I am happy to hear that. There is NOTHING compared to mixing with vinyl. Nowadays I'm amazed at so many so called "dj's" nowadays that never touch a vinyl record in their life. I come from the time of mixing with turntables without pitch control (burn those fingers!!!) By the time I bought my first pair of 1200's (in 1989), I'm pretty sure I saw God coming out of those boxes. :)
Once again, you are on top of your game. The price for these bad boys are well worth it, you will not need to do any type of upgrade, player wise if you get these.
As a non-prol DJ, I've got to say that doing it vinyl is a great way of appreciating music - I have to really consider what records I spend my money on, and it's great fun trying to hunt out little gems which mix well. But If I did do more paid gigs than I do now, I'd need a massive library and being an MP3 DJ seems easier. Also, decks/discs are very heavy. In essence: it seems like digitial is the more practical choice for pros. Thoughts? Does anyone here exclusively use vinyl professionally?
Those ST-150s look heavenly. The only two things putting me off upgrading to them from 1200s (and it *would* be an upgrade) are the cost and added weight of each deck. That's just down to personal circumstances though. Anyway, I've only been DJing for two years now - started off digital before deciding I loved it enough to invest in vinyl gear. I do prefer vinyl by far and also wouldn't go back, but it's a very expensive pursuit!
Good to hear that you'll never go back to CDJ's...I'm currently using Traktor Pro 2 and love how creative I can be with it! I know the software inside out! The thing that draws me to the Z2 is the fact I can play regular vinyl along with Traktor...I wanna bring my Technics 1210's back to life they have been gathering dust for the last 6 or so years!!! Great review and Happy New Year dude!
Great informative review man! I was thinking about purchasing a pair of CDJ 2000 nexus with a DJM 2000 nexus mixer but the whole set up will cost me over £6000.I am afraid to purchase anything Pioneer because they keep upgrading their top line gear every other year! So I'm gonna bring out my Technics 1210's buy myself a Traktor Z2 mixer with an X1 & F1 controller along with a Maschine MK 2.That set up will cost me a little under £2000...I'm also thinking about getting the Ableton Push controller
Despite the CDJ-2000Nexus being totally badass in function and design, and the industry standard and if money wasn't the object..well that's a different story. Anyway, would the Denon SC2900 being just as good deck, "feature wise". Then again I'm not sure you have done a full review on the SC2900. Great review as always.
So I have a quick question about pitch bend. I noticed on my first controller the Mixtrack Pro 3 that it had a pitch bend button that sped up or slowed down the song and you could do crazy things with it when in loops. But I can't find it on my new controller the DDJ SZ or even in this review on the CDJ 2000 Nexus. So is it even on these items or is it only a mixer option when getting into more professional style gear? Thus, not on the DDJ SZ mix or controller but for the CDJ style it would be on a mixer DJM 900 for example? And to further what I mean and not just make slight adjustments, I'm talking about literally holding something down to keep the track sped up continuously or slow down, like the major DJs use for ending their sets. I'm sure you know what I mean if not just look at some of the ending sets from Tomorrowland by some of the big name DJs. Thanks DJbooth!
Alright that's great to know! But how do they do it then if pitch bend isn't on the player? There has to be some way of doing it wouldn't you think or it's pre recorded but seems to be too legit for that.
+blackoutkiller The way it's done is with (wide) being selected on the pitch on a CDJ2000 nexus/900nexus etc etc. You can now speed the track up as fast or as slow as you want, & by pressing the (key lock) button ("on") the key will always stay the same. ("Off") the key will change making the vocals & music sound like it's really speeding up (chimp monk style) or slowing down. Plus you can have your CDJs linked & hit sync at that moment in time & have all the CDJs in the mix speeding up or slowing down with the use of only 1 pitch fader on the CDJ. They will all stay in time & never fall off. Great feature when sync is used in that way. These are the players used at all major shows & events. The CDJ2000-nexus are the industry's standard. Nothing better right now. Hope this helps. :))
Hi, I've got a question about the 'Needle search'. How do you unlock the needle search because when I use the cdj2000 nexus, it says that it is locked...
+DJbooth DJ's Okay but there isn't a button or something for that? Because a friend of mine thought that he there was a button for but he has forgotten that.. haha
+SuperFlashDriver I believe I removed it for music copyright reasons, but It shouldn't be an issue any longer. I will try to find it and re-upload it to youtube. The CDJ-2000Nexus review is still up though. Thanks.
You should have the full version if you have the decks. Just analyze your tracks on the USB then load them into the player and you should have waveforms...
This guy has some of the best reviews on youtube.

+blackoutkiller Pitch bend is never on the mixer and its always on the player. Not sure why the CDJ's don't have it...

+blackoutkiller Well, you can use the jog wheels to pitch bend when they are in pitch bend mode.

Is something like this on the DDJ SZ or just the CDJs? But thanks man, totally helps! You are awesome!
Do you recommend to buy a pioneer controller dji-sz or will be better to buy cdj 2000

+albertone620 It all depends how you want to DJ. They both work great.
+DJbooth DJ's , ok thanks!
Hi,
I've got a question about the 'Needle search'. How do you unlock the needle search because when I use the cdj2000 nexus, it says that it is locked...
+Bastiaan Raa I believe you have to pause the track first...

For some reason I can't find your CDJ-2000 review. Can you help me?
+SuperFlashDriver I believe I removed it for music copyright reasons, but It shouldn't be an issue any longer. I will try to find it and re-upload it to youtube. The CDJ-2000Nexus review is still up though. Thanks.
***** Okay. I was just wondering.
+SuperFlashDriver Ahhh! It was a written review only! Check it out. djbooth.net/dj-equipment/review/pioneer-cdj-2000
