I was very confused, because she seemed interested in me in that way, but I didn’t see it in that way because I wasn’t sure, I wasn’t really getting the signs. She then told me she liked me, and I also had feelings for her. (We were freshmen in high school and then dated for a bit in sophomore year) The thing is, I was scared to tell my mom, and, I didn’t even know I was really gay until my friend asked if I liked her back. So, kept it a secret from my mom because I was stupid and scared , and I still feel guilty about it, and it made a mess. Basically. My mom found out and she forced me to end the relationship. She didn’t support me, and it probably didn’t help I kept it a secret. I feel very bad for the girl I was in a relationship with because we couldn’t be together because of my mom. The feelings I felt for her felt real, and I still really miss her. I’m a senior and I haven’t had a relationship since, and it makes me feel lonely and empty inside. It doesn’t help I feel isolated in my southern school because I’m a lesbian. Thankfully, When I came out to my dad, he supported me. That gives me hope

yuh know something very similar to this happened to chickn nuggit but in sorta the oppisite way, it started off as an episodic and goofy show to suddenly pulling a serious demigod lore arch outta nowhere. Another example I know of is Bittersweet Candybowl, started off as comic strips starring the characters doing silly antics, but as the years went on it became more serious, the personality of each character became more grounded in reality, and the sillyness factor was toned down overall. Edit: My other comment hidden by youtube so I'll just say what I said there: No, not really, one of the earlier comics turned things from 0 to 100 real fast, and the shift happened fast too, in just 40 or so comics the tone shifted completely.
I thought I was a hater for finding that arc lowkey corny LOL like I couldn't take that part of the story seriously at all and it really did feel like an attempt to build this giant fandom moment with lore and high stakes The show imo is at its best when its rando goofy humor with wacky scenarios to find out that it was chikn nuggit making all it happen felt like an explanation we didn't need and kinda took the fun out of things
Bro sometimes I’ll edit my speedpaints when I can’t get a certain line right cuz it do be embarrassing. But I just couldn’t bother here as I needed this speedpaint to be like 20 mins long so cutting anything wasn’t ideal. I’m glad it’s at least relatable for others 😂
My guess is that cat bird dog blew up and got them a lot of unexpected attention . And that they knew what the initial arc would be but they didn’t plan past that / for the fame and had to come up with more content. So they pivoted towards something more comedic or wacky.
I’m so glad someone is finally talking about this, I was so invested in the story until the wizard just popped up out of no where, I know he was an Easter egg, so it wasn’t really out of nowhere, but it just felt like it. I thought he would just appear in the background as a cute little side story or something, not a main character 😭
What I'm thinking and hoping is that this isn't a real plot line, that its a "dream" set up or meme plot that they wanted to do for their amusement. It genuinely just seems like the creators having fun and side questing an inside joke they had. I hope thats whats happening to the story right now TwT

