Hey CB! Excellent guidance from you on welding thin material. Thank you. I needed the refresher. Stellar work, my friend! Thank you for taking the time to make this video! Obewan Phillips, and his electrode light saber at work. I think the force is with you! 🙂
Like the advice good info. I’ve had this problem in the past thin to heavier metal. I like the way you did this makes good sense. Thank you for sharing this info.
Always love seeing real world weld shop jobs. You think maybe a shop tour on how your shop is laid out.Maybe what you did starting your welding career. All the shops I worked at in my younger days were cluttered dark dingy with few 30w light bulbs 20ft in the air.lol seems you have things organized well. great videos!
Lots of other video of the shop in my other videos...watch them all...I talk about what I did in the past in videos too...I'll keep your ideas in mind and maybe do a video like your suggestion someday
U can see that. Who fabricated that should of know that. And the do! But this is why they built it this way for this reason. If it was built in the 70's this would not of happened.
Depends...not all of it behaves the same depending on how it was prepped...ya just go at it with an arsenal of grinders, brushes, torches, and sanders until ya get the result ya need. In alot of cases with stick welding I'll just grind enough to get a rod started and then weld through it, powerbrushing afterwards then running passes over that
0:39 Hey CB I'm curious what is that metal ladder type bracket hanging up above you in the shop? I keep seeing it but not sure what its purpose is exactly? I know its not just to hold a coiled up extension cord up there. Those dump trailers are not always built with the best & strongest materials to save money, obviously. Almost all the ones ive seen & used are repaired on a few spots. Usually the latch breaks off the back doors too. I've seen the axle spring perch & leveling braket broken on quite a few also. Overall, they just lead a pretty tough life if they are actually used regularly in construction biz. Nice job on repair though!👍🏻👌🏻💪🏻🛠️🔧🔩🗜️📐✏️📏⛓️👨🏻🏭⚡💥💨
Couldn't you add metal to the back side, opposite of the C-channel mounting bracket(inside where tarp rolls up into)? Also I think you could've gone all the way around that bracket & just possibly notch trailer side a little or just have the guy make new holes for those brackets to account for the added metal. Anyways looks good! 👍🏻👨🏻🏭🍻
Thank you for the reply. I weld about 4 times a year but I have noticed I have better luck with a 1/8 verses a 3/32 with burn through on thin metal. That was welding a mower deck with 6013 though using a Lincoln buzz box. Keep up the good work and BeSafe!

Great vid big shooter
Nice work CB, What have you found is the best way to remove powder coating?

@@NBSWELDING Thanks
i was hopin' that you would whip out some 5P+ 1/8" rod and weld it perfectly without any blowouts
And did....thanks for watching and commenting 👍

The ladder overhead in the shop is a ladder from a tree stand that my neighbor didn't want anymore...I've been using it as a shelf
I don't think the job needed anymore time or material put into it besides what I did to it
@@NBSWELDING 👍🏻👌🏻Cool man thanx. 🍻

Have you ever used 7016 electrodes? I'm just learning how to weld so you videos are a great learning tool.
I've heard of 7016 but I don't remember ever using them
Great job! What size rod and amps did you use? Good information as always. Be Safe!
1/8"5P+.....77 amps

Would TIG have been an alternative option for the brackets?
No...this material is far too contaminated to be TIG welded and TIG would be very slow on material this thick
Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Good insight thank you.
