Don't you get tired keeping legs at one position? Because of protruding engine on both sides prevent stretching legs. Also in case you drop the bike, the protruding portion of the engine could be seriously damage. I love the bike and BMW makes great products. But i have these concerns. What are your thoughts?
My legs do get tired a bit, yes. Not enough to prevent me from riding it every day. And yes, I hadn’t thought of that, I suppose the engine is exposed. Still love it
I say who cares, GS riders have been bashing their cylinder heads on rocks for years. Dont drop the R18, and if it happens at low speed like most drops, probably wont be a huge deal. these things are durable.
Easy fix for both... I put crash guards on... protects against drops (I will admit to dropping my R18B once) and give you a place to rest your legs so they are not on top of the hot cylinders.
It’s no different to many if not all bikes, you sit where you sit. It’s a very roomy riding position for me at 5’11” anyway. Don’t just go on a few UA-cam haters that want clicks.