I just read this entire comic and it was really nice before the weird wizard stuff lmao Would have been nice to have more development for Dog and Hyena. Maybe have a more grounded reason for having Dog and Bird get stuck together to help Cat in some way so they can all learn to get along or whatever and move on. The wizard thing feels like a fever dream after one of them passes out playing that in-world video game 😂
UGHH you have no idea how validating this video made me feel! I also felt stupid for feeling so strongly about the story shift and direction it was going. I loved this comic! I loved getting to see the pages be posted, the conversations between characters, and I loved that it explored LGBTQ+ topics in a unique way where one of the protagonists didnt reciprocate those feelings and then we get to see how a queer person deals with something like that! It was so heartfelt, so real. I felt like the newest comic pages where they just throw that out the window and are focusing on a totally different shift in story was. Jarring? not a fan of it personally. Yeah the comic had it silly sorta random moments, but there wasnt anything leading up into what was a complete tonal shift from the down to earth and grounded in some reality it was before. I dont want to seem like im trashing on the newest pages, i still love the art, but this new direction is not it for me unfortunately :(
I totally agree dude. I know its their story and they're allowed to do what they want with it, but this shift just felt so weird and out of nowhere, completely changing the course of the story to something totally unrelated. I was so invested and this felt like a slap in the face followed by a huge middle finger, like it wanted to drive the viewers away. The worst thing is that people in the Instagram comments (platform where I read the series) will treat you like a total hater if you complain about the direction the comic went, saying "you hate fun" and stuff. No, I don't hate fun, I hate unrelated genre shiftes that occur after the world, characters and relationships have already been established, especially if it's into the opposite genre (realism to fantasy) edit: minor spelling mistakes 😭
@AlextheOcto Of course, they did show the wizard a couple times, but it's the fact that it's so surreal compared to how the story had worked that it just seemed like an Easter egg; you wouldn't expect this kind of thing from a realistic story, that's what icks a lot of viewers; the sudden change in GENRE. The story was already amazing and portrayed realistic problems with realistic outcomes, which is what invested a lot of people, only to throw it aside for a weird fantasy plot? If they had wanted that, they would've searched for it. I went off topic kind of, but as for the foreshadowing, you're right actually, this was foreshadowed, I admit my mistake, but the change of plot/genre after establishing a realistic world and characters is totally weird.

i agree that it's a hard tone shift. i was invested in the plotline of cat and birds having time for themselves before being ok again, but i'm honestly confused to either like or dislike the story direction lol. for now i think it's funny, and i don't have a massive problem with it, but with so many people having different opinions and even going after each other on insta (the place i read the comic), i don't really know how to feel. i believe that after that plotline things will "go back to normal" and we will see more of more grounded character development, as you put it

Yep, that’s the entire reason why I dropped the Webtoon “I think I like you”, it started off as a gay furry slice of life rooted in a realistic setting, then randomly put in magic, demon OCs, and making one of the MCs a ‘hellhound’ in the middle of the story. Threw me off.
As much as I understand the annoyance at "filler", I think we've lost the art and just timing for episodes to be little side stories about characters experiencing things where we can learn little things about them or have a break from super serious plots. Alot of shows and writing just rushing into big plot after big plot is just exhausting imo and wish there was more little breaks inbetween. One Piece is debatable though bc I have zero idea what Oda is cooking and its like every week he's making up more OCs for his world and giving them whole arcs which is cool but damn is that alot.
So, I totally understand the frustration with the fantasy plotline out of nowhere, as someone who isn't a regular reader I was very confused seeing the posts with the wizard, but I will use this as an opportunity to talk about my favorite webcomic Spicy Mints. From what you said in the video I think you'd enjoy it, it's a slice of life about college students and dealing with love, sexuality, friendships, although it does deal with heavier subjects such as s.a, alchoholism, familial pressure, and more. I think its a very sweet story, with great plotlines and really compelling and relatable characters that's worth giving a read, hope you like it :]
i think that it's too early to tell if the comic will actually be awful because of this turn. maybe this turns out to be a really fun fantasy series with all the hoped for character conflict that hooked us from the start. but man im bummed we didnt get a nice, concise character drama
That's kinda how I feel, it's a little too quick to say this was one of the worst changes to the story...when we haven't even seen the full story. You can argue it's a shift a tone, sure but Idunno, give it some faith. I didn't expect this comic to be 100% realistic as soon as Cat and Bird went "people watching".
I don’t think it was that terrible, it could’ve been a great fun story but maybe the author took too long to present the wizard thing. People were supposed to get the idea of the story in probably less than 40 episodes idk, that’s why the people that enjoyed it were still reading for that long

