The interviewer did a great job. Letting the host speak out without interrupting him. Being invisible when needed and asking question by giving own life experiences. That's great journalism.
This was the crossover we didn't expect, but that we needed 😭 I have been watching Joey's videos since 2014 and I am so glad you guys interviewed him as your channel is so great and the work you do is amazing 💜
I wish more people watched Joey doing stuff like this instead of just his anime stuff. Because I love seeing him do other stuff and I'm sure he does too. So let's support our boy. Love you Joey!
About the being biracial topic. I've concluded that at the end it comes to the person, facial features and circumstances. How we end up perceiving ourselves and if we do or do not have an identity crisis. I'm mixed ecuadorian chinese and most people can acknowledge I'm mixed but still see me as not ecuadorian. So growing up I've been othered so to speak on that sense. Funnily and sadly I can't even speak a word of Chinese. And when I've travelled to china they see me as a full foreigner just by my looks so the circumstances just put me in an awkward position 😂.
Similarly I browsed the kanji and even the Chinese dictionary in third grade out of curiosity, but I was more interesting in learning sign language. It felt more immediate compared to learning about Chinese and Japanese. I sort of still recall some characters due to that early experience but I didn't fully get the grasp of them compared to practicing sign language.
I really dont mind that Joey is expanding besides just anime, I like it that he shows other aspects on japanese culture, I am still intrested in what joey does ☺️☺️
A man this is going to be a great episode I hope they start doing interview with a lot of Japanese influencers who knows we can get Connor and Garnt and akidearest on here too!!
There's something so funny about Joey saying Japanese is a second language, when it's out there he speaks Japanese better than people who have lived in Japan all their lives
Nice interview. Thank you AB! Of course, many people interested in Asia, particularly in Japan, watch on youtube for example Anime man and many other youtubers based on their specific interests and hobbies. I find interesting - kind of different approach of AB in recent videos you uploaded. It seems like you are looking for a maybe a new way and research how other youtubers create content, attract audience, and their future projects. On other side, I like that you focus on interesting people representing Asia culture in a way. I hope AB can also get some inspirations, I wish you good luck! My advice - just stay unique and do things your way though I probably guess youtube is highly influenced by american audience and their preferencies.
At ~41:35, it genuinely shocked me when Joey is basically saying that the reason foreigners love Japan is because of hentai. Like… what? I’m not saying that’s not the reason why some people do, but to use it as the main example definitely jarred me. Hentai is definitely not my reason for my long-time infatuation with Japan lmao
Very interesting to see Joey talk about political & social issues, I wish Trash Taste went into that on some occassions, they should invite people like Nobita & Yuta, I think they could make a real difference. Japan has a lot of issues.
Global citizen. That's a great way to put it for people who grew up with a bunch of international cultures, third culture kids if you will. You don't fit cleanly into one culture but you're the best of all of em.
I grew up in Sydney but live in Toronto. Some people think I'm mixed not really sure why but I really appreciate the perspectives in this interview it's really inspiring. Perhaps we should all be embracing our cultures and our inner anime man ;)
Joey laying on the floor reading the Kanji dictionary was me reading encyclopaedias as a 9yo cause that wast the only readingmaterial I had at the time. I didn't understand everything but it helped me learn Dutch and gave me an interest in the world.
Mmm..this is interesting that he says that Amine wasn't popular when he was growing up I guess it's a country thing... BECAUSE... I'm a 49 yr old American lady and I grew up on anime..raised my 3 sons on anime. There's a whole anime culture over here that's been thriving...(most of my friends are anime fans) so this is sooooo surprising to me
53:21 you can take a break whenever you want. but you might want to take into consideration what you might be missing out on while you're gone. nobody is forcing you to upload daily, have four channels, a podcast and merch. those are ways to MAXIMIZE your profits, but they're optional. being a slightly less successful youtuber doesn't mean you aren't a youtuber. rhetoric like this is what makes online content creators sound entitled and spoiled.
true, but when having clout and creating content becomes your livelihood sometimes you just can’t take a break, especially if your standard of living has increased along with the income
The US is the most individualistic country in the world but has way more mass murderers than Japan even on a per capita basis, so I don't think Japan being less individualistic is the main reason why mass murders happen a lot in Japan.
The only times I was ever discriminated against because I am a hafu nihonjin were during elementary and high school because one of my high school teachers was a very racist black guy. The other teacher was a bigoted Hindu woman.
He might call himself an idiot, but he's a good no bs lad. Unless said bs is intended Did he mention the name of his second channel actually? (it's: Joey)
Thanks for having me on and for letting me ramble like an idiot lol
Go Joey!!!
Love you Joey
Yo
Glad to see you taking part in different things!
Yo joey.
So great for Josh the Manga Lad to do this interview
Was looking for this comment

Connor on The Yard, Garnt on the OffineTV Podcast, and now Joey on Asian Boss. Trash Taste fans eating good these few weeks.
I wish more people watched Joey doing stuff like this instead of just his anime stuff. Because I love seeing him do other stuff and I'm sure he does too. So let's support our boy. Love you Joey!
you know he dosent do anime stuff anymore right
@@gluurb7921 Yes I know, but like I said not many people watch that stuff compared to his other content. So I was saying we should support him more.
@@sethtolar3793
He's a Pervert bru he ruin the Anime Fandom.
Bruhh, that's gotta be the fastest eye-to-hand response i've ever have! No way I did not click this
Joey evolving from The Anime Man into The Entertainment Man. Introducing us with his many talents like Thanos collecting infinity stones

