Its beautiful! Thanks for the info. I have to ask. I bought these exact panels for my basement remodel. The really smell. Did you panels smell and did the smell go away after you used the quick set on them?
Oh my goodness. You are amazing and a God send. I am going to do my cement pour-plastered wall with this. Thank you so much, as a home body, I'm always looking for ways to make my home feel warm and inviting .
Looks beautiful! I have to say that your faux brick wall is the nicest I've seen. I want to do this but I have to ask if you've had any issues with the mortar sticking to the panel or crumbling afterward. I've seen comments in other tutorials stating to use joint compound or spackle as mortar does not stick. Any issues with adherence? Also is it washable?
I was curious, if you wanted more brick to show through would you use less product or wipe it off with a rag? If you wipe it away how much time do you have? Looks great. Can't wait to see finished area.
You could really do either! I would probably lean towards wiping it off so that it does get some coverage and then you can take a wet sponge and wipe the desired amount off. It doesn't dry super fast but the thinner the coat, the faster it will dry.
What did you use to make it stick to the wall! It feels like I’ve tried every substance! On a spot that has concrete I guess it’s to the DIY faux for me on that part of the wall LOL
I just used construction adhesive and some brad nails to hold it in place while it dries. For a concrete wall, brad nails wouldn’t work but you could use a strong tape to hold it in place while the glue dries. Hope that helps!
Your video has inspired me to do this as a feature wall in our living room. I’m just wondering do you have to seal it? Does the wall kick off a lot of “dust”? I am just worried that I’m going to be vacuuming up white wall dust all the time?
I’m glad to help with some inspiration! You can definitely seal it if you want but there is no dust that comes off it. They only reason it may do that is if abrasive things run up against it continually.
@@olivegreyavenue you definitely have! We did the ikea built in bench for our dining room! My kids would definitely do that. What would you seal it with?
Question, what if I don’t want to paint the panels. You think just finding a grout that matches really good and use slot just in the grout lines and then cleanup the bricks will work?
It could definitely work. I personally wouldn’t use the panels if they’re not painted or shmeared because you’ll be able to tell they aren’t real brick but if that doesn’t bother you, it’ll work!
@@olivegreyavenue I’m thinking of doing my garage just for a background for my arcade games. So it’s cool if it looks a little fake. I’m hoping to get a grout close enough so I can just use on the seams and feather it out so I don’t have to do all the grout lines
im surprised other larger channels especially that joanna gaines wanna be channel did not come up with that technique. they actually did someone elses house and did not cut the brick panel like you did. it makes me wonder....
Ok I liked this because you’re the first one that showed cutting the bricks to make them even. Drives me nuts and well done. Thank you
Thanks! It drives me nuts to see the seam!
Would have liked to see the whole finished wall.
I have a lot more projects in this space to come so can’t give it all away at once 😉
Was thinking the same thing. Video about the process but doesn’t show product lol.

I don’t remember mine smelling but I’m sure the German schmear would cover any smell!
Great job! Maybe linger a little longer on showing the wonderful finished wall from up close and far. Thanks again!

So simple but brilliant! Bravo
Thanks!
I feel the same about those seams! I just don't understand how people don't notice?! 🤔 Just found your channel - now I'm going to binge watch it all!
I agree with you! Ah thank you for watching and being here!
haha, me too!

I’ve had no issues with its durability but I’d say it isn’t washable however I’ve never tried
Did you do any thing after the morter? Where is the finished product
Thank you!! This is the video I wanted to see! I had the same idea but was scared to do it until I seen this video. Thanks (:
Glad I could help!
One of the first videos I watched about these wall panels was a couple who did as you’re doing, and they were almost crying in frustration.
Oh it wasn’t bad! You have to cut all the grout out to help them fit together easiest.

Can this be used as backsplash?
How can I cover up the seam without schmearing the entire wall? Any tips? I'd like to keep brick color, but still somehow hide the seam.
You could try caulking with a similar colored caulk

I've been thinking the same thing!
Did I miss some instruction about how to cut/place each panel to fit like a puzzle? I imagine you would need to offset the panels by a row?
Yes you do need them to be offset!

@@just_hit_pan1393 oh how awesome! I would seal it with a grout sealer
What if you want the finish on the panel as purchased? If you're not mortar smearing then what?
I would still cut the half panels and then caulk or grout those with a matching color
Wonderful job!!! ❤New viewer
Thank you! And thanks for watching! I hope you stick around 😊
How much mortar did you use for your wall? We want to do a 40 feet wall.
I used about 3/4-1 gallon bucket per 4x8 sheet

@@olivegreyavenue ty for reply
@@KingZarkon oh yeah it’ll be perfect for that!
Merci pour votre travail
Merci
You could always use the mortar and then use paint
You can absolutely do that too!
Just did this and it is really difficult to get the pieces to fit together
I cut the half brick and all the “mortar” away so there’s extra room to fit together and then you can do extra trimming as needed with a multitool.
im surprised other larger channels especially that joanna gaines wanna be channel did not come up with that technique. they actually did someone elses house and did not cut the brick panel like you did. it makes me wonder....
There are ways that people “hide” the seam but I can see it enough for it to bother me so I think this is the best way to do it 😉
@@olivegreyavenue i agree. i can see the seems to and i choose not to use this product until i saw this video. im going to rethink it now.
Where is the finished product video?
