Hi Van! Thanks to your informative and fun videos about Vietnam, I enjoyed my trip to Hanoi for the first time. Food is incredible and people are friendly. I definitely come back to Hanoi which is now one of my favorite cities! Big love from Japan.🇻🇳🇯🇵
Hi Van. My son and I will be in Vietnam in July, and watching your videos has eased my anxiety about venturing out there with a 12-year-old. You are so charming and fun to watch. Best of luck to you in all you do. You are so appreciated!
Thank you for the interesting dialog. I am of Japanese ancestry and American nationality, born and raised in Hawaii. 4th generation so my culture is Hybrid Hawaiian-Japanese-American. From Kiki’s description of Vietnamese culture, it sounds very similar to Hawaiian culture. The indigenous Hawaiians are very loving, caring and welcoming people like the Vietnamese. With the more convenient Visa situation and covid restrictions loosening, I’m planning a visit to Vietnam. Thank you for your very informative you tube channel and clear presentations in perfect English.
I love the video quality and sound quality of you're videos. Also the editing of the video is good. Vietnam would be a culture shock to anyone who visit the country. Thank you Van fur another great interview and video. Merry Christmas to you and you're family.
I love this! I love bearing about peaoples lives and their experiences! We all live a different life and I just love it. Was very interesting hearing him say he didn't miss Japan. My husband absolutely loved Japan (he is Vietnamese but has never been to Vietnam, we plan to go 2024!) I just love it all, it's so interesting to me.
The most memorable contact with Vietnamese that I had is a Vietnamese Restaurant in the Cleveland area where I ate often. I have also talked to many Vietnamese where I work. Very friendly people. I like their food a lot compared other Asian foods. Its often seasoned hot with peppers.
I am Japanese so this episode was especially interesting for me. Now I live in Hawaii, and when I go back to Japan, I feel they're really quiet. I tend to be too friendly to them and probably that is scaring them😆. But when it comes to customer service, they are so attentive. Sometime it's almost too much. I hope you will have a good trip to Japan, Van. I am planning to visit Ho Chi Minh for the first time in my life next month. Your videos have been very helpful and I will watch some more💖
HAHA! I watched a clip of a female westerner visiting Japan. She did mention about "over attentive" customer service in Japan that gave a backfire. She said she walked into a shop in a shopping center and a female seller kept following her and presenting products. She said that was fine for the first few minutes but she felt uncomfortable knowing someone is always behind her and waiting for her questions. She walked out and she did say she was afraid of shopping in Japan and never bought anything in shopping center during her stay in Japan.
Fantastic interview and the Japanese men was talking with true words maybe you can try interview with him again....he might reveal lots of insights about japan.
Japan had a serious littering problem 40 or 50 years ago. People would throw litter everywhere, at least when they were away from home. Many towns had illegal dumps where people would throw out old dishes, clothes, refrigerators, stoves, and even their old cars. Every river and lake was polluted. It's been cleaned up massively.
Hi Ms Van vu, i am Indonesian,i came here and subscribe your channel because you were collabs with Nihonggo Mantappu, Jerome & friends. Well, i really like Vietnam, unique country & beautifull landscape...sometimes i saw vietnam country side from US food vlogger of Sony the best ever food channel
This is brilliant! Next up Koreans. I believe South Koreans are the second largest foreign group in Vietnam (after Chinese) and also the biggest foreign investor in Vietnam. There are two large Korean neighbourhoods in Saigon and to get their views on life in Vietnam:))))))
@@jpnewman1688 Your sentence should have been like this to be precise: Lots of "young or KPop fans" Vietnamese love KR culture. I'm not sure about they act like Koreans. China ruled Vietnam for a thousand year and we still have our language and customs. How could we be like Koreans. They're just richer than us.
@@thumtlnguyen3626 so you don't know that most of Vietnamese culture came from China, with the rest came from the French, Americans, Japanese, Koreans, Cambodians, Indians, etc?? Do you know how fiat 💵 is created??

This is an excellent interview Ms. Van:)) I agree with so much of what was said. Vietnam is a very friendly place indeed (particularly the south) and miost welcoming. The food culture is wonderful as is the hospitality. I agree with Kiki that trash and littering is a massive problem here and also that there is a generation gap between young people (who generally do not litter) and the middle/elderly generation who seem to have much less awareness about this issue. Like Kiki, I was so shocked because Vietnam is a physically beautiful and diverse nation with many amazing natural sights and climates. It's such as shame to see people dropping trash in rivers, beaches and even throwing trash and cigarettes off motorbikes on the road. So, I love this nation but I would really love for trash awareness to be addressed and also for traffic rules to be enforced. Honestly, elderly members of my own family are scared to visit because of things such as crossing the road being so dangerous. Otherwise Vietnam is amazing:)))))))))))))))))))
The part about food allergy seems to be quite true. Our Asian cuisines feature so many of the "typical" ingredients that can cause serious allergic reactions for many people from other regions. But for us Asians, we are mostly "meh" about it, because it's just part of what we eat from a very young age.
In Asia it is perfectly normal to ask about are you married yet etc because people are nice and very opened. We don';t live in isolation, loneliness, unfriendliness, etc don't let other define what is normal not normal
I'm loving getting some sense of other cultures, more, all the time... & I'm kinda more & more embarrassed about some of what I'm understanding about my own culture, government, & some of the historical record. thanks for sharing, gracias
Xin chao, how are you? This seemed to be the latest video that you have uploaded on UA-cam and that was some 5 months back. I hope you are doing well with the long absence. Please do make a quick comeback. Miss your videos very much. Shall be waiting. Godspeed and cam on ban.
Trash & litter is a massive problem here, but I agree with Kiki that the young people of Vietnam are very mindful, clever and ambitious. I believe they will really elevate Vietnam into an (even more) extraordinary place in the next 5-10 years. Also, Van & Kiki would have some beautiful children....just sayin' 😉

Went to VN for the first time a few months ago and didn't once have any stomach issues, and I only ate out. In Thailand I had some slight rumblings although it's cleaner over there.
If you are richer than the people around you, you feel superior and have a higher social status. If you are poorer than the people around you, the opposite is true. Money and income is the most important factor about 'enjoying' or 'liking' living somewhere else.
