Hi, Hey and Hello! I do have to apologise for this video being so late compared to other simmers - I was on holidays when this kit dropped and I came back a week early to get this video out to you as soon as I could. I also want to share a couple of things and some more thoughts I had while editing this video too. FIRSTLY I spoke about wanting chunkier heels on the combat boots... One of my absolute favourite CC Creators Trillyke has already gone ahead and done that so I'll link them here if you also wanted chunkier heels: www.patreon.com/posts/goth-galore-mesh-96903908 On that same note Trillyke has also taken the straps on the jeans and seperated them to make cute little leg harnesses that you can download here: www.patreon.com/posts/goth-galore-97051117 Now another thing I had seen some simmers say in regards to the contents of this kit is that we already have a lot of the same items... The only items I can think of off the top of my head that we have SIMILAR to but not exactly the same is the leather jacket that I'm pretty sure came with City Living and I think there is a similar vest in the base game. The key point of that sentence I just typed is "SIMILAR" not exactly the same. I have specifically seen people yelling at The Sims team for re-using meshes in this kit from past releases and honestly I don't think that's the case at all. We definitely have SIMILAR items to a couple of the things we got in this kit but by no means are they exactly the same. Of course if there is evidence to prove otherwise let me know. I am also incredibly disappointed at having no hair options at all in this kit, how few accessories we got (not even a necklace similar to what I’m wearing in this video?), and how few makeup options we got. I really do wish this could have been a stuff pack at least rather than a kit so we could have had more options. And lastly I will just reiterate - I think the sims team definitely doomed this kit and set it up for failure firstly by not having an expert collaborate in this kit, and secondly by choosing a theme that honestly can’t be properly explored with so few items. I hope you enjoyed my very long, very detailed and very overdue review, Sarah xx
Great video. I've been goth since i was 16, all the way back in the 80s lol Not to age myself here. I was disappointed with the pack, however, there are so many different sub genres of goth, romantic, trad goth, victorian, for example. They couldn't possibly fit all the styles into one little pack so i can understand that. Overall i feel they did a decent job, it was just impossible to make everyone happy with this, like i said, so many styles. Edit: ALSO! Just wanted to say, you really explained yourself well in this video, very articulate and not just flat out hating on everything, you actually understand the different styles of goth fashion which i appreciate :) (I was very disappointed with the lack of new hair, HOW CAN YOU NOT ADD HAIR WITH THIS PACK!?)
Thank you so much for your comment! I agree that this was an impossible task (to please everyone lol) but I do think they did a decent job too. First thing I noticed was no hair! No new hair?! Honestly I would have swapped a couple of things we did get for some new goth hair 😓
Not a goth myself and may or may not get this kit but I really appreciated the amount of detail you went into and I was interested to hear your thoughts. Also love the idea of reviewing the kit by doing a goth family makeover that was really clever 🖤
Thank you for your review. I was avoiding them because there seemed to be a lot of negativity around this kit. I do agree that it's difficult to explore such a huge genre in a kit. That being said.... I loved everything. Even the tie-dye - it looks great on darker-skinned Sims. I wish there were more makeup options. 🖤🖤🖤
I agree with you. There always seems to be negativity around everything the sims team do and release and I never want to feed into that. I also loved everything (except that one swatch that I said I hate because I don’t like that at all lol) but I do love the tie dye too! I just thought the colouring was an interesting choice for gothic fashion that’s all. I definitely loved everything, I just wish there was more 😅
you put those first cargo pants on Mortimer Goth and my first thought was that anyone with thick thighs would hate wearing those. I can already imagine the mid-thigh belts getting caught on each other and rubbing together lol
I totally agree! I definitely feel like there’s a few things that were missed due to the size of kits. I wish it could have been a stuff pack instead 😔
people also say they should have made it and castle kit into game pack best people wants a royal pack like the royal family mod but a official ea game pack thats what they wanted.🖤🖤🖤
Yeah I definitely agree with this too! It’s all well and good being able to build castles but we don’t have any gameplay to match it. It would have made a lot more sense to do a medieval game pack at least.
pastel goth sometimes mixes black accents with pastels! I do agree there should’ve been more true pastel swatches tho 🤷♀️ as a fellow goth adjacent emo/punky/alt person I feel like this kit was made for us lol
Thank you for this comment! I think it would have been nice to see more pastel blue and purple swatches too. I like the term goth adjacent as well! Definitely made for us but I still feel sad that this kit wasn't up to par for so many. 🖤
FakeGamerGirl really explained it well why this kit fell so short for a lot of people and she also gave some good examples of the various types of goth. Goth really is a board terminology and I believe the devs really set themselves up for disaster when they decided to do a kit on such a wide subculture and only gave this handful of pieces, and no hairs to boot. I'm glad you found joy in this kit however 🙏❤
I’ve been meaning to check her video out on it, I just wanted to wait until I’d made mine first. Excited to educate myself more on the subcultures of goth too. 🖤

LOL yes it’d drive me crazy 😅 #ThickThighClub
the thing that upset most people including me is the fact there is no new gothic hairs.🖤🖤🖤

@@SezRawrrSims i saw kits that are bigger this looks like the smallest kit ever made.🖤🖤🖤

@@arthur_shadows5078 I'd rather see a medieval pack than a fairy pack personally.
Sims isn't really my cup of tea, but this is really cool.

@@SezRawrrSims yeah I agree with what you said about this needing to be a stuff pack too. more goth and more items please!

Honestly I’m not sure what more I can do to draw more people in, but I’m just happy anyone wants to watch ☺️
