Worth noting the Rome Ostia half in March. Short trip around the city and then a straight road to the old port town. Quite flat too... Completely agree about the winter training being the best bit! The reward of getting in after a long run in the cold is unbeatable for me.
Sounds like a fun packed calender of races! Hopefully see you at bourton Warwick isn't flat, but it is fairly fast. Bath is reasonably quick apart from the cheeky hill at the end, where you will lose about 20 seconds. The surrey half in Wokingham is a good course, same day as bath 👍
Loving the running plans Andy, a nice mixed bag to keep things exciting. I've decided to concentrate on my 5k time over the next few weeks and try and PB, until the start of my next marathon block. I've decided to do Milton Keynes. Have you run it? Look forward to the journey 🎉
A blast from the past, I remember doing the Bourton 10K when I think Mark Flint won it in just over 29mins!!! He looked like he floated over the ground! Anyway, if the Jewlers still sponsor it, it should be a good event. Dennis Walmsley was the local hero!
The video I’ve been waiting for! Very much like you, ran Dublin this weekend in a PB 2:55 but should have done better really (poor fuelling plan and inadequate mileage in build up). We’re all in that post marathon funk! Thanks mate, great video and good luck on the shorter stuff, that’ll also be my focus for next while!
@ cheers mate! Yep. Few hills in it for sure. Average mileage ended up being 49k for the 12 weeks due to some illness and the impact of small kids on training! So given that I shouldn’t be too disappointed. I do wonder how you manage to fit in such high mileage constantly with a busy lifestyle very impressive juggling! 👍
@@TheFODRunnercheers Andy I’ll let him know 👍🏻 he’s talking about doing some downhill 10 miler up in Carlisle that day. No idea what he could be missing out on 🤦♂️
@ you might it’s flat but you’re a significantly better athlete than me! Don’t let me put you off as it’s a great route through the countryside on closed roads.
@@TheFODRunner it definitely is not flat. Around 450-600ft elevation. But definitely a good one to do in the run in to a flatter HM. The hills are not horrendous.
@@TheFODRunner hopefully I have not put you off. I have run a 1:15 at Warwick half before and prob would have done a faster time if I had not ill the last couple of years. We are around the same ability from what I can gather so you should still be able to hit a good time.
I used to love 1/2 marathons They are fine. They’re easy on your body when you run one weekend if you want to that part of the training. . She needs to be more dedicated. They’re great training, fun I enjoy more than the 10K. Hate 5k Sunday, I would love to see how you perform. I think you do great on a trail like 50 K not nothing really too far but I could trail 50 K be cool to see you run
Hi Andy I applied for London half and paid for Brighton half thinking I prob wouldn't get london , but I did get it and now have them both to do just 4 weeks apart in March. Ami risking injury, how would you suggest going about training for the 4 weeks in-between the 2 races? Thankyou
I’d make one a goal race and the other the backup… then there’s no issue 👊 make the decision closer to the time to see what the weathers like and then just have a week of easy running post 1st half… smal workouts in the 2nd week, normal workouts 3 week, taper 4th week
Thanks for the video - motivational as always
Oh mate, thank you very much, thats really kind!
Warwick is definitely not flat, though does have a quick slight downhill finish. A well organised and enjoyable experience though.
I’m quite tempted… but others have said this too, so I might reconsider!
@@TheFODRunnerdefinitely not flat but nice route
Wish you the best, Andy!
Look forward to your recordings of your journeys and races!
Thank you!
planning the next six months is the best fun after a hard marathon race
It really is!!

We hope to join you at Bourton. Fingers poised on entry morning...
Can’t wait for it, 1st December I believe…
Sounds like run plans and it is great to see you so happy and excited! Have a great time in your Fall and Winter running! Brrr colder and wet!
Thanks! I can’t wait 👍
Good to see you keeping that volume relatively high through the winter. That is going to pay huge dividends next year. Great work.
Thanks, I hope so 👊
Head up to Edinburgh for the marathon. You should get free entry with your time, it's the end of May & it'll likely be freezing & wet 🥶
Why on earth would you get free entry to Edinburgh with a 2:44? 😂😂
@@Digitall3 🤷♂Ask the organiser. Although he's out luck - they seem to have dropped the standard to 2:40 now. Back to the drawing board.
I would love to do edinburgh one day!
I’m doing that next year. 🎉
Most years it’s pretty hot on Edinburgh marathon day
Sounds like a fun packed calender of races! Hopefully see you at bourton

Thanks Mike! I did actually check out the Surrey half but didn’t pay too much attention too it, you think it’s flatter than Warwick yes?

You should have a look at the llandeilo 10 miler on new year's it's a great race pretty much 7 mile uphill 😂
Ooof, sounds brutal mate 😂
Great plan Andy. I ran Warwick last year and have booked for next year as it is local for me. Word of caution, it isn’t flat! Undulating!

Bath half is in March Andy (and that hill at the end is pretty bad 😅)
You could try Boston UK half on April 13th if you want something super flat.
Thanks Ann! Yes I have heard Boston is really flat, its very tempting....
Good morning. You can to start with the Hyrox, crossfit, Trail run, relax, yoga.........All the best in your new challenge. Like. Have a great day.
Thanks buddy!
What’s the difference between strength and base training or are they the same?
Not much, but in a mile strength based phase I focus on not only more hilly workouts but also more hills in the runs in general to build more strength
Life after a marathon is so sad 🤣… all these things for that 🤣 cheers buddy 👋🇫🇷😉
Haha it sounds sad for sure!

I do 😂
bonus coffee review as a sideline .. 🙂
Absolutely! it was sh*t
Sign up for Berlin
Maybe...
Have you considered Fleet Half?
I did that as my tune up half in my London 2015 (!!) marathon block. It was the Brooks Fleet half then. Really enjoyed it
I have, but I heard it was quite hilly?
