The lighting of these places in ancient times baffles me. Go ahead and try to do fine work with a candle or torch. I'm a plumber and work in small dark confined spaces almost daily.. Without a battery powered head light it would be unbelievably difficult nearing impossible for me to do. The Lazer like precision of some of the Egyptian hieroglyphs in Pitch Black conditions deep inside structures with no possibility of outside light. We don't have all the pieces to the puzzle yet.
