As an Aussie I used Redbacks as a kid (back in the 90’s 😅). I watched the video about your criticism about Blundstones which have been my favourite work boots for years. Watching this video convinced me to go out and order a pair, who outta thought a North American UA-camr would convince me to purchase a boot made in my home country. Love this channel ✌🏽
Haha love it mate, good on you! One day my boots will take me to Aussie soil for sure! 🥾🥾
Have you heard of rock rooster? They make a similar boot
Hi Canada here. I’m the same. Have 3 Blundstone & love it for years. When I found out about Redback , I’m curious & tried Can’t get out of my mind & bought one. The best boots & Suoer comfy. Well made ( check it out how’s it’s made ) & looks sharper. I highly recommend. Enjoy your Redback 😅👍😜😎❤️🇨🇦
Great work. Love the positivity and the review. Keep it going!
Ethan, Appreciate you taking the time to write that. What boot's are you rocking these days? Own a pair of Redbacks??
Just a small correction to boot sizing. The half sizes for redback are actually the same size as it's whole number counterpart, but it's the wide version. So a size 9 and size 9.5 are the same length, but the 9.5 is wider and has more room above the foot. Anyways, thanks for the review!
I hear ya there, I'll be trying the half size down next time.
@@GentlemansJourney Man, I'm sorry lol. Watched your update video and per the comments you obviously know this now and didn't need to be told again! My bad, haha
@@anon4434 All good! Could be helpful for those checking the comments too!
You really helped me since Im hesitating between blundstone and redbacks these days. Thank you so much!
Come to that dark side friend :) :) :) Thanks so much for watching!
You can’t compare blunnies to these. I’ve worked in 3 pairs of redbacks and have 2 pair for honey dos since it’s all I wear. Had a pair of blunnies and they lasted a year
@@blessedlife93 Thanks for the info!!
Those boots looks awesome!! Love the overall design
I'm really loving them! Thank you for watching mate.
I like your vibe, happy vibe!
Thanks for the video.
Cheers man! Means a lot👍 🥾🥾
My Redbacks are 7 years old now and going great. The sole never comes apart.. on any Redbacks I have had. Super amazingly comfortable and confident walking in them.. better then any Dr. Martens or Soleovair. These are the new Docs!
That’s so awesome!! 🥾🥾
I am definitely going to pick up a pair of Redbacks to replace my aging blundstones. For what it's worth, I'm in Southern California and have worn these with shorts plenty of times - typically out doing projects around the house, running to and from Home Depot, or maybe running around in the mountains hiking around... It's a versatile look, and you just gotta own it! Very VERY casual!
Good on you mate and thanks for watching🥾🥾
Just bought a pair yesterday and I cannot wait to wear them!
That's exciting!! I am releasing my one year review video of them very soon, stay tuned.
I love my redbacks , 3 years in no complaints.
Heck yes!
I watched this video so many times before I ordered a pair of Redbacks. I’ve had them for about two weeks now and have worn them everyday. I haven’t even really thought about wearing any of my other shoes or boots. I’m hoping that the comfort really lasts for a while. I hope the foam doesn’t break down like on other shoes. If it lasts I may never go back to another boot. Love them so far! Thanks for helping me get to the decision to get them!
That's so great to hear!! Thanks for watching. I think mine still feel just as great s they did day one. Loving them so much. They remain my go-to boots
Did you order a half size down?
@@BigCheeseEDC I ordered 10.5 uk which is 11.5 us and I am an 12 in tennis shoes.
@@BigCheeseEDC I ordered a full size down from my sneaker size. I wear 9 in other boots so I just went with an 8 since they come in UK sizing and they fit pretty well.
well, i put croc insole inside ... crazy comfortable .. try it (well, if u can buy fake croc, alot cheaper), use croc insole all my boots include redwing
Yes, rocks do get stuck on the sole. The most comfortable boot I've ever purchased. 2yrs. later the sole still looks brand new. Check out Rose Anvil review.
That's a great report! Thanks for stopping by the channel.
Thinking about geting a pair of redbacks was worry about dole wearing out
When I was in the US Navy I wore boots exactly like this except they were black and steel toed. They were only available to E7 and above and officers, we called them Chiefs boots. I was lucky to get myself a pair of somehow. They were better than the normal boots that we were issued because they did not have any laces and could slip on quickly. I still have them in a duffel bag somewhere.
That’s such a great story, if you ever dig them out send me a pic on Facebook or Instagram. Thanks for watching! 🥾🥾
I live in AZ, basically the same climate as OZ. I wear at the werehouse, on the lake, winter, summer, and yes, with shorts!
