If there will be any useful feature available for Crystal Light and not for Crystal, I will never buy Pimax again. In last video, they presented their new enhanced comunication towards the customer and this video again lacks so much info that it annoys more people than it excites.
@@R1jerome So much nicer to have it built into the Pimax software and not need to set it up on a game by game basis. Or is there already a way to have it globally enabled?
All sounds good but since we cannot see any difference in your video, it's hard to know how good it actually is. Maybe some through the lens videos would be useful.
This is going to be awesome, but will there be a 120hz upscale mode? I want to be able to use this on the Crystal Super when it releases at 120hz. Combine this with Foveated Rendering and it will be really good!
And now we have to get this to the original Crystal of course, and after that we can discuss about having this for Wireless 60GHz adapter so we can get 2880x2880 resolution with 120Hz stable, right?
As MrHoodsquirrel asked earlier, for those of us that purchased the original crystal, will we also get this update ? everything seems geared towards to light version while we have been forgotten.
My guess is that they probably use a high quality image interpolation filtering (Like Cubic filtering for example). And/OR an algorithm similar to AMD FSR-1. If it was DLSS or AI they would had said it loud.🤔
Wait a minute... I just tried this and the same resolution looks blurier when upscaled... I'm not talking about the steam VR % I'm talking about the render resolution... I think it's cause you all are downscaling a supersampled image (like all VR games, we supersample to compensate for lens de-warping) and then upscaling it to 2880, but you are losing data when you downscale to 2160x2160, aren't you? Unless you upscale the RENDER resulution before downscaling it, this makes no sense... cause you are going down, up and down again. which is why the un-upscaled resolution looks sharper.
@@TheBaldrickk but a 4090 shouldn’t be reaching those kind of temps. Mine has never even hit 70c before, let alone 80c. It makes me wonder if they were even using a 40 series GPU. Or maybe a very poorly ventilated PC.
This video only shows how terrible its performing, why demonstrate it this way? A 10gb vram card being filled (likely well into shared memory looking at ram usage) Low Render resolution failing to make 90fps in every situation? Nothing is running well, the 2160 native showing 89fps is false as that frametime graph is horrific with constant motion smoothing reprojection happening. No one should be buying a high resolution panel headset to then render at the panel resolution, that looks terrible. No mention of system used, something is very wrong in this setup. I just dont get it? Really not the best way to demonstrate the feature.
If you guys could implement both this and the Almalence eye tracking lens correction in the regular rendering pipeline you'd actually be way ahead of everyone technologically.
Woah, when will the pimax crystal light be made available for everyone like your slogan states? I think it has been "released" since May but I only ever see review demo/engineer units on UA-cam that have been sent specifically to VR review channels. I have seen nothing but delays mentioned by (non affiliate) customers looking for production units and I think a fair chunk of the few that have got it are going through RMA process to acquire a second unit already. It appears your slogan is about as truthful as the rest of your promises made so far. Thanks for playing though!
This isn't true. Plenty of users have received their Crystal Light but we agree that shipping is going slower than we hope. We have just published a video about this last week, going in detail why that is. At the same time, we have shipped a lot of units but obviously I can't publicize any numbers in a UA-cam comment section. Quality control is a lot higher than previous headsets and RMA numbers are also much lower.
this is seriously untrue. I got my crystal light like 1,5 months ago, and I am a normal guy. i already got a replacement device because my first device was broken...

Are the Pimax Crystal super part of the exchange program for the pimax 12 k reality?
Will this be available for the original Pimax Crystal sometime as well?

@@driflysh4597 no one cares what you buy
@driflysh4597 OG Crystal has Dynamic Foveated Rendering which has a much more fps impact than this upscaling.
@@laartwork But does DFR work with all games out of the box? This upscaling should work independent from the game.
For Crystal Light but for the "old" one too, right?
Right? 😅
Right?
Comeon! Doit for the Crystal too😊
Just use Nvidia NIS. It's exactly the same thing
@@R1jerome So much nicer to have it built into the Pimax software and not need to set it up on a game by game basis. Or is there already a way to have it globally enabled?
@@R1jerome NIS scales in a trivial way. quality crashes. Even scaler from Steam VR overlay is better.

Super excited for this, when will it be available?
Coming for the 120fps too? Otherwise what good is that
Will be available to the original Pimax??
Awesome stuff, is the upscaling based on FSR or is it Pimax's own custom solution? Thanks.
Can we have more details ?
Is it Motion Reprojection ?
Can't wait to receive mine, looks very promising :D

Thanks for doing this Pimax. It look even better in my mid range PC.
Does it work similar to fsr ir Dlss

cool music!
Can we the enthusiasts test the beta of this? I would love to test this out and see how well it works in a variety of games.
it's already out.
@@killdano I'm aware and I tried it, but I was unimpressed by the quality of the image with the upscaler .

Give us choice either 35ppd or 57ppd lense for Crytal Super. 35ppd is plenty enough for 3880p resolution so i rather have bigger fov

What GPU is being used for these tests? I’m seeing temps in the high 70s and low 80s…. That seems a bit high.
For Kayak VR at 2880x2880, on cinematic settings? you're going to be pretty much maxing out a 4090.
