    Great stuff.I have 5 Shimano Moochers. Automatic drag when getting spooled and no drag when retrieve! Makes for tight lines!

    Having the right setups makes a huge difference my dad got me new sea gear for Christmas and my birthday and it made it so easy for me to land big fish. I am 8 only 4 stone and I landed a shark yesterday far bigger than me. it is video like this one that really helps anglers fish better keep up the good work

    The float lodge looks awesome. I would love to try and twitch for squid. I never new you could get line counters for reels. Pretty cool. #wantone

      Murphy's lodge is not a float lodge actually, but it is really awesome! 😊 If you get a chance to go up I totally recommend it, they usually have a waiting list for the following season because it gets booked up so far in advance. The squid twitching is more like a lift and drop until one gets stuck on your hook lol... but the exciting part is that you're using a salmon jig so when you see a chinook on the sounder, that's when you're really working that jig and sometimes one would grab it. That's when things get really exciting... Dave got me sold on those counter reels, I'm getting two this fall for lakes. 😂

      @@FishingwithRod Thanks for the correction on the lodge Rod. I'd like to make it my next trip for sure. Usually go to ukee. Was with Chris from hot pursuit this year. Had a great time! The counters would be awesome for the lakes. Especially for trying fish a bit deeper!

    That techmium and Mocher set up is really interesting. I've only used bait cater or spinning set ups. How do u like that rod set up Kitty and Rod?

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  3 роки тому +1

      The Technium rods are pretty bomb proof. It’s a series of rods from Shimano that you can get for mooching, baitcasting, spinning. The Shimano mooching reels are also relatively cheap and low maintenance if you don’t want to invest on a higher end reel like an Islander. Dave has four of these setups in all his ten guide boats and they’re pretty solid season after season.

    Love your vids, and Dave seems a good guy, but his Shimano Pro Team hat, and the fact that every single rod & reel is Shimano, makes him seem prone to being biased. No big deal, but if he's a Shimano-sponsored guide, you should probably disclose that in the vid. Lastly, it wasn't clear what the 14 year old hali spreader bar reel was, as he just mentioned it in passing... Abervil, or something like that? Helpful vid... just shopping for the right hali reel. Thanks!

    It’s weird how different the rod setups are in bc compared to Washington. I don’t think I have ever seen anyone use a mooching rod and reel or a centerpin setup in Washington but I see fishing with rod use them all the time.

    • @FishingwithRod
      @FishingwithRod  3 роки тому +1

    Ive been fishing with the same rods for salmon my whole life since i was 7. I have had no problem with them especially weight wise. Honestly if those rods are to heavy for women grow some muscle or pass the rod. Im not saying that to be mean or to be a jerk.

    • @FishingwithRod

      If it works for you, then great. Men and women come in all sizes, that’s why there are different products to fit different people to make the experience better. And no you’re not mean or being a jerk, just ignorant.

    WA. State produces the best salmon & steelhead rods.
    Debatable, yes. But that’s because other brands copied local rod principles.
    Squid fishing, what the locals title as Squidding, most if not all regulars shy away from conventional rods.

      Fishing with Rod I hear ya. A single brand being labeled as the top and using that as an argument is doomed to fail. Which is why I generalized WA state 😄 covered all basis.
      But if someone doesn’t fish with a known brand/popular local brand, I wouldn’t care. Personal Preference & budget are amongst the drivers of decision.