I have to say, im not pissed off or, like to the point of tears about the random 180 in this comic, but I am really bewildered. I’m just wildly confused and despite the fact that I’m not itching for the next updates on the story now that it’s… um… this… the comic is still relatively fresh and new, so I’m guessing that the creators expect patience from their fan base at this point in the story? I can see why some people are quitting because nobody became a fan of this story for a fantasy aspect of it. The people who are fans liked the down to earth feeling and the relateable dynamics. But like… I’m just thinking SURELY this weird fantasy bit.. uhhh, means something in the end? I’m hoping so. Honestly, I can’t pretend like I don’t want to know why the creators did this. They know that their story was relatable and the fans liked that. That the fans liked how simple but real it was. Right? You know it isn't the first time stuff like this has happend and I don't think stuff like this will ever stop happing but on things for sure they're always be fans scrambling together to make they're own episodes to fill in the void the recent arc has brought
tbh i don't think dog is a good character, and i don't think his character as it stands is worthy of being part of the title (especially bc hyena isn't). this isn't because he's a bad person, because he isn't. he's very pleasant, in fact. the problem is that he's written as a plot device, and also, as an immediate bird replacement for cat, as opposed to a new contrasting friendship; mostly the pacing of their friendship is far too fast, and dog really only acts as bird 2.0, except when he's moving the plot along (ex: telling cat that bird was probably uncomfortable about the kiss. personal preference, but i would've liked for cat to put at least some pieces together on her own, as this route makes cat read as oblivious and somewhat ignorant of other's feelings). dog's writing especially stands out when compared to bird and cat's, because while they read as people with depth, he does not. in fact, i'd go so far as to say that hyena reads as more of a person than dog does
@@az_is_tired honestly as much as I like dog as a silly sweet guy, your right. He doesn’t have nearly as much depth as the other two characters in the title of the comic. And I do feel bad that hyena is left out of the title as she definitely has more depth than dog. It is weird since in their Instagram posts and merch they include hyena almost as if she is one of the gang. But she’s not in the title so it’s just strange, like maybe her character was an after thought.
Tbh I think it’s too early to decide it’ll end up terrible.. I think if anything it took too long to get to this new plot. I think maybe if the scenes were in a different sequence to where we don’t get too used to the slice-of-life genre before switching to fantasy, maybe it would be better.
I wish they made it into like a spin-off or something? Like maybe the wizard is from a game they are playing or something? It just doesn't make any sense to have a story portrayed as a realistic struggle that people can relate to, to then turn it into some weird crossover/ fantasy story?

Honestly I am very disappointed. I just have no clue why they would throw this random isekai fantasy stuff on us. I thought this was supposed to be a slice of life comic. What happened? It's too sudden in my opinion. Yes, there were parts of the comic foreshadowing the arrival of the wizard, but it wasn't obvious enough. It seemed more like just a joke, and not anything to do with the main storyline. I just wish the creators made it clear from the beginning that it wouldn't just be a regular slice of life comic. I know why it going to be different directions in their path of the story with "action comic" as interests, it's more like "The Creator" change it up "what if wizard frog randomly came down when kidnapped her in the tower and then those two trying to save cat" just like going out in the dog & bird adventure, it not much at all times so plot twist ones again!
In the kiss episode I don't completely hate Cat, mostly because she was DRUNK. Now I still don't agree with what she did but people do things unlike themselves when drunk because this happened to me too (though nothing serious I have acted not like myself when drunk) and are not under clear mindset sorry i don't even know what im talking about. personally i disagree, i think this is an interesting and cool way to develop their relationship, by having them all overcome an obstacle like trying to get out of an isekai. As a writer, while this is a weird tonal shift, sometimes its easier and can make the story more fresh to switch it up, put the characters against an odd challenge. I don't understand why people are so annoyed about it, if you don't like it stop reading it.
To be honest, most people get annoyed when a story doesn't go the way they want it. When Dog was introduced, people hated him because people shipped Cat and Bird heavily and thought he was getting in the way of that. Eggbug definitely gets way too much hate for writing a story the way THEY want to. I don't mind the change in setting since it was set up through the news reports in the background of certain panels. It was foreshadowed they'd probably get kidnapped too. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ppl don't like that it didn't stay "serious", but literally the isekai could be a visual metaphor for Bird to navigate her emotions through game/fantasy. Escapism through games IS common, the wizard could represent what happens when you over indulge in escaping. (*Cough* amphibia *cough*) Ppl thought the third season of the show was weaker because we ended up in the human world with filler episodes. When it wasn't, it was a nice change of scenery and Anne catches up with her parents (obviously different), she's matured or at least gained more sense of responsibility over the Planters. Im rambling, but I was excited to see the wizard with the many hints they kept dropping. ( I secretly thought Hyena might've been the wizard). Anywho, series and shows tend to switch up their setting once they've grounded their characters. Dog is a jokester, Bird is scared, sensitive to a degree and cautious. This takes them out of their element.
It wouldn't have been such a bad thing if they made the readers know that there was some fantasy stuff happening from the beginning. Or instead of a boring, random *human* wizard we had a character than we knew *from the beginning* that he had powers. Also the motivation of that wizard for doing what he's doing it's so boring, like i have seen better antagonists in literally any kids show, with better reasons. If the creator of the web comic wants to isekai'd the characters, it's too late for that because he should have done it fRom ThE BegInniNg. As someone who loves the *isekai slop* genre, i'm so mad rn. Like imagine if they catched you with a realistic plot that you can identify with and then all of a sudden after idk 25 chapters all the characters get isekai'd and the whole first plot doesn't matter anymore. 💀🙏

