theBurntEggRoll I’m starting lyft this weekend . I’ve download the app and it seems harder than the Uber app. When I pick up a person for the first time do they let me see where the person is going ?
watch2muchtv hi. After you confirm arrival on the Lyft app it will show you where they are going. Hope this helps. I also use google maps built into the Lyft app
Do you know if they will hire someone with a misdemeanor theft charge?
Hi Michael. I'm not sure. The only way to find out is to apply and they will do a free background check so if it it an issue they will let you know. But I think you should be ok if it was a long time ago.

theBurntEggRoll - Some friendly advice from a fellow experienced Uber/Lyft driver.
First, don't cancel rides once you have accepted them. If you cancel to many rides you can be suspended from Lyft. Only cancel if you absolutely have too. If you cancel just once in a blue moon after you accept a ride, you will be ok. But only do it if absolutely necessary. It's better to just not hit accept once the app starts pinging and doing it's 10 second countdown. Just let it time out and log off.
But it's best to log off before you get another request. Also cleanliness is a must. Passengers expect a clean car. Both inside and out.
Never talk politics. If the passenger insists, just agree with them and act like you share the same point of view as they do. Even if you don't. You only have to deal with a customer for around 10 to 15 minutes on average once they get in your car anyway.
Always say hello and greet your passenger when they get in the car. Ask how their day is? Try to always smile and act like you care about them. Hopefully you do though. But if you don't, act like it anyway. Most passengers are friendly. But about 15% will just get into your car and won't really want to talk to you at all. They will just bury themselves into their cell phones, or put on headphones.
If a passenger is giving you one word answers, it's a good sign they just want to be left alone. Always play music on a radio station that is non offending. You want a safe radio station. No religious, heavy metal, or country.
Typically light rock is the most universally accepted music genre. If the customer wants to change the station, or use an Aux cord to play their own music through the their cell phone, I typically allow it.
If the passenger wants to crank the radio and is just out for fun that night with friends, I typically allow them to play the radio at higher volumes. Remember, that the ride isn't likely to be much over 15 minutes on average anyway once they get in. (Just a reminder again.)
Also it's against Lyft and Uber terms of service to haul around unaccompanied minors under the age of 18. If they get in, tell them that you can't take them to their destination, as it's against the rules and often law. If you don't know how old they are and you already started the trip and only find out well into the ride how old they are, it's then best to take them to where they are going.
Then once you let them out, rate them 3 stars and let Lyft know that you only found out how old they were well into the ride. Tell them it wasn't safe to let the passenger out and it was just safer to get them to where they needed to go. Just tell them you are rating them low in protest that they were minors.
If you rate a passenger 3 stars or lower, you will not see that passenger again. So if you have a very bad experience with a passenger, just rate them 3 stars and lower. You won't have to worry about being paired with that passenger again.
Otherwise it's best to always rate 5 stars. If you don't rate the passenger, then after 24 hours, Lyft will issue that passenger a 5 star rating on your behalf.
Speaking of ratings. You want to always give the best possible experience to your passenger. This is because you want to be rated highly. And in turn passengers want a good rating too.
A Driver must not drop under a 4.6 star rating. (Goes for Uber too.) Anything less than a 4.6 star rating, can get you fired from the Lyft platform.
A driver should always strive for a 5 star ride from the passenger. 4 stars and below is considered failure. Yes! A 4 star ride will go against you.
And the lower the star rating you get from the passenger, the more it will impact your score.
This is why it's critical you try to do your best. You need to get 5 star ratings from a passenger. If a passenger doesn't rate you at all, then don't worry. Failure to rate the driver will not go against your score.
And in turn, this is for passengers! If you get bad marks from your Uber driver, your score will drop too. A passenger with a bad rating will find it harder and more difficult to get a Uber or Lyft driver to pick themselves up. Your wait times will gradually increase when trying to get a ride. And you will find drivers canceling on you if your score gets too low. If you get to many complaints from drivers, you can also be deactivated even as a passenger.
A lot of drivers start to get nervous if they see a score of 4.3 or lower. So if you find drivers canceling on you, it could be due to your score. Passengers should respect their Uber/Lyft driver. They are using their own car to transport you. It is not a Lyft/Uber company vehicle.
A driver is a contractor for Uber/Lyft. If a driver thinks you are a danger, or are damaging their property, or you are belligerent towards the driver in anyway, then the driver has the right to cancel the trip and literally kick you out of their car. They are not Uber or Lyft employees.

PS. Service animals must be allowed into your car. Even if you have a fear of dogs. This is the law. Some folks don't know about this rule. So I figured I would just give you a heads up.

Scootaloo - Great info I've been with Uber 2 months and could have used this information when I started. I don't play the radio, but I stick to a cd of Sade, Brian McKnight, Bob Marley and Whitney Houston and I provide no AUX or loud music. In Miami the average ride is way less than 15 minutes depending traffic and location. I got a 2014 Q50 Hybrid and I keep it immaculate no stains or even one scratch, riders really appreciate it and I always get compliments. My rating so far is 4.99 with over 191 rated 5 star trips and 1 rated 4 star (4 is not good). Be courteous, help with bags at all times and ask passengers for assistance if your not sure, two languages a BIG plus, all best practices. Again thanks for posting.

