When I started I used to run flat out round the block with no warm up - was bit over 0.5 mile. I then thought would try 2 laps. Easy to see why I was mainly a 800/1500 runner! Bit later I did a "long" route which was bit under 3 miles. Even when I inevitably stopped going flat out every run, I would come back to those routes (and a few more by then) to see what could do. Might be "fun" to try them again now some 40 years later. Lockdown was the last time I really did any "serious" time trials. Good tests as got no excuses if set off too quick!
Love this Andy. I am at a bit of a loss with what to do over winter. Spring marathon but want to go into that block super fit and ready to go. I am thinking just to gradually increase milage over the winter and include some speed work to try and make sure im in great shape come time to start the marathon block
Great stuff andy. What are your thoughts on 1 min on 1 min off intervals re- the recovery minute? I used to jog them, now I walk them to get my heart rate lower so I can put more into the 1 min hard. I seem to be running them quicker compared to last year.
Great question! I tend to walk inbetween reps when I’m in a proper speed block and I’m really focusing on those top end intervals… like 400s / 200s out on the road. For this type of first workout back, I’m literally just trying to spin the legs again and stress the body to get the system fired up
A Bill & Ted massage gun. Excellent!! Is it as good as Bob & Brad's?! Oops! 😂
Only a generation relate to Bill and Ted… it’s lost on the youth sadly…
It's all about the fun Andy! Great stuff!
Absolutely 👊
Looking forward to those videos Andy 👍 I love a good old fashioned tempo run..... which basically means your eyeballs out the whole way ! 😂
You got it 😂

Absolutely you should! It’s great how we all started out doing those things.. fun to revisit them every now and again 😀
So happy to see the Hyperion 2 getting work in just crossed 150 miles in mine and still loving them
Amazing shoe aren’t they!
Challenges are so much fun!!! I love them for myself, too!
They’re great aren’t they!
those challenges sound like great fun and are a wonderful reward for all the hard training you did for the marathon
Thanks Thomas! I can’t wait 👊
Good luck Andy - I think you’ll surprise yourself 😮
Thanks 👊
Bill & Ted’s massage gun haha brilliant!
Excellent adventures 🫡 😂
Good luck in the race. Like to Andy. !!! Happy Halloween 🎃!!!!.
Thanks buddy! Happy Halloween 🎃

Sounds like a good plan buddy, lay the foundations for what’s the come in January 👊

Agreed, I've started doing 1 min walks between my 200's , 400's, 800's and mile repeats and I've found it's made a big difference
You'll be amazed how fast you can get after a marathon block.
Yeah I’m hoping so buddy!
Would there not be a parkrun Saturday you could use as the 5k time trial or would you prefer it solo?
Not local that’s flat and fast, I’d probably have to go the Newport for that as a really fast one and that’s about 50 mins away
@TheFODRunner makes sense then
Those fuelcell TCs were so unstable 😂
Madly unstable… anything below a “fast” pace was gonna break an ankle.. but the second you went fast they flew like a rocket
@ gave mine away before the ankle gave way!!