Absolutely love it man! 🥾🥾
Love my new redbacks. I have wide flat feet, the bobcats fits like a glove
Which model did you get? Loving mine too, they are my dailies
@@GentlemansJourney bobcats are ok but if want a really good pair boots you gotta get a pair nicks hand made boots
My first pair of Redbacks I had about 10 years ago lasted over 3 years. The current pair I have lasted just 1. While they were very comfortable they should have lasted longer in my opinion. I am moving on to a pair of White's now. Great video and tons of information!
Man I don’t blame you one bit, good on ya! Thanks for watching and taking time to drop a comment.🥾🥾
Care to go more in depth?
I am rough on footwear most shoes dont last me 6 to 8 months. My job tends to eat footwear. That said redback is my favorite shoe/boot. It bridges the gap between so well. I have owned two pair my current pair is 4 years old and worn almost daily. Not much to dislike for a boot under 200 bucks!
Wow 4 years, Impressive! I agree that they are a great balance between boot and shoe. Stacked up against other $200 boots, these hold their own very well. Thanks for giving us a better understanding of these boots!!
I normally pick mines up from the snap- on mechanic tool truck I been wearing them for the last 10 years the leather cleans up good
That’s awesome, probably the cheapest thing you get when he comes by😅😉! Love my snap-on and can’t say enough good about my boots. 🥾🥾thanks for watching!
They look like a really good quality boot and I’ve heard nothing but good things about them. My only problem with them is their aesthetics. Love the traditional upper look but the soles look a bit too much like an industrial boot for me. The clear sole and trainer like air pockets make these a bit too difficult to wear in anything other than an outdoor situation in my opinion. I know people often tip these as a better alternative to Blundstone, but I think the Blundstones look a more stylist boot and it’s probably why they are so popular. I will definitely keep an eye on this brand though and hope they bring out more options in future. Great review, thanks for sharing 👍🏻.
I think you nailed it. They don’t have the sleek profile of a more dressy boot. When I got my Rossi boots I wanted A sleeker profile in their Barossa boots but couldn’t get my size imported so I went with the Endura which is more comparable to these Redback boots. Thanks for watching and happy new year. 🥾🥾
@@GentlemansJourney Indeed, happy new year from the UK 🍻
@@henners88 Rossi and Blundstones are not made in Australia anymore.
@@GoatzombieBubba I’m not Australian myself so it’s irrelevant to me where they are manufactured. I’ve owned a pair of Blundstone 585’s since January 2023 and can confirm they are very good quality and been worn most days since I bought them. Apart from a tiny bit of sole wear, they still look brand new, especially when I treat them with the rustic cream. Very happy with them, Australian or not 👍🏻
Redback boots are god tier boots
I'm Australian been wearing redbacks all my life (33) my current pair are well over a year old over and still new after 5days a week 9hr days 👌🏻
That’s awesome man!! Thanks for watching 🥾🥾
I have found they are great! Small rocks do get stuck in the bottom. But my feet don’t hurt at the end of the day
Wear mine several times a week! Thanks for watching
Check them 'out of the box'. Where the rubber sole meets the leather upper, the leather on mine were deeply cut where the rubber had been trimmed. Sent them back and awaiting a replacement pair.
That's a bummber... But thanks for posting that here for others to check out! Appreciate you taking the time to comment and watching the video. We have some other good ones on this channel as well and plenty of others coming soon.
Cheers.
Ahh gee dang it, those boots are real neat.
I can tell there good because of the way they are.
Glad you like em! Thanks for watching
How neat is that?
Have you tried the other redback slip ons? I called redback to get the differences between the slip ons. They said the great barrier tend to run a little narrower due to the design with the leather. I tried the easy escape , black ones, and noticed that my foot does feel like it’s swimming in them even tho the length is good. Great review. Thanks
Hey Joey, I have not had experience with any other Redback Boots. I am surprised to hear that they said great barrier are more narrow because I feel like they are a bit too big in the toe box as is. It's a lot different wearing these than my Thursdays. The Captains seem to fit like a glove.
Btw I was surprised to see we share the same foot size dynamic LOL. I’m 10.5 in Redbacks
In Vans I wear a US 12,
And with a lot of Nikes I need a US 13 because they fit rather narrow.
I used to love a good pair of vans!!
Love this video and these boots! What type of socks are you wearing? Do a video on socks please.
I really gotta up my game on socks. I have a few good pair but mostly run common brands at this point. Thanks for future content ideas!! Appreciate you watching
I wear these with shorts all the time, most comfortable work boot.