I don't know if I'd be so quick to hate on the plot shift. It's been like ten pages, so I think it's too early to judge. Besides, fantasy stories still rely on character relatablility, which shouldn't change with the setting. A lot of stories go back and forth between fantasy and slice of life dynamics, so I could see them doing something like that. The lore of the fantasy world doesn't seem too deep, so I could see it being temporary, or just a backdrop for a fundamentally down to earth story.
I read the whole thing right after watching this video and yeah..I hate the way the wizard was just thrown into the story. i loved watching all the characters interact but the wizard thing just felt so.. weird? i was so exciting watching the characters interact especially in the scene where they all meet cause that's when tensions were high, but i feel like the whole wizard thing just made no sense and ruined the story for me.

Just a thought, but it could also just be that the author is takin a lil break from the main plot to have some fun before getting back into it. Also the wizard just wanting to infodump is fun in a similarly grounded way to the rest of the comic. I doubt the fantasy plotline is going to overtake everything. Sometimes you have to shake things up when youre feeling stuck while making a comic in order to continue, cuz getting stressed out cuz you dont know what youre doing next and your deadlines are looming closer and closer just makes you resent making it

I'm generally for people telling the stories they wanna tell, but they've gotta be prepared for backlash. I hope Eggbug studio knows what they're getting into. I wasn't gobsmacked by the twist. I remember just thinking "huh." Not questioning or curious, just kinda nonplussed. And that might not have anything to do with the comic itself, so much as just what I'm looking for to read. The tricky thing about pulling a genre or thematic twist on your audience (and this only matters is your really WANT to build an audience) is that they might drop the story whether it's good or not cuz they're just not interested in that genre right now. I like isekai and fantasy adventure stories just fine, but I've read or am reading ENOUGH of them, and got hooked on catbirddog cuz a cute and grounded slice of life is what I was looking for. I've pretty much lost interest entirely, and I don't feel like I'm able to fairly judge whether it's doing the new plotline well or not
My hope is that the wizard plotline shift going on right now is a set-up for a plush line of the characters because of the wizard's ability to plushify people, and once the line is revealed we'll get back to the original grounded story. But that's just speculation 🤷♂ Also ! I highly recommend DOGHAUS comic if you haven't read it because it has a similar grounded vibe. It still has silly plotlines, but they match the tone a lot better imo.

It might just be me, but i kinda like big whiplash moments, i mean as long as the charcters don't suddenly change. Like problem A being a big driving force in the first half, then out of nowhere problem B arrives, not deminishing problem A but adding onto it, like things dont sunddenly change even if your world is turnd inside out, but it might change a perspective. I deffenatly think this sort of thing can be done wrong, but sudden Fantacy in a grounded world can work imo. But i don't think its for everyone either. I haven't read this comic to know if they are pulling this whiplash off well or not. But its not the worst idea for a story imo.
I can see this working if it's for a time travel plot like if Cat regretted something she did/regretted the current outcome. Then here's more meaningful dialogue/what ifs/ AU speak. Like what if the wizard is really cat from an AU and he became aware of this Cat's timeline and he needed to also stop it for some reason? Sigh. Lost potential.

