Perfect diagnosis and video. I junked my 8 year old Panasonic just 1 year ago. The replacement failed the same way after just 18 months! I was ready to buy yet another but searched "Panasonic microwave repair" and found your excellent video. I found 1 micro switch was stuck in the closed position. Listening for the 3 clicks was the ticket, really clever diagnosis tid bit that I am sure comes from experience. Fixed in less than 30 minutes for zero $!!!
Thanks for the video, same problem here with a pansonic this one had 3 door switchs and it was only the plastic door mech that was worn and sticking so the switches wouldn't get pressed, a bit of lube and all good!!!
You are the man, my grandma was about to drop $150 she doesn't have on a microwave, so I tore hers apart and it was the exact same problem. Order the part on amazon and should be here Tuesday.
i dont mean to be off topic but does any of you know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I stupidly forgot the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
Hi northcal ....love ur videos..i found a nice newer frigidaire gallery stainless over range microwave 1.7 cu ft...would not power up at all...dead....took it apart and saw that there was a small circuit board that has the main fuse on it which was good but it alao has a large a large copper coil on it with 4legs...1 leg solder was defect....i resoldered and it works great now
I have a samsung, old and rusty inside, but I absolutely love it. Only two knobs, rotary encoders, one for power other for time. Simple display made of 7 segments, no magic there. I just found another reason to like it. If you open the door while in operation and close it, it takes a second to start over. That means that the switch doesn't take the full power on it, but the confuser triggers the relay.
Same microwave same problem with one difference. Upon opening the switch I found the spring wasn't in the right place. Pushed it out a little with a flat screwdriver. Now it works again. Mine wasn't burnt out or anything. I think over time the spring in the switch moved enough to stop the switch from working. Great video thank you.
Would have been straight to the point if the parts discovery would have been left at the end for those interested in that. My kenmore countertop microwave was built in 1998 and just got the same situation as yours with a possible upper (main) switch bad. All functions work except fan and heating.
I have microwave I followed instructions and my top switch was not clicking. I ordered new and no luck still, fan is not working but when I open door fan spins
Some are rated at a much lower current for switching logic level voltages. A high current switch sometimes is not good at 5 volts /5 ma. They need the voltage to micro weld the contacts. Some companies make specialty switched just for logic level use.
It had a bad table motor as well. I have replaced that and it's working great, but the touchpad is like a film with a ribbon cable. I could not find a replacement.
Standby power transformer I am guessing. That should be the only thing connected until the main power relay is energized. Without having it in front of me it is hard to tell though. Sorry

I just cannot unplug the connector from the switch for the life out of me; I've tried using tiny screw driver to push it out and nothing works, please help...
It is just an appliance 20-25 watt bulb located in the magnetron exhaust area. DM me on facebook, twitter or instagram and I can send you a part number.

Thanks for sharing. How did you fix it...? Unsure if you had an extra switch or just added wd40. TiA
You made it so easy, I am going to apply it to my broken unit. Thanks for the great tutorial.
Very clear and close up views - very helpful. Thanks.
THANKS!!!! THIS IS MY EXACT MICRO WITH THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM!!!! :-) Mike in LA, Calif, USA

Let me know how it goes!
Very nice, one day I’m sure I will need to know about this.

Very smart, H S.
Thanks NorCal!
You still doing tvs norcal? You seem to have changed jobs.

Hey! All you really needed was another contact and a new "spring-a-ma-thing"! :)
Exactly!
Only a few months ago I did a repair just like that but my normally blow the main fuse surprising
That's if the "monitor" switch is bad. It puts a direct short across the AC line as a last resort fail safe
Could u still have a bad switch even if it’s kicks
Yes, I've had them. Overheated switches cause the internals to be out of tolerance. Even when it clicks the plunger trigger point could be off.

I save those limit switches....they can come in handy....arent they all pretty much interchangeable? They are just limit switches

I have a Panasonic, that has a touchpad issue, the right row (#3, #6, #9), don't work. How that can be repaired?
most likely the membrane kaypad is failing. It is in a matrix configuration. What model is it?

Hi man, my microwave sometimes starts buzzing, even if not turned on, just plugged in, what could it be thats making all this noise ?
Standby power transformer I am guessing. That should be the only thing connected until the main power relay is energized. Without having it in front of me it is hard to tell though. Sorry
@@norcal715 Thx :)
Are those 3 switches the same switches? Thanks
My oven's 3 switches are the same NO, but some ovens also have NO and NC.
I replaced these and the fuse and still does the same thing when I open it, it spins and the light turns on but the magnetron does nothing still
Fan spins tho
Macbooks or Microwaves, whatever, all we need is fan spin :D
Fan Spin aka Louis Rossman. No apple products owned here. Friends dont lent friends buy apple! Thanks for you comment

Constant (moderate) pull and rotation (rocking it) from side to side should eventually release it.
‘Goodbye dongnan’ lol
The device is essentially a "Midea", thankfully it's not a "Galanz"!😊
isn't that a high current draw? most outlets only have a 15 amp breaker
most US kitchen outlets are (SABC) i think. Single appliance circuits with a 20 amp breaker.
Dongnan...
.
To bad a new switch cost nearly as much as the microwave.
The light is gone in the oven- how du i fix it. and what pulp?
