah Sanderson...Yea Yea Yea Yea! Thank you soooo much for doing Come Little Children! I absolutely love Hocus Pocus and am actually watching it right now in my very very Halloween movie mood. :D
Spooky creepy and awesome, with those little bits of .... seriously, I think you were the ghost of the guy who murdered three, except you, uh, didn't, right? :D I prefer this one for that reason, but absolutely love the original too!
Are you are you Coming to the tree They strung up a man They said he murdered three CHORUS Strange things Did happen here No stranger would it be If we met at midnight Up in the hanging tree Are you are you Coming to the tree A dead man called out For his love to flee CHORUS Are you are you Coming to the tree I told to run so we'd both be free CHORUS are you are you Coming to the tree Wear a necklace of rope Side by side with me CHORUS
I loved this mashup when it first came out, but now that I've read the Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes I can't help but feel that this song is being directed towards Sejanus before his execution; he was never cut out for the violence that being a peacekeeper entailed and though he tried his best to help the districts, he ended up losing his life over it at the hanging tree.
Alternitive title: *come little children to the hanging tree*
waIT NO-
good job, ripping off another comment.
@@FearWithinWonderland
Not everyone reads the comments before commenting. They might have also thought of this. Might.
Come to The Hanging Little Children Tree...
EVEN WORSE....
I once typed hanging little children by accident
Freshy McWhizzle thats so too funny!!
Peter when he's singing: dark gloomy, deep-toned vioce.
Peter when he's thanking everyine at the end of the video: sweet, happy, medium-toned voice.
Amazing range!
I was thinking of Peter Pan the whole time kinda like the original one the darker one
he's muted now... so sad
This man's voice has this seductive, sort of dark angelic vibe. I love it
If you like him, you'd love Peter Steele from Type O Negative. 😍😍😍
Maddie Rose I agree!
Exactly, her sound is so seductive which matches perfectly with the lyrics in this song, "Come little children". If she sounds creepy then children all gonna run away!
@Charise Bejarano I hear it I love it
So true
I couldn’t help but imagine children being led into a “garden of shadows” that has an old “hanging tree” in the very center.
We think the same! 💖
okay, now i want to draw this
Same!
Bottles hung from the tree as well.
That's what I thought, If you take the video out of it i can imagine her leading two children into a forest with a clearing and having one big tree (the hanging tree) in the center where the man is, he's leaning on the tree and starts singing with her while also telling them the story of the hanging tree where they are. god i got chills when Peter started singing and Bailey just adds that sort of innocence and sadness from the both of them
love the song you two well done
Accurate description of why this feels so eerie. :O
Same.
me too
I got chills too
Hanging Tree is honestly so spooky
Spirited Gal yes
Yeah, but I love it :3
To be honest, I didn't think that it was that bad but the make it sound so eerie!
It’s because of the way it was written. It’s a really good song honestly.
its more tragic than spooky
That moment when two songs are stuck in your mind at the same time...
Lol
My entire body is shivering this is a beautiful enchanted masterpiece
Try it at .75 speed...
I feel like they're the same person, Bailey's voice is what the children hear and see, and Peter's voice is their (Bailey's and Peter's) mind, and they're trying to lure children to the hanging tree/another dimension.