It was my favorite comic since I discovered episode 3. I'm also really disappointed with the whole fantasy stuff. It just felt so random and out of nowhere! yuh know something very similar to this happened to chickn nuggit but in sorta the oppisite way, it started off as an episodic and goofy show to suddenly pulling a serious demigod lore arch outta nowhere. It felt so random and as if the team was just doing this randomly for more views bc they had no idea to do with the show.

Another example I know of is Bittersweet Candybowl, started off as comic strips starring the characters doing silly antics, but as the years went on it became more serious, the personality of each character became more grounded in reality, and the sillyness factor was toned down overall.

My guess is that cat bird dog blew up and got them a lot of unexpected attention . And that they knew what the initial arc would be but they didn’t plan past that / for the fame and had to come up with more content. So they pivoted towards something more comedic or wacky.

I’m so glad someone is finally talking about this, I was so invested in the story until the wizard just popped up out of no where, I know he was an Easter egg, so it wasn’t really out of nowhere, but it just felt like it. I thought he would just appear in the background as a cute little side story or something, not a main character 😭
What I'm thinking and hoping is that this isn't a real plot line, that its a "dream" set up or meme plot that they wanted to do for their amusement. I just read this entire comic and it was really nice before the weird wizard stuff lmao Would have been nice to have more development for Dog and Hyena. Maybe have a more grounded reason for having Dog and Bird get stuck together to help Cat in some way so they can all learn to get along or whatever and move on. The wizard thing feels like a fever dream after one of them passes out playing that in-world video game 😂
UGHH you have no idea how validating this video made me feel! I also felt stupid for feeling so strongly about the story shift and direction it was going. I loved this comic! I loved getting to see the pages be posted, the conversations between characters, and I loved that it explored LGBTQ+ topics in a unique way where one of the protagonists didnt reciprocate those feelings and then we get to see how a queer person deals with something like that! It was so heartfelt, so real. I felt like the newest comic pages where they just throw that out the window and are focusing on a totally different shift in story was. Jarring? not a fan of it personally. Yeah the comic had it silly sorta random moments, but there wasnt anything leading up into what was a complete tonal shift from the down to earth and grounded in some reality it was before. I dont want to seem like im trashing on the newest pages, i still love the art, but this new direction is not it for me unfortunately :(
I totally agree dude. I know its their story and they're allowed to do what they want with it, but this shift just felt so weird and out of nowhere, completely changing the course of the story to something totally unrelated. I was so invested and this felt like a slap in the face followed by a huge middle finger, like it wanted to drive the viewers away. The worst thing is that people in the Instagram comments (platform where I read the series) will treat you like a total hater if you complain about the direction the comic went, saying "you hate fun" and stuff. No, I don't hate fun, I hate unrelated genre shiftes that occur after the world, characters and relationships have already been established, especially if it's into the opposite genre (realism to fantasy)

@AlextheOcto Of course, they did show the wizard a couple times, but it's the fact that it's so surreal compared to how the story had worked that it just seemed like an Easter egg; you wouldn't expect this kind of thing from a realistic story, that's what icks a lot of viewers; the sudden change in GENRE. The story was already amazing and portrayed realistic problems with realistic outcomes, which is what invested a lot of people, only to throw it aside for a weird fantasy plot? If they had wanted that, they would've searched for it. I went off topic kind of, but as for the foreshadowing, you're right actually, this was foreshadowed, I admit my mistake, but the change of plot/genre after establishing a realistic world and characters is totally weird.

