One of my top favorite gospel quartets! Amen!
Grew up listening to these guys. In college my New York Catholic roommate said that he now understood why Baptists sing so much.
This song came to me a few minutes ago. I've been singing it wondering why the Lord would drop this song into my spirit. As Believers, we must wear this world as a loose garment. Store up your treasures in heaven and be not distracted by earthly pursuits. Let us set our minds on the things above.

That's absolutely correct.
The minister of my Church sang this Song Acapella at my Grandfathers funeral and ever since then when we sing it at church i get emotional.
Woke up in the middle of the night and the lyrics to this song came to me! I hadn't sang it for years. I had to search for it this morning and this is the first I found!! Amen!!!

There is absolutely NOTHING wrong with Jimmy Fortune! He is a beautiful singer/songwriter and an all-around down to earth great guy. I prefer his singing to Lou's. I have all his gospel cd's. I've listened to the Statler Brothers since they opened for Johnny Cash. To each his own.

What a wonderful song and these gentlemen sing it so well!! I didn't know this song was so recent...I had thought it was from the Carter Family. This song is included in a classic set of young adult novels by writer Cynthia Voight. One of the characters loves to perform classic gospel songs on his guitar and he likes this one a lot on the novel...Dicey's Song, set on the islands of the Cheasepeak Bay.
And for the record, that silly Mercedes Benz song is spoofing not this song but the people who value material things over God. They don't sing about "O Lord, you know I have no friend but you"...they're so silly that they would probably sing, "Oh Lord, won't you buy me a Mercedez Benz., my friends all drive Porches, I must make amends.."" It's not really complementary to the car company, actually.....the point is that they're so shallow that's what they would sing for Gospel songs, or instead of Gospel songs, because wealth is their gospel.....I like this one better. And they sing it so well...what wonderful musicians!
Actually it does go back to the original Carter Family. The Carters called it "I Can:t Feel At Home". Somewhere along the way the title got changed to " This World Is Not My Home" .
