J. None who left the group summer of 2021 and signed up for five years in the Navy. He is currently the New Frontman for Navy Band Northwest! Yes!! Say hello to VIOLAYNE!
Eli (bald guy), Geoff (bass) and Layne(beatboxer) have been performing together for many years, and are the backbone of the group. Cesar (latino with the big hair) is their newest baritone and member. J.None (the black guy) was the baritone before Cesar and still comes back to sing with them from time to time, he is currently in the Navy on a 5 year contract. VoicePlay is currently a member short after their high tenor decided to leave the group, so they are using guest performers to fill in for the 5th spot until they can find a new permanent member.
James actually said in an interview that this is a love song he wrote and almost didn't present it to the rest of the band. He did and they other guys loved it and the rest is history as they say.
A lot us VoicePlayers are kind of rooting to have J None back after his stint with the US Navy has ended. He's coming up on the half way point. The combination of those voices you heard there are so very good together. All of the people that VP have featured like in Dream On, the four members and Omar Cardona (who was on The Voice during the fall). All of them that are featured are really gifted and would make a great fifth member but J None when he left for the service, said he'd be back. After boot camp, he came back and took the lead in Friends on the Other Side. This one they had scheduled for Sept or Oct but J None's leave was interrupted and they waited until he could make it back. They are like a big family with Layne (beatboxer) torturing J with the carrot as the Carrot King. You know - brothers. If they are using microphones you may sometimes see a carrot balanced on it. Check out In The Hall Of the Mountain King.
If you go back and watch some of their older videos you'll get to know J.None who was a member of the group for some years. He left in 2021 to sing with the US navy having been approached by them. He returns to sing with them when he's on leave. We hope that once his time with the navy is done that he will be a full time member again.
Thanks for the reaction! VoicePlay's current lineup is Geoff Castellucci, Eli Jacobson, Layne Stein and Cesar De La Rosa. Earl Elkins left the group some time ago for reasons that to my knowledge he hasn't chosen to share publicly. They fill the fifth position with various guest vocalists, including J.None (a former member currently serving in the military who often joins them when he's on leave,) Jose Rosario Jr., Rachel Potter, Ashley Diane, and Omar Cardona, among others.
Great reaction from both of you, thanks. Good discussion. They have several women that they work with as featured artists. Rachel Potter goes back at least to 2013 (Attention) and did most of the earlier Disney medleys with them. Also check out We Don't Talk About Bruno or Running Up That Hill for Ashley Diane - and there are others...
So did you know Rollen was such a cynic? LOL. The guy who was next to the bass (Geoff) is J.None, who is currently singing in the Navy. If you are at all interested, go check out his rendition of the National Anthem. I just love it-so very simple and pure. I see a couple others have introduced you to everybody so I won’t repeat. Anyway, great reaction. Sometimes you just don’t like a song. There are a couple covers by Voiceplay that I like less than others-the artistry is amazing, just don’t love the song. I do love this one-and I really wasn’t that wild about Metallica’s version (but then I’m not into Metallica). Anyway, I get it, Rollen. And you go, Angie!
great reaction! one of ya best yet!..loved the stories...this is very well done but i still prefer the S&M version... soz Rollen im with Ange on this one!..
“Last Resort Reimagined” by Falling In Reverse is a cover of Papa Roach’s “Last Resort. I was 17 when Papa Roach’s version came out & it reminds me of a very difficult time in my life. Falling In Reverse’s version really brought back memories while also making the song relatable to my 41yo life. I actually cried hearing the reimagined version.
Thank you both for a great reaction to Voice Play. Please do a reaction video of Voice Plays cover Dream On originally by Aerosmith. Voice play knocks this one out of the ball park. Another great one by Voice Play is Carry On Wayward Son ... Eleanor Rigby
The prequel to their Dream On video is Warriors, where Violayne (the beatboxer with the violin) makes his first appearance, along with J None also on violin.
The lyrics are abject drivel, but that's not VoicePlay's fault. They didn't pick the song for any inherent quality it might have; they picked it because it's popular and a lot of people like it.
If you would like to react to something you may not have heard before, I would recommend the following: the artist Aesthetic Perfection with the song Gods & Gold
Music is subjective. If the lyrics were about nothing else matters than money, that might not be so impressive. If the lyrics were about nothing else matters than my fantasy love story, then it makes some relate. We project our own lives onto the lyrics of music, so it fits with how we are feeling at the time. If someone doesn't like them, it doesn't resonate with them. It doesn't make it right or wrong. People are allowed not to like something you like and to think we are all going to like everything the same is some weird mind control program that has gotten into the minds of many. It is a lie.
Angie, you should have done this reaction solo. Your giddiness and appreciation of the song spoke volumes Your husband just looked so bored through the whole thing, which was annoying as hell. Some things are just not to be enjoyed together. He's like an aggravated dude who can't get it up in bed.
Haha! Rollen was annoyed because he hates the song, it had nothing to do with his p*e*n*i*s, thought I mentioned that. 😆 I think that only doing reactions where we "like" everything does a very big disservice to the community and creates an environment where people expect reactors to praise and approve of everything that comes their way. That isn't real life, nobody likes everything, and they are lying if they tell you they do.
That was a low blow, and a bit out of left field, but you made your point with an exclamation point! I personally agree with Angie's response, but hey, I get it. Some like to be spoon fed, more power to ya, to each their own😉👍🚌💨💨💨💨💨
Greetings from Germany! I agree with all the other statements, but...is it some kind of concept that you put the text over your faces??? Aren't reaction videos about seeing peoples reactions? Lots of sympathy for both of you, but please don't do this again 😀
wow wowww, didn't know rhe group,,, no background music ,just voices and had to make all arrangements 12 on 10 on that one , loved it very much

Thank you so much for all the great info!

Wow I didn't know that but, in my heart, I thought it was so! Thank you for the info!!!
VioLayne has only appeared one other time, in their cover of Warriors, by Imagine Dragons. You really, really need to react to that one. Really!

I'm hoping that's the reason they haven't found a full time fifth member. Because Omar Cardona sure fits in well with them and sounds great.

Loved this reaction. You know it is a great arrangement when someone who doesn't like the song is impressed. :)

It was really good for what it was. It started really slow for me, but they grabbed me mid way❤️🔥😉👍🚌💨💨💨💨

If you don't like the lyrics, you haven't actually read them.