i agree that it's a hard tone shift. i was invested in the plotline of cat and birds having time for themselves before being ok again, but i'm honestly confused to either like or dislike the story direction lol. for now i think it's funny, and i don't have a massive problem with it, but with so many people having different opinions and even going after each other on insta (the place i read the comic), i don't really know how to feel. i believe that after that plotline things will "go back to normal" and we will see more of more grounded character development, as you put it

As much as I understand the annoyance at "filler", I think we've lost the art and just timing for episodes to be little side stories about characters experiencing things where we can learn little things about them or have a break from super serious plots. Alot of shows and writing just rushing into big plot after big plot is just exhausting imo and wish there was more little breaks inbetween.
One Piece is debatable though bc I have zero idea what Oda is cooking and its like every week he's making up more OCs for his world and giving them whole arcs which is cool but damn is that alot.
So, I totally understand the frustration with the fantasy plotline out of nowhere, as someone who isn't a regular reader I was very confused seeing the posts with the wizard, but I will use this as an opportunity to talk about my favorite webcomic Spicy Mints.
From what you said in the video I think you'd enjoy it, it's a slice of life about college students and dealing with love, sexuality, friendships, although it does deal with heavier subjects such as s.a, alchoholism, familial pressure, and more.
I think its a very sweet story, with great plotlines and really compelling and relatable characters that's worth giving a read, hope you like it :]

You can argue it's a shift a tone, sure but Idunno, give it some faith. I didn't expect this comic to be 100% realistic as soon as Cat and Bird went "people watching".

tbh i don't think dog is a good character, and i don't think his character as it stands is worthy of being part of the title (especially bc hyena isn't). this isn't because he's a bad person, because he isn't. he's very pleasant, in fact. the problem is that he's written as a plot device, and also, as an immediate bird replacement for cat, as opposed to a new contrasting friendship; mostly the pacing of their friendship is far too fast, and dog really only acts as bird 2.0, except when he's moving the plot along (ex: telling cat that bird was probably uncomfortable about the kiss. personal preference, but i would've liked for cat to put at least some pieces together on her own, as this route makes cat read as oblivious and somewhat ignorant of other's feelings). dog's writing especially stands out when compared to bird and cat's, because while they read as people with depth, he does not. in fact, i'd go so far as to say that hyena reads as more of a person than dog does
@@az_is_tired honestly as much as I like dog as a silly sweet guy, your right. He doesn’t have nearly as much depth as the other two characters in the title of the comic. And I do feel bad that hyena is left out of the title as she definitely has more depth than dog. It is weird since in their Instagram posts and merch they include hyena almost as if she is one of the gang. But she’s not in the title so it’s just strange, like maybe her character was an after thought.
Tbh I think it’s too early to decide it’ll end up terrible.. I think if anything it took too long to get to this new plot. I think maybe if the scenes were in a different sequence to where we don’t get too used to the slice-of-life genre before switching to fantasy, maybe it would be better.

It's too sudden in my opinion. Yes, there were parts of the comic foreshadowing the arrival of the wizard, but it wasn't obvious enough. It seemed more like just a joke, and not anything to do with the main storyline.
I just wish the creators made it clear from the beginning that it wouldn't just be a regular slice of life comic. I mean, if they even KNEW it wouldnt be a regular slice of life comic, because its almost as if they randomly decided to go in this direction just because they didnt know where to go with the storyline.

As much as I like the series, I can agree that the wizard plot was kind of weird.
personally i disagree, i think this is an interesting and cool way to develop their relationship, by having them all overcome an obstacle like trying to get out of an isekai. As a writer, while this is a weird tonal shift, sometimes its easier and can make the story more fresh to switch it up, put the characters against an odd challenge. I don't understand why people are so annoyed about it, if you don't like it stop reading it.
To be honest, most people get annoyed when a story doesn't go the way they want it. When Dog was introduced, people hated him because people shipped Cat and Bird heavily and thought he was getting in the way of that. Eggbug definitely gets way too much hate for writing a story the way THEY want to. I don't mind the change in setting since it was set up through the news reports in the background of certain panels. It was foreshadowed they'd probably get kidnapped too.