I feel the best when I’m wearing shorts with them! 🥾🥾
Nice to see you wear these boots out in the wild, this puts ur review over the top of some of the others 👍 Oh, & ya,... good boot but I'm not crazy about the creepy black widow spider logo either.
Thanks a ton for watching! Was wearing my Iron Rangers today but already have the Redbacks set out for tomorrow!! Cheers. 🥾🥾
Hey Jew… do you believe in Jesus Christ as your savior?
Been buying them for 7 years. An going to buy another after 2 years wearing them in a bodyshop
That's really encouraging to hear, glad to know someone with that many years experience with redback! Cheers
I been interested in these boots for a while. The sizing worried me. There are no retailers near me to try them on. After watching your video, I decided to take a chance. Amazon sells them but doesn't explain size difference . Says 8.5 fits 8.5. Surprisingly, Ebay does a much better job at explaining proper sizing. Went ahead and ordered them with some trepidation because seller didn't honor returns. If the size was wrong, I was stuck. When they finally arrived, they fit perfectly. They are very comfortable and look great. Thanks for explaining the sizing. It was extremely helpful.
Man, that is super encouraging, Comments like this keep me going! Just wore my pair today.
Can you tell what ebay said about the proper sizing? I’m in the same situation you were in when it comes to understanding proper sizes. I’m a size 12 in vans shoes. Does this mean I would go down a size and choose the aus size equivalent?
@@gilbertduenas6031 well first i watched a video on youtube on sizing. It tells to you to drop a half size from your sneaker size. Then the Ebay site took it from there. Now i where an 8.5 normally . I ended up with a UK size 7. There's an Ebay site called Odds and Ends that pops up when you search the shoe. The site posts a size chart for help. When i got the shoes, they they fit length wise, but were a little bit roomy other wise. A Doctor Scholls insert fixed that. Nice and snug now. Litterly feels like sneaker. Great boot. I thought my Thorogoods were comfortable. These beat them. Good luck. Hope your experience is as good as mine.
@@andrewsuppa7468 sweet I’ll check out that chart thanks man
Great stuff
Thanks for stopping by the channel!
These sound like great boots. nice to see they're still made where they came from. i wonder how long that will last before the greedy corporate financiers come in and destroy them and take them to somewhere in asia for cheap labor!! i hope they keep them in australia.
Yeah, Blundstone moved production to Asia.
I was really happy to see the Great Barrier in video. Mainly because the V-cut is a big selling point. Another selling point was “Protec leather upper”
People mainly review the Easy Escape AKA Bobcat.
I’m in the market for these great barriers in order to swap between them and the Easy Escapes I own.
Always a solid plan to have a few pair to swap between and let the others rest. Sounds like a lot of money but when you factor how many pairs of boots we end up owing over the years it really makes sense! 🥾🥾
True, it is a decent wad of cash. But you’re right, I flew through several pairs of more inexpensive boots before settling on my ONE pair of red backs.
For the price, they stylish and could be worn to the store, or a date at night. They’re more versatile than tie down boots.
Also, I think people really under estimate how good Redbacks help you feel. They save your posture, thighs, ankles, and even upper back. They are so bouncy and allow you to take bigger steps. The comfort helps me stay in a GREAT MOOD while at work even 8 hours in. Which translates to better sleep.
For 200 bucks I’ll take it
Redbacks are a must have here in Israel, many people including me wear them daily.
That's Awesome!! Glad to hear! Hope to go see Israel someday soon, I'll be sure to take my Redbacks!
Hopefully Redback will wake up and join the boycott
@@waluigiinsmashbros boycotting Israel is a dick move and a slap across the face of God and his Son Jesus Christ. God Bless Israel.
FYI: For those who live in North America, the names of these boots are different than in Australia:
(AUS) The Great Barrier = (US) Nevada
(AUS) Bonsall = (US) Bobcat Claret
(AUS) Easy Escape = (US) Bobcat Black
Ref. Redback Canada
Did you end up getting a pair?
@@GentlemansJourney unfortunately, no. the shape of the boots appeared different than in the pictures. i was expecting the boots to have a pretty sharp front but the actual boots are super round and bulbous, which really turned me off. i gave me a feeling of wearing clownshoes. not to mention, i got small ass feet for a guy and i wear size 7. the smaller the boots got, the rounder the boots got.
@@mosestheleader25 That's a very fair assessment, they are very bulbous in the front! I bogged mine like day one of using them, so I was never completely sure if I stretched them or if they were big in the front from the manufacture.