Am I the only one who thinks that this sounds like it is to the melody of just upon a december from Anastasia
Kind of does! HA!
Peter, are you going to be in Mike’s new collab? I know I will 😀
Would you please sing I am Moana, Forevermore, No Good Deed, and Defying Gravity?
Wish they had have dressed her in a flowy long dress and him in a suit. Sort of like sleepy hollow. And at the end have them side by side with nooses around their necks just hanging like necklaces and a tattered worn out version of their costumes.
I like that idea minus the nooses.
I feel like that's a bit too on the nose...
that would be to scary....
Yes!!!!!
They should of got you to oversee the production on this, cause that is a damn good idea!
Yooo would have felt 10x spookier I think : )
Now this is what I call a mashup!!
Most "mashups" I come across is like... One of the songs and then like a single line from the other song. This one had a good mix of both songs! Creative and amazing voices!
Exactly! Mash-ups should fit well together and bleed into each other to sound like one song! Instead of making a Frankenstein Monster out of them
Hocus Pocus is hands down the best Halloween movie! 10/10! Now all I meed is to hear you do a Smooth Criminal cover and my life is complete!
HA! Me singing MJ. I'll think about it :D Thanks Cameron!!
Peter Hollens My pleasure as always! And of all the independent artists I listen to I know you are the best man for the job.
Bailey Pelkman Agreed! A "This is Halloween" cover would be epic too
Peter Hollens please do. But sing earth song please? Or man in the mirror. Those are the best!!
Man in the Mirror
These songs are perfect for each other! I imagine...a couple walking through the dark forest in the dead of night. Inviting all the orphans and poor children to come with them and meet up at the "Hanging Tree". To take them away from the world and escape reality together. But darker motives lurk in their souls. Julianna Pasara i smell a story
So... La Llorona... >.>
So, something like the Pied Piper of Hamelin? That was the first thing I was thinking as I listened to this song. Eerie and haunting, definitely going up as one of my favorites. Thanks Peter!
I’m gonna write this
I was going to do that too, it's a really cool idea so go for it! There can be many ways to do this...
In my opinion, a good mash MUST have 2 key elements: the right song and the right singers. That being said....these two AMAZINGLY, TALENTED, people nailed both songs and my heart melts hearing this rendition of a mash up!

At first I thought "How did this collab happen?" Then it occured to me; "December Song, oh yeah". Funny how a Christmas song led to a Hallowe'en - themed mashup.

Yup, same XD
Noodles4Anime that's crazy if I woke up in Alex wassabi's house that will be crazy and cool at the same time
What if the title was “Children of the hanging tree”? Also what if the figures in the back round were the spirits of the children. So what if the children were lured to the hanging tree in the garden of shadows, and were murdered there, trapped forever to become the children of the hanging tree.
hannah prewitt what you wrote it look like a piece of poetry from Edgar Allan Poe..
Damn if its a movie i will watch it , but i think it will work and imagine childern running and laughing in the background
Omg deep
Why did i think of fnaf..
Now I wanna make storyline with this. May I use it?
I don’t think I’ve ever heard a medley where the songs are so utterly and brilliantly entwined as this one it’s the coolest thing
Thank you so much Joe!! I'm glad you liked it :-)
The thing about Peter is that not only does he post amazing videos and has an amazing voice, but he also posts real quality content and

You just made my day!! Thank you!
Peter Hollens And you made mine!!❤️
By layering these songs together you have created a new song with darker creepier meaning. I gave me the chills and I love it. Great work!
I'd argue it was pretty dark beforehand
This is my first time even hearing about the song "Come Little Children" I quite like it.

Paladin it's from the movie Hocus Pocus if you haven't watched it you should
same here
That's just sad
Her voice completely entrances me. If I was only half awake and she said to come with her, i probably would.
It kinda sounds like this could be sung by the ghosts of the kids that died in the Hunger Games
I've never even seen The Hunger Games yet I agree with you-
A children's chorus singing the first verse of Garden of magic as a bridge or conclusion would have really driven it home.
@HQ nope
1:26 there is a stranger figure, like a shadow ,at the left of the girl
Maya Schiavina omg I saw it freaky af
O M GOSH I was wondering if anyone else saw that, it adds a lot to the creepiness of the video
I think that they planned it, if not, freaky
Maya Schiavina i know that was creepy
Maya Schiavina so freaking creepy
I am so blown away by this cover! I never even thought of these two songs together but they fit so well!! Its incredible and I love your voices together!!
And I'm obsessed with this creepy mashup now. To me, it sounds like a tale of sorrow and tragedy.
My heart was floating and my hands twirling at this heartbreaking melody. Your work is magic. ❤️
This song can be called: Come Little Children to The Hanging Tree.
You're welcome
Edit: Thanks for the likes and comments guys!
Sapphired Up That's brilliant
ROFLOLOLOLOL!!!!
Sapphired Up that's cool and creepy
That's disturbingly awesome!
Now that is what a spooky music title should be
I actually really like her voice in this song. It gives a really eery feeling because she sounds really innocent, which she is using to lure children to her.
These two songs fit perfectly together as well as yout voices. Great job you two!
Somehow this mix made it less spooky and more melancholic, which is just wonderful. Also, Baily is amazing and you should totally collab. with her for your folk songs album.
Would love a solo male cover of Come little children- this man’s voice is hypnotic!
Ok, first off, whoa. I never would've thought of layering these two songs.

