I appreciate the focus given to the discussion about the Nenets language, its vulnerability and the preservation efforts. In Brazil, we have many indigenous languages facing the same issues, but unlike the Nenets language they mostly reach the brink of extinction with very little register of their grammar and vocabulary, thus when the people want to bring them back, there is very little to work from. I've heard encouraging stories of language revival from around the world, so I hope Nenets might be another such case.

So it is best to learn Spanish in Spain, Mexico, and parts of Chile and Argentina where accurate pronunciations are still preserved. For example, correct Spanish would be este sábado me voy al mercado para comprar dos kilos de pescado.

Thank you Eli, another interesting and enjoyable bite sized view of another arctic region. I still do my languages, and since I now have two young grandsons to visit in Germany I have to brush up my German as well as Russian. Mrs Bob is flying over soon with a Santa sack for them in a couple of days, while I progress with decorating. I love reindeer meat, probably why I'm not allowed near Santa sacks. I did however go through the moral dilemma of the mixed emotions before I rationalised my decision... and it took a while.

They really help a lot to face the nasty weather conditions. Thank you very much Eli for this fantastic video.🍀💕🪻

Nah they are too close to central Russia. Delivering supplies there shouldn't be a problem. Chukotka is where the real hardcore living comes in. Generally whale hunting is banned but Russia allows to that region to keep its tradition of whale hunting because its a real beech to survive over there.

Yep, this was indeed a pretty sad video. I've been interested in the Finnish language, and by extension I read about other Uralic languages as well, and for me it is just sad to know some of these languages are very likely to disappear in our lifetime. I hope that in your videos you will document more of them, whenever you have the occasion. Thank you for this snippet of their culture and lifestyle!

Aisling, your name means "Dream" ... and as such you're certainly familiar with the slow death of Irish, Gaelic and Welsh! My children studied in a gaelscoil but now they get very little opportunities to keep the language alive, and for commercial reasons, there's very little original material in art, poetry and songs, to keep young people and non-Irish interested!

I hope they do not let their native tongue die. Eli, you have taught me so much over these years I've been watching. I will be eternally grateful.
