I can't believe how good this little crawler is.. I always gave FTX a miss because I didn't really think they were hobby grade and a bit cheap.. But after receiving this today it is giving my fully upgraded scx10 v1 a run for it's money 😀👍 it is quality 🤘
I'm sooo happy you like this, I've had mine (rgt branded) for 3 months now. So far I've added a 20kg servo, desert lizard 90mm shocks, alloy wheels, proline hyrax tyres, metal axles, hobbywing axe R2 1400kV 540 (3d printed skid). And it is so capable. Its my first proper crawler, appreciate you won't be modding like I have but it can be done. I've also bought a second one, ya know, as back up 😂. There's a few videos of it on my channel. Great video as always Phil 💀
I've put some grippier wheels on it and am planning on a bigger motor too - do you have a link for the 3d printed parts you've used, or did you design them yourself?
FTX really have upped their game, with the Geo, and now this one. My son has been making noises about wanting something more scale looking, as he's got a Mauler at the moment. The Kanyon is too big, but this would be perfect. Hopefully, there will be some upgrade parts coming as well. Really nice. 😎👍🏻
I started with a hbx devastator, went to an rgt adventurer, then to an sg 1801. I'm planning on bigger scales soon. Nice review. Half the reason I got into crawlers was because of reviews like this. Good work.

I picked one of these up for my daughter, but the RGT version as we are from the US. Fantastic truck! Did kill the trans gears and the servo, but swapped in a stealth x and a traxxas servo and dropped some 1.5 rc4wd wagons with mud thrashers. What a little truck now! It was good before but damn!
Looks like a ranger Xc with bigger wheels, bigger motor and a nice body so should be able to handle a more demanding trail. Thank you for the awesome video
This thing looks amazing. I had the rgt V2 model, and all I changed was the esc to a hobbywing 1060. I've since sold it. Been looking at a couple of the rgt V3 for my 2 boys, so they'll stop breaking my scx10 ii. Great review on the ftx version. We get the rgt version here in the states, but no dealers. Currently $200 on Amazon. 2 of these for the price of one big brand truck ain't bad. 👍
You get a lot of fun for your money! I have the RGT car and it's been going steep for months! Of course you can't compare the car with a TRX4, but the Jimny doesn't even cost half as much and is still a lot of fun!
I have bought RGT 136100v3 (lemon Jimny version) in late May this year for 180$ with shipping from the EU warehouse. It was my first crawler and 2nd RC car in general. It has great Flysky radio (FS-G4P) with DIP switches to modify settings on the fly like Drag Brake. ESC is made by Hobbywing and it is integrated with quite a descent light controller. It looks quite to scale, to be honest. No body posts, hinge design. But the cons is the drivetrain. The gearbox has plastic gears and no metal upgrades are available. Front CVA/universal driveshafts in axels are another weak spot. Since the purchase, it was out of use waiting for parts for 3 months. I have changed the skidplate to a 3D printed one to put a different gearbox and 540 motor. To sum up, it is a delicate platform with quite expensive spare parts and no most wanted upgrades available. It is capable of light trail runs not rock crawling. I have lately built a TRX-4 Sport KIT just because I was tired of all those RGT breakouts. 180$ for RGT was a hot deal but today I would save that money and buy TRX-4 Sport KIT instead.
I had no drivetrain problems so far and I do go for rough semi-rock-crawling trails. On the other hand the body is brittle and body mounted bumper doesnt help at all...
Additional information, remove the shock absorber drain out the silicon oil and move the shaft in and out noticing the stiffness of the shaft. Unscrew the shaft side plastic end cap and move the shaft in and out again, you should notice how much easier the shaft is to move. This is what makes the car bobble instead of absorbing the rough terrain if the dampers are working correctly.
Bought a lime green (RGT) for my 4yo for christmas, he is really good with his 1/24 so i think he's ready for a small 1/10 to ride with me and my buddies. Cant't wait for it to arrive. 😁

I do hope i'm mistaken but those axles look the same as the ones on their 1/16th scale Ranger XC. Afterall, FTX have a rep for fitting undersized axles to their more compact 1/10th crawlers. The Outback 1 and 2 axles were used on 1/16th and 1/18th rigs and used to round the plastic locker, bend the axle shafts and snap them off at the hex especially with metal beadlocks and wheel weights. My budget choice would be the FS Racing/Reely Free Men 1/10th crawler. Proper 313mm wheelbase and basically an SCX10 II on a budget
I got the Forrest green one for 200 dollars, amazing little rig for the money! Idk how they even made this for that price lol they are releasing a old bronco on this v3 platform it looks amazing!

Hi there, I have just bought a Paso 3 and done a complete strip down before using it. I found a problem with the shock absorbers on the crawler. Watching videos of the car from yours and others I noticed that the car seems to bobble instead of the shocks working, thinking the damper oils were to heavy I examined the dampers and found the the shock shaft is stiff to move because the damper end cap is crushing the two rings on to the shaft and causing it to be very stiff to move, I modified the inside of the end cap so the shaft moves freely without binding. Super cool bro
Impressive 👍🏻
Looked like fun & isn’t that what RC is all about.
do you recomend the redcat gen 7 sport rc crawler
It doesn't seem to have that _'empty Lexan shell'_ sound, a real turn off after being exposed to scale crawler bodies. Nice find, dude. I may have to pick one up.
I couldnt find a better way to message or ask a question. I own an arrma bigrock. With little places to bash. But its my 1st RC so I don't wanna sell it. And would lije to go crawler style. What would you reccomend for gen7pro and under? Please help. Im a newb and doing my best to not waste money lol
I am Between this and a kanyon as my first crawler and I am. Not sure what to choose 🙄
Kanyon is a good buy… and so is this. Tough choice
Anyone know of aftermarket replacement driveshafts for this?
I did the same thing with the steering 😂