I love how there is an understanding between the two of them because of their similar background. Interesting to watch as a German myself too lmao

Such a great interview . I followed joeys gf first way back in the day so it’s been so interesting watching both of them going on this life journey
I really dont mind that Joey is expanding besides just anime, I like it that he shows other aspects on japanese culture, I am still intrested in what joey does ☺️☺️
I'm not surprised he's on here tbh, Him and the other lads have been on a high in terms of being recognized more.
A man this is going to be a great episode I hope they start doing interview with a lot of Japanese influencers who knows we can get Connor and Garnt and akidearest on here too!!
This has been needed
Thank you,😁
There's something so funny about Joey saying Japanese is a second language, when it's out there he speaks Japanese better than people who have lived in Japan all their lives
Joey is a great guy I've been following his content for a few years nice interview
Damn. It’s Joey’s turn for the interview. Nice.
Fastest 1 minute of my life is seeing anime man in asian boss
That's what she said ! 🤣
Great interview. I don't know why UA-cam didn't recommend me this earlier
The person who is reading this comment , I wish you great success , health, love and happiness !
That hafu talk hits home. Half Korean half white and the problem to me as far as the identity crisis is that I couldnt ever really choose.
as a huge fan of both anime and Joey, Japan as a whole; I really appreciated this interview! 🥰
Nice interview. Thank you AB!

Thankyou for all those weird recommendations anime man
Man would have been good to know Joey back in highschool. Same age in Australia and man it was rough enjoying anime back then

That's probably one of Japanese stereotypes against foreigners who like Japan so much.
oh hey its Josh the manga lad. Jokes aside this was a surprise.
Seeing Josh the Manga Lad on this channel is something of a surprise
Very interesting to see Joey talk about political & social issues, I wish Trash Taste went into that on some occassions, they should invite people like Nobita & Yuta, I think they could make a real difference. Japan has a lot of issues.
I don't think Japanese ppl would appreciate 2 n 1/2 white guys criticizing their country
Japan bad, Western imperialism rules! Western culture is faultless and our way is how it should be! Yada yada
yes, i wanna see them on the podcast too
wow never expected to see joey here. how cool!
Global citizen. That's a great way to put it for people who grew up with a bunch of international cultures, third culture kids if you will. You don't fit cleanly into one culture but you're the best of all of em.
Except nobody accepts you as their own lol. Which is why being mixed is wack 99% of the time.
I grew up in Sydney but live in Toronto. Some people think I'm mixed not really sure why but I really appreciate the perspectives in this interview it's really inspiring. Perhaps we should all be embracing our cultures and our inner anime man ;)
This was very insightful with nice advice for youngsters as well.
Joey laying on the floor reading the Kanji dictionary was me reading encyclopaedias as a 9yo cause that wast the only readingmaterial I had at the time. I didn't understand everything but it helped me learn Dutch and gave me an interest in the world.
LET'S GO
JOSH THE MANGA LAD AKA JOEY THE ANIMATION MAN!
Mmm..this is interesting that he says that Amine wasn't popular when he was growing up I guess it's a country thing... BECAUSE... I'm a 49 yr old American lady and I grew up on anime..raised my 3 sons on anime. There's a whole anime culture over here that's been thriving...(most of my friends are anime fans) so this is sooooo surprising to me
I thought I had seen this video before then I realised it was Chris. I watch this bunch's videos so much now, they became one person 😆
BRO I JUST REALISED JOEY IS WHAT YOU CALL A BABY KANGAROO
12:00 eyy, shoutout to Anime Planet. That is my chosen alternative to MAL. Its been around for real long

Woah was not expecting this!
Both your accents came out stronger when talking to each other! How funny!
I didn't expect anime man to be in asian boss
Joey is still culturally anime, he just doesn't practice the way that he used to
this man is the most indian looking hafu i have seen in onine sphere.
Of course the time I get into TT via their shorts Asian Boss interviews and I just get one more collab medium. Nice
:O never thought Joey would be on here
Joey, thank you for a lot of stuff you said.
just a small correction in joey's intro....

finallly! josh the manga lad is here~!
Excellent interview with Joey!
+9:52 When it was him and his friend's "coming out" story of liking anime🤣
The US is the most individualistic country in the world but has way more mass murderers than Japan even on a per capita basis, so I don't think Japan being less individualistic is the main reason why mass murders happen a lot in Japan.
Please interview Alexi aka Noriyaro! Australian auto journalist living in Japan :D
Great vid!
If you want to listen to this episode with audio only, it's on Spotify
Wasn’t expecting this.
Hey, it's the anime guy
Joey needs to change his name to The Collab Man
Oh that's the Manga Lad
It's so cool that Asian Boss have interviewed Karen the Light Novel Guy.

The only times I was ever discriminated against because I am a hafu nihonjin were during elementary and high school because one of my high school teachers was a very racist black guy. The other teacher was a bigoted Hindu woman.

He might call himself an idiot, but he's a good no bs lad. Unless said bs is intended
Did he mention the name of his second channel actually? (it's: Joey)