Great video! Just got a pair. Im regularly a size 10. Did a whole size down so a us 9. They fit good except a bit snug on the sides. You think a boot stretcher would help? I cant return them as i used them for work already. I figure i may just need time to break them in.
Maybe put some oil on the sides before wearing for a while, they may go just enough? I don’t have experience with a stretcher
NZ made leather from tasman tannery. Love my redbacks.
How good is that, a great combo! Thanks for watching.
Haha I hate spiders too but I might make an exception for these!
At the price point it is well worth the risk. You do get to step on the spider every time you walk :)
nice boots, thanks for your review. One question: in Red Wings Iron Rangers my size is 10.5d US. What size should i buy for this boots?
I'd go the exact same size. These remain my go-to run and gun boots.
Just bought mine, delivered today, for £114!
Love it, Congrats!!
Super comfortable boot only boot be wearing anymore
That’s great to hear, wearing mine daily right now! Cheers
Redback is way better than Blundstone Don’t get me wrong I have 3 Blundstone & love it. But Redback ( from Sydney Australia) -is well made to last for years & way comfy. 👍❤️🇨🇦
Nice to hear that you have the experience with the comparison and still came up with Redback. I am trying out some Rossi Boots now and will be doing a video on those soon. Cheers Florencio!!
Great video what was the talk about spiders? Look like really good boots!
Just that the brand is based on a spider. ;) They seem to be awesome boots thus far!!
Nice boot bro 👍
Really loving it, thanks for watching.
How long does it take water to penetrate the elastic webbing? This is the main thing bugging me about these, don't plan to stand in a stream with them, but want them to handle the occasional mud and puddle splash.
It’s funny you ask because right after I did that I’m boxing portion I ended up getting these completely bogged in mud because I got my truck stuck in mud. I can’t remember too much about that situation But I don’t recall much mud or water getting through the elastic webbing. I think they’ll handle the occasional mud and splash very well. 🥾🥾
Superb video ,,if you compare them with UBOK ,, what is a difference??
and 2 question , if I have a choice between blundstone and those boots which should I take ??!
Many thx 🙏🏽
The UBOK looks the exact same besides the cut of the upper. I haven’t seen them in person though. Definitely the Redback boot, see my blundstone boot video here:
ua-cam.com/video/J1XzfnT3rGY/v-deo.html
I did the same thing ....I got blundstones and returned them for redbacks
Wow, crazy. Sure glad I went this route. Cheers man.
@@GentlemansJourney I’m also being converted (blundstone for dress!) if only it were easier to get ahold of all these boots rn for fitting. If anyone else is having that issue I’ve surmised that my size is the same in both Blundestone & Redback (not sure if the steel toe will shift that), both are a half size down than regular measurement expectations- but Blundestone dress series requires sizing another 1/2 size down or inserts bc the toe box is longer & it’s trickier to fit but way more versatile than the other styles (which if you’re going for round toe seems u should go Redback)
@@obscuriosities I'm finding the toe box a bit big on mine. Sadly, I bogged mine in the mud a few days after wearing them regularly. (Truck got stuck) and now I will always wonder if mine were a bit too big or if the mud jacked them up. I'd be interested to see what you come up with in the future. Thanks for watching the video!
I want these so bad for my warehouse work
They would be fantastic for that!! 🥾🥾 blessings and thanks for watching
I wear my easy escapes with shorts all the time
Heck yeah!
Redback boots are sized the same as Blundstone - half sizes are only wider and not longer - a 10.5 is essentially a 10 wide, for example.
Yeah I may have needed a 1/2 size down. Thanks for watching!
How tight was the instep? I just got my first pair of great barriers. I’ve always worn the easy escapes, but wanted a more waterproof boot so went with the great barriers this time. I’m the same size as you a 12 in tennis shoes and went with a 10.5 in the boots. The instep is so tight though I have to change my shoes on my lunch break because they hurt so bad. Is this normal? Thanks
Are you saying 10.5 Australian as in 11.5 US? My instep is not that tight.
Is the cushion feel on feet similar to Adidas Boost? How would you compare the cushion? Is it soft as heck?
Haven't had an Adidas boot and therefore have nothing to compare. However, they have a lot of cushion while remaining very sturdy. Hope that helps. Cheers!
If you have broad feet you need the half. Do you order the same size in Redback and Blundstones?
I don't have the Blundstones. Appreciate you watching the channel!
Can anyone speak to the difference between the Great Barrier and the Bonsall? I want to get a pair of The Great Barrier but they are currently back ordered until April. Is it worth the wait, or should I consider the Bonsall now.