Thanks for the post! I did 1 day of Uber and I feel as though the app and the way it works is too complicated. I also don't like how I can't put in what area I want to stay in. I am looking to switch to Lyft. This video was very helpful. Also, you should have your voice on audiobooks.

Thanks Mike! Yeah I figured it out after making a few mistakes here and there in the beginning. I also started driving with Uber so I stay more busy. Hopefully one day Lyft and Uber put in a ranking system for people that drive more so we either get priority or a small bump in pay. That will give people more incentive to drive more.

If you can't get close enough when arriving you must manually EXIT the built-in navigation. Then you canfirm that you have arrived.
The reason you couldn't confirm that you arrived to pickup those two people at the gated community is because the built-in navigation was still running. It runs on top and hides alot of useful functionality in the driver app.
You can force the built-in nav to stop by tapping the "Exit" button.
After the built-in nav has stopped you will see the normal driver app screen with features allowing you to "Tap to Arrive" and also to "Drop Off" at the end of the trip.

You have to have a car that is allowed by Lyft to do Premier rides. Took someone from Redondo to the airport with regular Lyft and it was $14. I did the exact same ride with Premier and it was $57. In my pocket. I’ve also made a video about Lyft vs Uber.

Very informative video. I just started driving with uber about a month ago with their rental car option, and I'm considering changing over to lyft. How you doing these days days? Making a decent profit with lyft? I'm in LA as well and I hear Santa Monica, culver city, Hollywood, and other beach areas are cool locations to drive. Im still trying to figure out a system because I can't keep making just enough to pay the rental.
Sup D.B.! Appreciate you checking out my video. How much do you pay each week or month for the rental?? I've been doing both Uber and Lyft now. I keep both apps on until i get a call and then turn off the other one. My system is that I wake up at around 5AM and then try to start driving from 6-11ish. I can usually make anywhere from $60-100 in that time frame. If I need more money I will go out in the evening and drive some more. But the more hours you drive the more you can make. If I had a rental I would probably drive longer with unlimited mileage. Hope this info helps. If you have any other questions let me know!

Always ask the high school kids how old they are they can’t ride if they under 18 only time they can if they had someone older than they are ! I always ask them to make sure

Kenny Rapadas yeah... sometimes I feel bad because these kids need a ride. But I have been getting less and less in the morning. They even added an option when you cancel the ride to put “a minor” as a reason. I’m sure they got some complaints.

Hi Lataundra! Yeah it can be nerve racking in the beginning but once you do it for a week or two it will become easier. Just gotta drive and be a defensive driver. If you feel tired just take a break and rest. Bring some snacks and water. I believe in you!

So, how's it going so far? I too am planning to drive in Vegas, just have to get the Nevada DL, which is a hassle until you can procure a birth certificate, which can also be a hassle!

corey taylor thanks for checking out my video 😀 yeah you can get a car with uber or lyft but if you do then you will become a slave to them because you will have to drive a certain amount of hours a week to pay for the rental. Just something to think about before you do that ☝️

I was under the impression that Uber or lyft drivers need rideshare insurance , but when I went to a Uber center few days and asked about the sign up process and “do I need rideshare to drive for Uber?”, the operator said No.

Hi Kevin! Thanks for checking out my channel. Technically you do NOT need rideshare insurance to sign up and start driving. But you do need rideshare insurance from your auto insurance company to cover the time you are driving when your uber/lyft app is turned on and when you are going to pick up your passenger. Once someone is in your car Uber/Lyft insurance begins. So if you are driving with your app on and no passenger and want to be covered you will have to pay a little more with your current insurance company. Hopefully this helps you out. Hi. No specific criteria for car models but the car cannot be older than 11-12 years old I believe and that is more for safety purposes. Are you thinking about driving?
Press the exit button in Lyft after you pick them up, and it'll say arrived and then just confirm both you arrived and picked them up.

Atlanta. Man, I have some stories to tell. I went about 40 miles north to Woodstock. I was trying to get away from the hood. I picked up a crack head who didn't smell to good. He was cleaning a rich man house and I had to take him back to the hood. The trip did pay pretty well but he had me worried. He would not seat still. He kept jumping from one side of my truck to the other. I had to row down all my windows to air my truck out.

Hi Betsy. I'm not sure if you can track your driver if you schedule a pickup for a specific time. If you call an uber/lyft and a driver accepts then you can track their movement. Hope this helps!

@@betspath you can call them, but they don't give you a number, there's just a button that says call support or something in the app, when you hit that then I think they call you right back.

Hi Richard. I don't think there is but I would contact them to make sure. Also, before you can drive you have to get a vehicle inspection at a specified location so I'm sure they will let you know as well.

lyft gps is crazy sometimes it will tell you to go to different address, and sometimes rider enter wrong address, this guy wanted to go to airport departure, but lyft gps shows different take air cargo road where commercial trucks acces to airport, and he reported i was driving intoxicated, to get free ride or refound
Yeah that is crazy. Sometimes the riders put in wrong addresses so when they get in the car I always try to confirm with them the address. Be safe out there!
