I love this kind of content, I also don't like to throw away clothes so what my mom does with the discarded pieces is that she uses them as cleaning cloths or for some sewing project 👒🩰
I was so inspired by Marie Kondo when she first came on the scene! I don’t follow all of her tips, but some (like the folding) have stuck with me for years ❤️
I really like your clothing style, it looks so unique and the necklace suits you so well ❤ Thank you for the reminder that I need these underbed boxes! I wanted to buy them for such a long time now 😅
🎉🎉 i take older shirts and bottoms (paint stained) and wear them for lounge or cleaning! Helps keep stuff that still fits me useful until i genuinely wear it out.
🧣 I never thought my closet to be small, but now I have the funds to buy and make more clothes it sometimes seems to be. For me decluttering, and especially the being conscious of what I buy, has been most of what helps. I think I wouldn't want a bigger closet, because then I'd certainly have clothes I'd forget to wear, no matter how much I'd love them.
I wouldn’t mind *slightly* bigger closets (all the winter gear/layers take up a lot of space) but otherwise I’m with you! I feel like a big closet would make my subconscious feel like I have to fill it 😅
I did my first semi seasonal wardrobe swap this year. I took the jumper out the bottom draw and hung them up and put the summer dresses in the draw. I frequently have stuff in the front of the bottom of my dresser (small room life) so getting in that draw is huge effort. I didn’t remove all winter items or summer one cos I don’t have a off season place to store them but it definitely a area I need to work out cos my clothes is probably smaller than yours.
Here's something to add to your toolbox of buying less... If after reviewing your inventory, you are leaning on getting another green sweater, choose something in your closet to purge, as you only have a fixed amount of space. I usually choose to keep what I have rather than getting rid of it and buying something new. 💖🌞🌵😷
In Puerto Rico, all the seasons look and feel like summer, maybe in the winter nights can be a little bit chilly, but it's not necessary to swap all your clothing, because is not a dramatic change. We don't get near snow whatsoever. Nevertheless, I really liked your tips for organizing and the swapping of the closet looked very efficient! The pile system is something that I think I can implement to declutter my closet! 🧵🪡👗
I'm glad the swap out system still gave you some useful ideas even though you don't have to change your wardrobe for the different seasons! I definitely think everyone can benefit from regular declutters ❤
Great idea. If our weather here in California would decide what it wants to be, I need to switch to my summer clothes- a chore I dread because I don’t have a system for it. Thank you for the great ideas!!
I found a great way to buy less is to research and understand the impact of the clothing industry, particularly fast fashion, at all stages of the process. It encourages me to only buy what is necessary and try to buy those necessities in an as ethical way as possible
Because I don't like hanging my clothes, I decided to put bookshelves in my closet. I can fold my tops, pants, PJs and see everything I have. And there's enough space to hang jackets, dresses etc. My sister built an Ikea dresser for her closet too and it's super practical!
@@PlantBasedBride Usually it is recommended to fold and not hang (bulky) sweaters, especially made from natural materials. The weight of the clothes stretches the garment out.
This is all great advice! It must be nice, though, to live in a place where the weather doesn't spend three months (March, April, May) vacillating between winter & spring (seriously, it can go from 80 to 50 Fahrenheit in a day), requiring a person to have large parts of both wardrobes available... It tends to do a similar, though not quite as drastic thing in September and October. Sigh. Luckily, my closet isn't quite as tiny as Elizabeth's! (It's also crammed with clothes!😄)
It doesn’t oscillate quite so much, but we definitely have a lot of temperature variation in the early spring and late summer! That’s why I keep out some sweaters, longsleeve shirts, and pants along with my warmer weather things 🤗
👕👗👖thank you. My closet is sorted very similar to yours. I enjoy your insights. I will be moving into a new home soon. My own first home. I will be using many of your tips going forward.💚💚💚
This came at the best time! I just moved back into my moms house and my room seriously needs a refresh. I need help-I CANNOT figure out where to put my brown clothes in the rainbow organization. They don’t fit anywhere!!!
Honestly, so many of these tips can still apply! You have more space to work with which means you have more options when it comes to configuring your closet to best suits your needs ❤️ have you done any built-ins?
@@PlantBasedBride yes. My husband removed all the wire shelving that came in the closet, fitted in wood shelves and metal clothing rails. I need to utilize bins more, though. Right now, my folded clothing is just there. I like the idea of organizing them better into bins and cloth drawers that fit within my built-ins.
Love organization content! It's always quite funny to me what American and Canadian people consider a 'small' closet. I am in a country without built-in closets and this amount of space looks pretty average to me. Anyway thank you for sharing your pretty closet!
Love all your tips too! I've been on a major closet overhaul recently after a dramatic weight change. I have so many different sizes of clothes in my closet atm... I put a ton aside to donate, and a few to sell on.
I’d say mine is pretty average in Canada! I’d still consider it small to hold an entire wardrobe, though (but I’ve always loved clothes and had a lot of dresses and loungewear, specifically) 😅 I’ve never had a closet any bigger than this!
Nice video! ❤ I have recently joined a Dutch initiative of a clothing loop where you can exchange clothes you want to donate with neighbors that have joined the loop as well. They have this concept in multiple countries, maybe fun to try out with clothing you don’t want anymore in you neighborhood. They have an English site about the concept too
I loved this! Even though we don’t have significant weather changes here, I still like to rotate seasonal clothing based on color scheme and activities.
I love that! It really does feel like getting a new wardrobe which is so fun (and really helps cut back on shopping for me!) 🥰 I’ve been loving having all my warm weather clothing out!
This was a really relaxing video just like all of your videos. 👔 I just started going through my stuff recently because I’ve realized how much stuff I have that I just don’t need. It is going to be a process.😅
For minimalsm in clothing: I think it’s a huge difference depending on where you live and how many seasons there are. 😊 trouser hanging parts are sooo practical. But also space consuming in conparison I guess
Yeah it definitely can but I feel like my pants always seem to take up more space when I fold or roll them 🤔 maybe that’s just a placebo but I enjoy the pants hanger regardless 😂
Great way to use your vertical space 😄😉 my cat would love your beautiful dish of rings, the game would be how fast can I throw them on the floor 😂 I have mine in a pretty box on my dresser. 👖
Oo awesome! I hope it helps you ❤️ I’ve been blown away by how much more I can fit in this closet than closets in the past with just a rail and a shelf!