When it wasn't, it was a nice change of scenery and Anne catches up with her parents (obviously different), she's matured or at least gained more sense of responsibility over the Planters.

Anywho, series and shows tend to switch up their setting once they've grounded their characters.

I don't know if I'd be so quick to hate on the plot shift. It's been like ten pages, so I think it's too early to judge. Besides, fantasy stories still rely on character relatablility, which shouldn't change with the setting. A lot of stories go back and forth between fantasy and slice of life dynamics, so I could see them doing something like that. The lore of the fantasy world doesn't seem too deep, so I could see it being temporary, or just a backdrop for a fundamentally down to earth story.

I read the whole thing right after watching this video and yeah..I hate the way the wizard was just thrown into the story. i loved watching all the characters interact but the wizard thing just felt so.. weird? i was so exciting watching the characters interact especially in the scene where they all meet cause that's when tensions were high, but i feel like the whole wizard thing just made no sense and ruined the story for me.

Also the wizard just wanting to infodump is fun in a similarly grounded way to the rest of the comic. I doubt the fantasy plotline is going to overtake everything. I'm generally for people telling the stories they wanna tell, but they've gotta be prepared for backlash. I hope Eggbug studio knows what they're getting into. I wasn't gobsmacked by the twist. I remember just thinking "huh." Not questioning or curious, just kinda nonplussed. And that might not have anything to do with the comic itself, so much as just what I'm looking for to read.
The tricky thing about pulling a genre or thematic twist on your audience (and this only matters is your really WANT to build an audience) is that they might drop the story whether it's good or not cuz they're just not interested in that genre right now.
I like isekai and fantasy adventure stories just fine, but I've read or am reading ENOUGH of them, and got hooked on catbirddog cuz a cute and grounded slice of life is what I was looking for.

My hope is that the wizard plotline shift going on right now is a set-up for a plush line of the characters because of the wizard's ability to plushify people, and once the line is revealed we'll get back to the original grounded story. But that's just speculation 🤷♂
Also ! I highly recommend DOGHAUS comic if you haven't read it because it has a similar grounded vibe. It still has silly plotlines, but they match the tone a lot better imo.

I wish there was some warning this was how the plot was gonna turn out. I know people say that the wizard was in the bg, but that kind of just came off as a Easter egg and not foreshadowing. I really don't care for the type of story it's turning into, since I'm not a fan of fantasy really.
It might just be me, but i kinda like big whiplash moments, i mean as long as the charcters don't suddenly change. Like problem A being a big driving force in the first half, then out of nowhere problem B arrives, not deminishing problem A but adding onto it, like things dont sunddenly change even if your world is turnd inside out, but it might change a perspective. I deffenatly think this sort of thing can be done wrong, but sudden Fantacy in a grounded world can work imo. But i don't think its for everyone either. I haven't read this comic to know if they are pulling this whiplash off well or not. But its not the worst idea for a story imo.
I can see this working if it's for a time travel plot like if Cat regretted something she did/regretted the current outcome. Then here's more meaningful dialogue/what ifs/ AU speak. Like what if the wizard is really cat from an AU and he became aware of this Cat's timeline and he needed to also stop it for some reason? Sigh. Lost potential.
I'm hoping it's that waking up from a dream cliché because it felt out of nowhere and it would be fine if it was part of the plot line but it wasn't it was randomly shoved in half way.

It has been that long since they changed the plot. Dont see how that necessarily "ruins" the story when they can go back to it afterwards.

It was my favorite comic since I discovered episode 3. I'm also really disappointed with the whole fantasy stuff. It just felt so random and out of nowhere!
And even though I pretty much hated where EggBugStudios was going with it, I thought maybe it might be a good change! I mean I thought that the Wizard might be like a metaphor or something to show difficulties of life or something like that.
And the line came: "I'm doing this so someone listens to my entire retelling of my favorite video game plotline."

This development annoyed and confused me so much, like they're trying to be goofy and random and funny but they fail in everything except for the randomness. It just came straight out of left field and i lost all interest in the story 😭