Perfect! Hocus Pocus - is one of my all time favorites - features SJP singing Come Little Children and every Halloween we are always singing this song along with I Put A spell On You!
It feels like the soundtrack to the moment where a child becomes a hero.
It’s as if he remembers his childhood and what he came to. This is wonderful!
'Sup People
All the comments of the girls voice not being on point, I just want to say she atleast did it, atleast had the guts. N for the vid. Peter, it was amazing. I m throwing a Halloween Party and this song is gonna be played on repeat. I support you. Both of your voices are beautiful. Just sayin.
Her voice was beautiful, and both of their performances were stunning. I have no idea what they meant by "not being on point"
This is awesome and most definitely spook-ay! The song is great with the tones you used and the two of you sound really nice together. I still just am in love with the sets you use, they’re all so pretty/interesting. The song though... sounds like a creepy nursery rhyme.
Pink Zebra Which is wonderful! That's exactly what I thought!
Pink Zebra SPOOKAY
And true.
it is. it was used in one of the hunger games movies. i think it was catching fire
Talia O It was
the shadowy figure in the background.... IS JUST A REAPER DECORATION FOR HALLOWEEN!!!!!! LOOK CLOSER PEOPLE PLEAZE!!
hahaha It’s so funny that we added that... so scary.

thank you for the support Rebekah!
Perfect time for this video! Beautiful Singing.

Me I needed this so much!
It's so good! Your voices are so angelic and comforting which sounds so creepy and contradictory to the lyrics!
I love how the 2 songs match perfectly even better Petter Hollens is singing it
I kept rewinding whenever the scene would shift from you walking and then it would change to you doing something like screaming or shaking your head cause I loved it so much

thank you Eline! thrilled that you like it!! :)
Not many people know the whole version of come little children. So I was impressed and happy with that.
okay, now we need full cover of hellfire

needs to be Heaven's light/hellfire as the two songs encapsulate the two sides of love. well love Vs Lust.

I listen to this as a lullaby when i go to sleep. Im wierd but that what makes me myself. I like stuff that is creepy and spooky. This isnt that bad tho
Definitely relaxing listening to this
u so quirky
i spent a good few years going to sleep listening to dragonforce through the fire and the flames.
I agree
i love stuff like this one could say my personality is based off of creepy stuff but honestly what do you expect someone born on halloween to do other than that
I’d like this more if her voice was as rich and haunting as his. She has a very pop sounding voice, not bad, just not what I expected
@Melanie G I don't think so. I actually would also prefer a "softer" voice?
I agree. She doesnt have a very "haunting" voice which would have matched the tone of the matchup.
You have an eye for the macabre
There's another version I know, I can't remember the singer, but she adds whisper and reverb and I feel like this girl could benefit hardcore from it
I felt the same way her voice was much too poppy for me. It was almost chipper not dark enough for me
Wow Peter, this is awesome. I can never get over how you can change your tempo to fit the criteria of the song.
If you are taking requests still, I would love to hear you do
"Call me" by Shinedown.

