- We review the TCL C715 QLED TV from TCL. The TV brings with it QLED backlighting and a VA panel. It has a resolution of 4K along with support for HDR 10, HDR 10+, HLG and Dolby Vision. The TV runs on Stock Android TV UI and comes with 4 far-field mics so you can talk to the TV without using the remote control. It also has 30W sound output. it comes with two positions for the feet of the TV so you can fit a larger size TV on a small entertainment cabinet. @@bobsbro4 I didn't mean in that way don't take me wrong please, the point is if someone doesn't have like a million subscribers normally you don't expect much from him (at least I didn't for this guy). He proved me wrong and I'm glad for it. He deserved the praise and im sure plenty would agree.

Great review. I am considering TCL. However, I would like to know if there would be a difference in picture quality between C715 & C815 65". I have a home theatre so I wouldn't mind about the sound. Also if I use the optical out to my AVR, will it pull 5.1 content if I use Netflix & prime? awaiting your reply

Does fire tv stick 4k improves the picture quality?
How does the picture quality in comparison with Samsung qled tv?

Is the lower screen brightness a issue in moderately dark room?
There isn't hardly any difference in picture quality.
It basically emulates samsung with color and definition. But this is why its a cheaper tv. Because it's true refresh rate is at 50 hz. The Chinese company uses their own tech to get it equal to a 100 hz tv. So it's same as a samsung 100 hz tv. But what does this all mean?,...well when there is motion like fast action of a ball being hit in a cricket game, or a fast moving train there will be a blur in some parts of the background or even on the close up of an object. Like the wheel of the moving train. With 200 hz you won't see it. Thats it.
So 100 hz samsung and tcl c715 nearly same in price. But once you upgrade to 200hz samsung then price gap is significant.
Did you have the chance to compare this tv versus the Samsung QLED ones? Or versus LG Nano technology?
Hi can you review the C815 65 INCH TV as its got and different panel.. like its having 120 refresh rate and MEMC tech.. and one more thing can i know when will C815 available..As i have enquir in local market and searched online also but none has any idea abt the availability..

Hi. Could you plz compare C715 with LG 55NANO816 by picture quality, resolution and black levels. On the smart part that is not necessary for me, I can handle with one of the tv box.

I think they may have reacted to complaints about the simple remote. My set came with that remote and a second more comprehensive one including numeric buttons, preset buttons etc.. Both are referred to in the manual so it's not simply a retailer adding a second remote. In fact I find it difficult to understand how many of the settings can be accessed with the simple remote (not that I've used it much).
I have seen the washed out skin colour you refer to but have been able to minimise that with the comprehensive colour, contrast, brightness settings with a lot of experimentation.
As for the excessive warmth you mention - have you tried the "tint" control with its warm/neutral/cold options?
One thing I don't think you mention is that, while the picture from directly in front of tv is excellent, the off angle picture is very poor. Everything darkens very quickly as you move away from the centre. Not something I saw with my previous Samsung LED tv.

Can you please suggest on the presence of eArc port, so i can connect my Dolby home theatre system. It would be best if you can physically attach a 5.1 system

I was wondering if the 50" model is different or likely to perform similarly? Also, I've noticed the mid to low end TVs often struggle with decent local dimming. We think the 50-inch should perform similarly. local dimming is present on the Tv and works well. However, the UI is slower than we'd like.

Good review. Perhaps you could update it with an overview of the Android UI and how responsive it is when opening apps, moving through apps etc - the Achilles Heel of many an under-powered Android TV with insufficient RAM.

Just a quick question please. When recording a tv program is there any way to get the recording info off the screen i.e. the timer/settings/"do not pull out USB". It's REALLY annoying when it covers text on the screen telling who is being interviewed etc

I was wondering if a new AV receiver would recognise Dolby Atmos on the display if I play a movie on Netflix, or do you still need a decoder to stream the Atmos audio to a surround home theater setup?

You didn’t mention how bright the TV gets (in nits), if it has local dimming and if yes how many zones, is it edge lit or backlit?

TCL TV's seem to have alot of adjusting before you get a good picture. Then it doesn't translate very well between gaming, 4k movies, 1080p. Having to adjust them constantly.
Yes. Had mine a week and have spent a lot of time adjusting the settings. The default settings are not very good.
However there are several choices of settings including gaming, PC as well as movie, dynamic, sport etc which can be individually set up. Set them once and then choose the appropriate option when viewing.
There's also a sport setting in addition to the sport option which seems to put the tv into a specific mode cutting out all the other options and I've found that good for soccer games.
The PC setting - I'm using it now as I use this TV as my PC monitor - is another independent setting with brighter screen and less control over colour options. Good for text on screen.

Hello Digit reviewer, I would like to have a TV with the best picture quality and I have two options one is MIQLED 55and the other one is TCL c715 55 inches. which one is best in terms of picture quality, Because after watching your reviews I’ve learned that MI has green tint and the TCL has very vivid or highly saturated picture quality,Please suggest me one option which is good in terms of picture quality and also let me know which one is more bearable is it the green tent or the high saturation if tcl
in the past i had google pixel 2xl which was highly saturated in n colors and i returned it and bought samsung note 9 so you know what i’m saying!
I brought the one and ran couple of benchmark and it showed up that the panel is not 4k along with that the storage in the system is 11gigs total and 7.8 gigs useful what should I do now ?
