At 00:14, you can clearly see a blurry me in the 3rd row directly beneath guitar player Danny McBride... 16 years old at the time and bouncing enthusiastically!
I have posted the only two digital clips I have from this concert, which I attended as an audience member in 1983. The rest of the show I have only on a NTSC Beta Video taped off TV in 1984. I also have a VHS PAL copy of CHRIS DE BURGH: THE VIDEO, but alas no PAL VHS player. If I ever manage to get it converted to DVD then I will post more... :-) Till then hope you enjoy these...
I met Tom Baker in a Chicago Dr. Who Convention back in 1984, and he kept getting asked if he played the Ferryman in the video. He said it wasn’t him. I would bet it was the guitar player as they look similar.
On August 2, 1867, Crazy Horse participated in the Wagon Box Fight, also near Fort Phil Kearny. Lakota forces numbering between 1000 and 2000 attacked a wood-cutting crew near the fort. Most of the soldiers fled to a circle of wagon boxes without wheels, using them for cover as they fired at the Lakota. The Lakota took substantial losses.
What happened to the official video that played on MTV? It had people getting on a boat with the skeleton figure at the back of the boat.???? Does anyone remember this?
Not the one where He takes people in a boat!!!! That is the original. I know...I watched it when it first came out. I believe that I've checked all the videos for it.
This has bits and pieces of the original video that was in heavy rotation on MTV. Where is the one that had, what is rumored to be, Tom Baker at the rudder at the very end?
Doesn't work for Sydney ferries: "You must have a valid ticket (and concession card if required) before travelling. Fines apply to customers who cannot produce a valid ticket or concession pass".
In the bridge of the song, lines from Shakespeare's The Tempest can be heard, spoken very low by British actor Anthony Head. [Act 5, Scene 1, lines 230 - 237] BOATSWAIN: I'd strive to tell you. We were dead of sleep And (how we know not) all clapp'd under hatches; Where, but even now, with strange and several noises Of roaring, shrieking, howling, jingling chains, And moe diversity of sounds, all horrible, We were awak'd; straightway at liberty; Where we, in all her trim, freshly beheld Our royal, good, and gallant ship;
Lady In Red got all the hype, but this was my fave by far.
One of the songs that I will have at my funeral
The best Chris De Burgh song ever
I've always loved Chris De Burgh's songs and will forever. They don't make music and songs like they used too.

Yeah same!!
It is a great motto to listen and live by. Thanks Chris!!
Absolutely love this song in my 20s. I wish they had the original video posted. It was posted for a while but somebody pulled it. ♥️

It is an impending haste mixed with a pagan feeling.
One o the best done by Chris de Burgh
Awesome, but the thumbnail is horribly misleading. I was looking for that video. I can't find it anywhere.
What happened to the official video that played on MTV? It had people getting on a boat with the skeleton figure at the back of the boat.???? Does anyone remember this?
I remember it from the early days of MTV. But I can't seem to find in anywhere on UA-cam. Funny because most videos can be found...

I do see one with the boat.......I just don't remember it being that way. :(
Yes - that is the original one with Chris in the English-Vampire suit
This has bits and pieces of the original video that was in heavy rotation on MTV.
Where is the one that had, what is rumored to be, Tom Baker at the rudder at the very end?
srussert28 Not at the very end; look at 1:15. But it wasn't Tom Baker after all; in was, in fact, Chris De Burgh himself.
Thank you for that. I was wondering if that. Was tom baker.. Or wasn't. Thank you maskedman.
Awesome
Still awesome

The lady in red is dancing with the ferryman.
Four people paid the ferryman
practical advice
Eight people didn't pay the ferryman.
Could someone please write out the spoken bit? I've never been able to make it all out.

I knew where the lines were from, but I always thought that was Chris himself reciting them. We learn something new every day!
