Him sitting on his couch just looking at nothing, absolutely brilliant.
*i do that all the time and what does it get me? nothing but grief and harassment from others telling me to get back to work*
With one self-confident braincell
That was not in the script originally. He was doing that before the scene to get into character and the director saw it and loved it and put it in.
I like to think he had been there for quite a while before the phone rings...
@@docdaneeka3424 haha I bet.
No guy in the world but Puddy can deliver a regular line like "yeah that's right" and somehow make it funny as hell 😂😂😂
Yeah that’s right
great at deadpan. jack benny was another.
I don't think hell is funny, but hey, you're the one going to hell! :-)
Delivery.
See more on the sitcom Rules of Engagement.
"You gotta be kidding how come?" ... just the fact that there's no pause in that made me laugh
That's one of the things that makes the show great, unusual choices by actors and unusual direction.
Part of Puddy’s comedic timing, is to reply just a split second faster than the normal rhythm of conversation. Not the slightest pause for reflection at all. It just gives this confident, yet hilariously awkward feel to whatever he says... it sort of leaves the other character baffled
True ay never really thought about why his character was so funny
That’s a very clever observation.
Nailed it
Lol thats true
Yeah, that's right.
Puddy was one of the most emotionally balanced characters in Seinfeld. He's not smart, but he's comfortable with who he is.
I love him.
not smart? I don't care for that phrase. He can take apart a fuel injector!
Yeah but hes a face painter.

what is the most amazing thing is... he was in only 9 episodes the entire series! yet, he is one of the most memorable characters ever! love that guy!
Yeah that’s right
Only 9??? Wow, I had no idea ...
O.O Wiki actually says 10 episodes but still, Puddy is iconic. How does an actor make a character so memorable in a handful of episodes? (Seinfeld was 180 episodes.) He was/is Brock Samson on "The Venture Brothers" but he's a regular there. 10 out of 180 and he's easily one of the top characters outside the main 4.

One thing this show was brilliant at was casting. They always found the perfect person for the part. Puddy is one of the best examples of that.
mischiefpwns Jackie Chiles, Soup Nazi, Newman, all great in their parts.
Iam pretty sure they also mold the character on the actor a little
To me he is actually one of the worst. Dull, annoying, and stupid

The biggest loss for the Seinfeld show was not being able to secure Puddy for more regular appearances like Newman; Puddy was a fantastic addition and added a further dynamic to the show.
Yeah that’s right

The BEST line and we were not allowed to hear the audience responding before it was cut to the next scene in this video!
@@scipioafricanus5871 It wasn't a live studio audience
@@peateargriffin7593 The show was structured around a live studio audience. They even tried to do the OB shots with bleachers setup to accommodate an audience, but found that it was too hard for the audience to hear the dialogue outdoors. So, they had a live audience for the indoor shooting and mixed it with canned laughter. A lot of the time they didn't need the canned laughter.
Funniest line ever

The "dip for dinner" is so obviously a Seinfeld line.

Jeff Garlin did the same thing in Curb. A good joke deserves repeating.
indeed... i wonder who did the joke first. i find a lot of Seinfeld jokes on old British comedies.
For me, watching that scene is about 65% laughing at Puddy's blank expression and 35% fighting the urge to yell at the screen, "For god's sake, how can you just sit there and stare?!"