Hopefully someone on here can, not familiar with the Bonsall!
What colour are redback boots at 8.16 mins into video? They look lighter? Thanks
That's a great eye. I was filming outdoors during golden hour so they seem different but they are the same boot. Thanks so much for watching this video. We put a ton of effort in them and glad to know that you got something out of it. Cheers
On my second pair but I have no luck when I cut off rusty bolts off an exhaust I always step on the hot bolt and it melts into the soles lol
I hear ya there mate, got mine too close to the fire pit… 🥾🥾
Good afternoon all the Way from South Africa , ive had bluntstones 550 for 10 years and loved them , i did some research and people said the redbacks are the go to boots . I have just got pair of Nevade puma Redbacks , my normal shoe size is a 9 and according to redback for Aus size you have to go down one size , i recieved my pair and the killed my ankles , is the a break inn period when it comes to redbacks or any other advice would be appreciated.
Kind regards

My only thought is yours are either too small or maybe the elastic band is just too tight for you. Possibly try a different model of redbacks
@@GentlemansJourney the elastic is not tight at all they only thing that is hurting my is inside the boot just abovey ankle it has made a huge blister aswell
@@GentlemansJourney above my ankle lets say more on the left side
Australia sizing half size does not make the boot shorter it makes it wider. So if you are a 9 on Brannock and EE wide you would order 9 1/2.

@@GentlemansJourney thank you so much!
If it helps anyone....I wear a 12 (US) in everything, so I ordered a size 12 (US) Redback Great Barrier steel toe. Beautiful boot, but it was quite a loose fit. Turns out my coworker went though this (because Redback has so few US stores) and had a pair of 10.5 (US) AND! 11.0 (US) that didn't fit him (he ended up with a 12 US). I tried on his 10.5s and 11.0s and while they both fit quite well, the 10.5 US really felt good even though I normally wear a 12 US in everything (including Red Wing). So, Im down a size and a half for a good fit in Redback. I hope this may be helpful to someone. Thanks.
Very interesting! Should help others in their decision making 🥾🥾
What are those moccasin shoes you are wearing at 7:47? They look awesome.
Love those, they are actually Walmart special but I keep going back to them. I’ll be looking into some good quality moccasins in the future so stay tuned for that video! 🥾🥾
@@GentlemansJourney Any chance you still know what brand/model they are?
@@Andrew_Dominik Funny you should ask, I am wearing them now!! Clarks. The outsole is pretty legit on these.

Those are Levis, can't remember the color but I really like those one!! I still gotta up my game and check out what some of these guys are wearing in pants but for department store, i think i did pretty good! Cheers Mate!
Why do you not recommend mink oil other than having it look darker?
Grab some mink oil from Saphir. Most other guys cut the mink oil with other products that tend to clog the pores of the leather and it will not condition deeply. I’ll be going through a ton of conditioners and dedicating a video to each product! Thanks for watching! 🥾🥾
We wear our boots with shorts in New Mexico.
Heck yeah, it's a daily thing for me these days. Feels great! Thanks for watching.
Not sure to get these or their cheaper option called the Fallbrook. I wonder if the difference is really worth almost double the price for the great barrier boots. Unfortunately I have yet to seen anyone showcase or review the Fallbrook.
Great questions, Sadly I have no familiarity with the Fallbrook either. Thanks for watching the video and I am loving mine if that helps at all.
The fallbrook labeled under blue tongue branding. It is a different constructed boot and in my experience they are not the same quality. I would recommend saving up the difference. The redbacks will easily last years if you take care of the leather.
Hey so I have the station boot(for work) which is the black version of the fall brook, it’s a solid boot so far but the insoles didn’t last too long. After 6 months the insoles died(chunks of the heel cushion coming out), the leather is holding up decently, the soles are starting to wear down and is gettting close to wearing down to the foam on the edge of the heel. Not as comfortable as my thorogoods. I’ll have the try the higher tier models because it seems like from the sound of things that their significantly better, just wish they had comp toe instead of steel.

That boot is £114 in England from Aussieboots Monmouthahire UK. You guys are paying too much!
Ship some stuff over to me mate!
Are those extra wide
Regular width
Redback boots are rubbish. I had a new pair that totally failed after three days use in the bush. The heel and sole came apart, leaving me stranded...that heavens for fabric tape. In my experience you cannot trust these boots to be reliable.
Sorry to hear that, thanks for the heads up. I have not had that experience, but good to know.
You are so outnumbered. Primarily a work boot and not for the bush, you did it!
