Again....eureka! Your lessons are incredibly direct, pragmatic, & useful. Never really played funk guitar (but grew up listening & dancing to it). I decided to check it out & your lessons immediately unlocked some awesome aspects fundamental all playing I had nit considered...sweet!
Great lessons man, I've gained alot from your stuff. I've been playing bass for the past few years and made the switch back to guitar and your lessons are a mainstay in my go to guys to get some of my chops back and get back into guitar mode.
That chord you play, you actually don't hear the E note on the D string do you? If I play it, my middle finger automatically covers the 4th fret of the D string, making the chord (x-3-3-3-3-3). Is this normal ??
actually I think my tone kinda sucked on this one lol. I was having some kinda noise issue so I had to use a noise gate which I dont normally use. Otherwise it was just a tc nova system clean sound and a little reverb, direct to the board, that's it. It is important on this funk stuff to make sure you have enough mids so your tone cuts through the mix.

Dude, love your style. Both playing and teaching. Keep up the stellar work.
Thank you!
This is great. Been diving into funk rhythm guitar. I've been hoping that getting the rhythm down would help improve my lead phrasing too.

Can you break down your tone secret for this one?