The way thees songs intertwine and what they are about remind me of
"The Promised Neverland"
Ok sorry but wtf is in the background on the left side of the screen at 1:26-1:28?
Did they find Bigfoot?
I know thats a person.
Bring on the rain, erase the pain.
A blanket or something like that maybe....
Oh my gosh. I didn't even notice that. *CREEPY.*
Omg it's a hooded figure that is so creepy. But cool.
Beautiful, haunting and flat out creepy AF. Love it
Peter reminds me of when Liam O'Brien plays Caleb Widogast, they both have that air of sadness and mystery.
Omg yes!!! This is awesome!! Hocus Pocus is a Halloween classic and I am so glad you had the idea to do the song. Love it!!
Beautiful yet spooky, these are the emotions that never should mix lol, but still an awesome video :)
Haha I'll take it! Thanks :)
After years appreciating this song, i looked up for the two separate songs. Man, this version transcends both.
At about 1.22 on the timer . WHAT IS IT! Behind her in the rocks? WOOO
???
A door with a skull over it?
Did you mean at 1:26?
Raven Nivhaar what is he talking about?
Well, he's either talking about the doorway behind Bailey at 1:22 (which looks like there's a skull over it), or at 1:26 where it looks like there's a figure next to the tree.
Raven Nivhaar ah. Ok

Amazing job, Peter as always!
thanks so much Courtney!!
In the words of Sarah Sanderson...Yea Yea Yea Yea! Thank you soooo much for doing Come Little Children! I absolutely love Hocus Pocus and am actually watching it right now in my very very Halloween movie mood. :D
No way!! So cool :D I'm glad you liked it Elaine!!
I'd love to see you do Thriller in a zombie costume for Halloween! I'd love to hear Evynne singing Put A Spell On You.
This hauntingly beautiful combination of voices and songs has me captivated
waaaw,,, hocus pocus vs the hunger games ..... always amazing .... 💌💌💌❣❣❣💜💛💚💙💗💖💕
ahmed subhi ikr
Number 1 great job! I didn't realize how well these songs went together! Number 2 what in the world of Equestria is that in 1:26????? That's creepy!
I know right!?
This almost sounds like a lullaby. The music sounds so peaceful.
Im from Germany I love this mix its so cool ❤️❤️❤️😍 Wer spricht hier auch Deutsch 😊
Marie Gottschalk ich YAY ^^ Ich dachte ich wäre der einzige Deutsche hier YAY
Golden Freddy ich glaube so etwas wird niemals passieren
Did anyone see weird figures in the shadows
Jessica Merhoff yup

At 1:27
😱
Oml.
Like an elaborate version of Crowley's lullaby... I'm loving it
PETER please sing "I PUT A SPELL ON YOU"
Seconded!
I Love Tim Curry's soft sultry cover version of that song
I remember your og hanging tree cover
how does the new one compare? :)
Peter Hollens I don't think you can compare them, they're awesome in different ways!
Spooky creepy and awesome, with those little bits of .... seriously, I think you were the ghost of the guy who murdered three, except you, uh, didn't, right? :D I prefer this one for that reason, but absolutely love the original too!
Are you are you
Coming to the tree
They strung up a man
They said he murdered three
CHORUS
Strange things
Did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met at midnight
Up in the hanging tree
Are you are you
Coming to the tree
A dead man called out
For his love to flee
CHORUS
Are you are you
Coming to the tree
I told to run so
we'd both be free
CHORUS
are you are you
Coming to the tree
Wear a
necklace of rope
Side by side with me
CHORUS
Yep, it's confirmed: this is really scary... And sad.
That tree is 😰😰😰😰😰😰👌
Woops did not mean to send 👌
Anyone notice the dark figures in the background?
I did
Plural? I only saw one
Yeah there creepy
I did to
I only saw one as well
You never fail to make me happy esp around Halloween....😁❤️❤️❤️
Happy to oblige!! :D
I like how enchanting this arrangement is. As a musician and teacher I appreciate the over all quality and restraint employed throughout.
Come little children to the hanging tree
Come Little Children is my Halloween favorite! Thank you for bringing it to life! 😍👻
This mash up-duo singing is absolutely perfect, just adding the glitching effect broke the perfection scale
OMG! this is just hauntingly beautiful. I absolutely love this!
As a child with depression there's no way I could have resisted following Sarah with this song
Idk the song makes it sound like you wouldn't like whats going to happen in that forest
Oh boy, it's that time of year again. Take it away, Peter.
