No he did fail, but there’s nothing wrong with failure when you’re working your ass off. But let’s stop sugarcoating things, he himself acknowledged that he failed this time.
Didn’t expect to see you do this down the road 😂 Good effort Fergus! Looks like you have it everything and that’s all you can ever ask for with these things! Can’t wait to see the next challenge!
You are such a weapon it’s unbelievable! I can’t imagine how it must feel to miss it by 5 seconds but honestly to even be capable of either of these feats is incredible! I’m certain you could do it on another attempt one day
dude a 5 mile pace is still insane nonetheless. I have yet to get there! This is just speculation but maybe you could aim for a 4:50 mile time then hit the dead lift at 4:55/4:56. But even then catching your breath after a mile is hard as is. Especially sub 5
Are you saying he should try to run first then do the deadlift? Cus there is no way that is a better approach …. Did you see him after the run? Good luck pulling a high effort deadlift in that state.
@@chrisryan6269 even as someone who does fitness (myself) i am truly dumb founded by my comment lol. I definitely think my brain was not thinking about how the deadlift should be first and then the mile. Because yeah youre right there would be no way to pull a 500lb dead after feeling dead
This is epic! So close!!! you can see you gave it your all and it wouldnt be a crazy challenge if you were sure to get it Quick question about your strategy of consolidating stressors (hard workouts) into the same day. Do you do this to train specifically for your goal (because you do heavy lift and run back to back)? or do you think this is the best way to train in general. I've got a primary focus on triathlon but still want to be somewhat strong (and also I imagine a bit of strength helps in triathlon) but I am unsure whether putting squat/deadlift (evening) day on my hard cycle and hard run (morning) days is just completely destroying the muscle or if there is a benefit. If i move the gym days to easier training days then i never really have an easy day so I guess its a tough choice to make. Would love to see any study where you derived your strategy from!
Okay those are impressive numbers to start the video with. A triathlon after a powerlifting meet? I'm surprised you don't have militaries around the world paying you to train their soldiers
Haha tbf we have a hugeee amount of military/tactical athletes working with us at Omnia Performance, with plenty of successful SF applicants previously 🤝
I was just watching and thinking about your gait when you mentioned your limbs. You stride looks quite short and choppy. Have you ever tried any run/speed coaches to tidy up your form, try and work a bit of efficiency? Im a lorg boi too and youre inspiring me to have a rattle at a 5min mile next year, plus ive got my name in the Celtman Ballot.. 🤦
Its still a insane pace and with the deadlift its even crazier massive respect!
You didn't fail. You Learned.
No he did fail, but there’s nothing wrong with failure when you’re working your ass off. But let’s stop sugarcoating things, he himself acknowledged that he failed this time.
He had both failed&learned
Wel done you took on a great challenge. No shame, great effort should be mega proud.
That deadlift look like it flew up, amazing effort such a pity you missed out by such a narrow margin
chuffing good effort, mate.
I sprained my ankle a week before my first marathon and then ended up in chemotherapy. Starting over now. You’ll do it.
‘I’m gonna be sick’ I shouldn’t laugh but it was delivered beautifully 😂👊🏼 💥
Tks for sharing ❤
That was freakin intense!! Fantastic work Fergus! Mad respect. 👍😊
Really impressive well done!
Massive effort, good job.. looking forward to the next challenge.
absolute beast regardless 🦾
I think failed is a strong word. Who else can do either of those things?
Insane effort mate, you pushed really hard

This is phenomenal Fergus. Take away that headwind and I think you’d have had it! Riveting video as always 💪
I am such a fan Fergus. Good good effort. What an effort and that you keep challenging yourself and us with new and worthy challenges. Keep strong.
so close, but still a massive accomplishment!
Good effort 👊
It would be cool for you and Nick Bare to do content together. Two top hybrid athletes
@@dpcaterAbsolutely...it's not debateable
That's insanely impressive dude!
This is a phenomenal effort - well done
Fell short! Dam impressive, wouldn’t be many people having a go at this. Well done.
Fergus, you’re the goat man. You’ve inspired so many. Don’t doubt your self. Life was hard for me and your efforts kept me going. Keep inspiriting

Also appreciate the fact that you do fail sometimes. Makes you so much more human and relatable even though you’re well above my fitness level haha 😊
So inspirering 💪👍
Great effort 💪
Do the math and you only failed by 1.6%...pretty close

That's an insane physical feat.
305 seconds to pull&pace. That is mind blowingly impressive

Brilliant

@@ferguscrawley95 nice! You must excuse me, I am new here but I love hybrid athletes so at some point I will have to look into your company
I have to hop the fence at my track sometimes because they don’t open till 9 and once the woman came in mid session and she completely ruined my day
Calmer opening 300-400 meters could have made a big difference too. Unreal effort though. Congratulations!
That's dirrrrrrty. Didn't realize you were fast like that.
Just too windy, next time 555lbs +1mile under 5 min with better weather conditions
Great effort. You have my respect. Should have gone 505lb haha
should try it in reverse ie run the mile then the do the lift , to see how long takes to stop the clock with 500lb deadlift - sub 10 maybe lol?
Were you wearing spikes or did you not allow yourself that?

I think you actually did make it the bar was so far from the start line….
1 mile is 1609 metres = 4 full laps + 9 metres
Thomas Edison failed over 2000 plus times before inventing the light bulb.

Seriously you should consider yourself one of it not the best in the world at these kinds of events
