❓📦 Rocket Railways Mystery Box 📦❓

- I picked up a Mystery Box for £8 from Rocket Railways and in this video we open it up, see what's inside and if it could be useful.
These boxes are full of items which aren't good enough quality to be sold in the shop, but might be of use to modellers. Rocket Railways don't make any profit on these, the aim is purely to help the enviroment and try to prevent items going into landfill.
I think these are a great idea and my box formed the basis for a mini restoration project and allowed me to practice my painting skills.

One man's junk is another man's treasure! Seemed to work in your case. Great use of those bits and pieces.
this was so entertaining and would be such a good series!! and you could sell of them off if you wanted!
Thanks Fizzling Firebox! Glad you enjoyed it.
Dang you did well! Great job and finds
You could easily make the hedges more realistic with some clump foliage.
I personally use short bits of rope separated into strands to simulate small branches. So maybe a layer of those and then the foliage.
They definitely need something. Nice idea with the rope 👌
Hi Rob, you did well with the box of miscellaneous items, and they look exceptionally good by the time you finished them. Maybe you will do an update later with the other bits. Goes to show with a little thought, want one can do with broken and not so useful items in the spares box at home.
Love your cat and how you restored that car carrier. I love the mustangs and how you painted the orange cars.I really want to build my own model railway!
Thanks Peche_sole! I had a lot of fun with this project.
Well done, great job. Thank you for your time.👍
Thanks John 👍
good video but iv thrown out better than that you convinced me to steer well clear of rocket railway mystery box but thanks for sharing
Nice idea and a very interesting video well done.
Thanks Michael 👍
Nice job with the cars and the bridge!
Thanks, it was a fun project.
Good work on getting the transporter and bridge fixed up, a 3d printer is a definite advantage. I suppose you could make a UK arm for the German signal to make that a bit more useful unless you intend to go continental then its good as is. Those platform straights look like old Airfix kits, Dapol still make them.
I recognise the platforms. They are the old Airfix railway kits. Dapol took over the tooling. You can still buy the kits.
That tooling must be pretty old, but they still look OK.
Hi Rob which air brush set up do you use and which paints do you recommend please as thinking about purchasing one and there is so many different types to choose from
Hi Kevin, I'm not sure I'm qualified to be giving advice on airbrushing because I'm not very good, but I used this compressor and brush set from Amazon (amzn.to/3vJT8wB) and I've been using these paints from Vallejo (amzn.to/3ddW3a4) which are designed to be used in an airbrush without thinners.
Can you review the new hornby’s train set?
I'm not sure I have any of the new train sets. I've got the new GWR Terrier Train Pack arriving tomorrow though.
Great video Rob
Thanks Harry! Enjoyed your Jubilee special.
Thankyou
The end results are really good and this would of been thrown away not bad for £8
Thanks Jacob 👍
Cool Idea and great work fixing them up but I would be a little disappointed with in the Qty in the box. Still a great idea. I hope your new Layout is Progressing, can't wait to see updates. I still am trying to do my own layout slowly. Love your videos.
Thanks Tony. I'm working on the layout today. 12m of track down so far. Going to get any few metres down then grab a beer.
The box was only £8 (including P&P) and it's a box of stuff that was heading to the bin. Obviously a lucky dip, but I what I got is definitely worth more than £8. Pure chance that I already had another Faller bridge kit, getting that back out of the box after 20+ years brought back memories.
@@LittleWicketRailway Did you ever get a chance to look at the Arduino project with multiple trains on 1 loop? Take care and have fun.
Hi, I think the platform is either from the Airfix or later Dapol version of the platform kit.
I think you're right
I ordered one on the 3rd, still not arrived. I won’t use rocket again. I only used them because of your recommendation. I
Sorry to hear that Andy. Drop @rocketrailways a message, hopefully they'll sort it for you.
Just to confirm I wasn't paid to promote or recommend them. Everything in the videos is my genuine experience as a customer who visited the shop.
Hi finally arrived, great box of goodies
No matter how you try and convince yourself I think they saw you coming. Yes if you have a 3D printer you can get something out of it, but you don't own one then all you got for you £8 is a load of tat suitable for the plastic recycling bin
I got one a few weeks back and set myself the challenge of making a diorama only using the box contents just to see what was possible.
I'm going to be getting plenty more in the future. A 3d printer would certainly be handy but it's definitely not a requirement if you're willing to spend a bit of time with some styrene sheet!
Just ordered one myself, let's wait and see. But for £8 who can complain?
Hope you get some good stuff 🤞
My immediate thought was that the signal is German as well. I seem to recognise the way it looks from an old catalogue. Don't know the brand, though.
5:04 Fancy sticking that in to a box and charging somebody eight quid for it. What a joke.
Dapol platform, so you can add to it
Oh yeah! That mould must have been around a while!
