Right on for mentioning the museum at Stax in Memphis, Tennessee. It’s a must-see museum. Keep doing what you’re doing on here, putting funk down for people.
Rick, I'm developing a serious addiction to your channel which I've recently discovered. It's exactly what I've been searching for. I spent many hours back in the 1970's listening to Bobby Womack, Arthur Adams, Curtis Mayfield, and a whole bunch of other unsung heroes. I've always wondered why there had been such a lack of solo guitar albums by these guys. I'm glad you are giving so many of them the credit they are due. G*d bless you forever, bro'!
Just "discovered" your vids a couple weeks ago and I wanted to thank you for your amazing playing and instruction. There are many good teachers on YT but your chosen niche fills a gaping void for those of us interested in a more soulful style. Probably my favorite channel right now. Keep up the great work. It's much appreciated! Thank you!
Hi, just came across this channel by accident and found it so fresh and invigorating.Ive been playing 40 years and seen hundreds of videos but this is great. Thanks a lot
Another guy that's also a very good and inspiring guitar teacher on UA-cam had MP3's that went with the e-book. Then I could download the book it on my IPad, listening to the 30sec lick and start practicing. It is very good to get the feeling right.... but I'm very thankful for just be able to have a book.. but if you have the time MP3's would be absolutely amazing! :)
Very good, my friend! I already signed up for your channel. One day I will still leave Brazil to meet you personally, at least the will exists here in my heart and the resource for this dream will come and with the permission of God I still realize the dream of playing with you a little. Grace and peace! God bless you! Brazilian hug for you, brother!
another great lesson. I recently watched a YT vid by the great session man Tim Pierce where he talked about playing with a very light touch and you certainly do so. I'm working on that myself.
I love your videos and am so impressed with your teaching. Who would you suggest I listen to ,to get a better grip on gospel guitar? I have been playing for years but now that I am playing with a gospel choir on Sunday mornings I am out of my wheel house ! Any suggestions?
What a great lesson! You play some beautiful single note lines after each pass of chord lick #3. What do you think, when you pick these notes, which scale are they taken from? When you grab this D-minor kind of shape, you don´t use your ringfinger for the B-String, but pinky, right? Would using the ringfinger when practicing imprint some kind of "bad habit"? Thanks and best regards from Germany!
Thanks! For the Lick #3 stuff, those lines are all coming out of an A7 sound, so I may play some stuff with A mixolydian, but mixing in some pentatonic blues stuff too....as for the Dm shape thing, its perfectly fine to do that with the ring finger as well, think I use pinky as that was the way I learned a Dm chord like 100 years ago!
@@TastyGuitarcom Well I do recall clicking on a link (somewhere I have since forgotten) for the Tab and paying up but being surprised that it wasn't immediately sent , electronically. I'm confused. Is this being hard copy mailed out ? i can't imagine at that price.

+Be Mule I'm just going into a little Yamaha ag03 mixer direct in this, clean tone with reverb with the mixer's onboard processor. The tone has more to do with playing fingerstyle and using a pretty light touch.
Do you have a lick-book to sell? You have sooo many good licks that I can't keep track of them all.. 😅 It would be amazing to get a pdf by e-mail to print out and have in the case all the time..

Great stuff (oops, isn’t that a Cornell Dupree band?). Could you demonstrate what you’re doing with your thumb on these licks? Thanks!
thanks! thumb is just hanging over to mute any ringing open strings, but not consciously done really
Thanks-maybe it was the looper I was hearing.
Man! U should teach that licks u did on lick#3 im digging it so melodic man! So tasty i should say 🔥🔥🔥
I wonder in the first lick, how does the g min work , is it because of the pentatonic scale?
mike c Ya. It’ll add to the bluesiness of the groove
this dope
Thank you Ollie

Eric Justen thanks Eric...More stank on the way soon :)
I know this is a random thought but I am struck by what utter violence rap music has been to an immense inheritance of black music and culture