Your pile categories are EXACTLY what I need. I’ve been trying to declutter my wardrobe for about a month now so this video was extremely timely 😂😅
Oh good! You’ve got this 🙌
I love this kind of content, I also don't like to throw away clothes so what my mom does with the discarded pieces is that she uses them as cleaning cloths or for some sewing project 👒🩰
Love that! I have a basket full of older clothes in my sewing room to use when I need little pieces of fabric ❤️
i love this!! ever since reading marie kondo’s book i’ve had SO much better closet organization and seeing your very aesthetic closet is so inspiring!

Aw thank you ☺ They are so helpful! I hate having wasted space under the bed that just ends up a graveyard of cat toys and lonesome socks 😂
I really love this a lot. I love also how your hair, lips, tops, pants and even your nails stand out yet they compliment each other
🎉🎉 i take older shirts and bottoms (paint stained) and wear them for lounge or cleaning! Helps keep stuff that still fits me useful until i genuinely wear it out.
Love that! I do this, too. So many loungewear pieces that are just decade old clothes that I still wear even though they’re full of holes lol
I've been putting off organizing my closet for months.... this is the boost in motivation I needed! and those under bed fabric bins are AMAZING!
Yay, I’m so glad I could give you some motivation! 🥰

Great tip! I find this gets harder as I add more vintage/secondhand pieces to my wardrobe. Each piece starts to feel so special to me! 😅❤️

🧦 Thank you so much for the great advice!!
You’re so welcome! 🥰
These tips were so helpful, Elizabeth! I'm absolutely going to try them ❤
Oh good! I hope they work for you ❤️
Try for days to recycle the trash pile! They recycle damaged fabric. Love the tips!
Oo Thank you for this!! I didn’t have any trash this time but I’ll look into them for the future ❤️

Oo that's such a cool solution, I love it! I love hanging clothes but they tend to take up more space that way (except for super bulky sweaters) ❤

I put brown between reds/oranges and yellow usually!
Great tips! I have a big closet now, but still feel like it's really unorganized. I do wish I had, had this guide when we lived in our smaller home. 👗

My tip is nothing revolutionary, just turn your slightly damaged pieces into lounge wear. And then into scraps and rags.
