@@whatwentwrong4599 i was gonna write this big ass essay about how much i know about eurodance and correcting you because i'm a second gen immigrant who just so happens to live in america, but lemme get straight to my main point: you were paying attention to your superior european mindset to realize that in america EDM wasn't as widely accepted as it was because it was "talentless musicians just pressing buttons that create unnecessary noise". skrill helped expose the mainstream to dubstep in the 2010s which helped give the EDM subgenre itself a spot to be mainstream which it ended up being. literally just a case of old people not liking the young'ns music and eventually it became the norm (rock and roll, heavy metal, rap, etc). no hard feelings tho, plur and all that

Skream being used on episodes of Top Gear, Burial in some fantastic Adam Curtis documentaries, multiple films revolving around the DnB/Jungle and garage rave culture, grime becoming ever more popular. Then "Skrill" and the hyper Americanised capitalistic mindset put a big f you to all the culture and typically the US artist and fans tried to take all the credit for literal decades of leading up to the point of "Skrill". He ruined EDM, he certainly didn't make it any better.

Puppy is it’s own genre, to this day I’m still mind blown by it. That snare is probably one of the best he’s made. It’s literally like the origin of a future bass snare.

He recently made an Instagram post, saying he pulled out of upcoming shows to work on finishing his album(s), so i think we might actually get an album of some sorts sooner than later. Then again, this is Skrillex we’re talking about so soon could be in like 3 Skrillex years, which to us is 6000 years, but who knows.

Very strange to see an officially released remix of an unreleased original, especially *in the original's place on the soundtrack it's from* 🤔
I bought Still Gettin It on iTunes in 2011, it was released under UKF Dubstep. I found it when I was 11 so I'm surprised to hear you didn't know of its existence until the timing of this video. I've bought some other tracks that were released under UKF for other artists so there might be some hidden gems for others in this genre that I might have bought.

You're missing one of the best! Battlefield (even though it was mentioned in the screenshot at 6:57), Skrillex also has a more offical collab with Virtual Riot with a higher chance of release that he had played at Second Sky in 2019, Virtual Riot playing it at pretty much every show since 2020 Also Without Control and One Life which were mentioned towards the end of the video as being "newer IDs" are both fake Skrillex tracks, likely produced by smaller artists that want their work to reach his audience
Oh man I honestly love when people make “fake” skrillex tracks, especially when they’re convincing enough to be shared around. Still remember when Hallywood X’s “Rescue Me” made the rounds as a Skrillex track before they officially released it.
Surprised you didn't include the unreleased Moody Good collab from around 2015 or 2016 (also on MTGFYT Vol. 3). Its absolutely one of his most bonkers tracks, and is a great blend of Skrillex's post-recess dubstep sound (like the red lips and make a move remix) and Moody Good's vocal chops and piercing stabs. Awesome showcase of both of them. Regardless, I loved this vid! Great trip down memory lane, along with discovering IDs I never knew existed. Keep up the great work with these video essays mate, love watching them!

ngl I've always wanted dubstep and underground bass music to go mainstream again but after some thoughts I think it will get ruined just like melodic dubstep so I prefer it to stay like it is for rn.

The Noisia remix was released right at the same time as Wreck Ralph was in theaters. It was on the Noisia channel for a few years but it wasn't until recently that it was mysteriously removed.
actually at 7:27 you're talking about Organ Donor as a sample for Amplifier's intro but that's just because that ID was ripped from a mix and 'Organ Donor' was the track played before, just wanted to clarify that haha also I feel like the Still Getting It VIP sounds more like a demo than a VIP imo love those videos! keep it up!

13:50 - from what I heard/understand, this version of ‘Heads Down’ that’s shown in the video is actually a complete reconstruction of the original that was made by my friend Spitfya, and the original is actually the trappy-style version that has those jagged and repetitive vocal chops. I could be wrong though.
i havent seen this yet, but i bet that zoology is one here, and i think that it could be a very great song with some polishing and restructuring. the idea and sound design for the song is soooo goood!
I hope that you can do a second part, I remember the remix with Dillon Francis for Only Getting Younger by Elliphant, Dillon was playing that remix in a lot of sets like Spring Awakening and EDC in 2014
I understand the issue with copyright strikes etc in doing it, but I wished you did more live reviews of tracks whilst we hear it with you. They were so energetic and fun to watch.
Dogblood - Jurassic is an unreleased tune that slaps. Also, Skrillex & Moody Good - T4/Skriddim/Fuck Em Up is another unreleased track that goes hard. There’s so much more but it makes you wonder how many tracks Skrillex makes a day every day.
Man back in 2013 I downloaded a pirated version of skrillex’s (at the time) discography and it happened to include all of these unreleased songs, and I nearly blew my ears out listening to them all. It felt like I had found some special hidden skrillex songs that nobody else has heard haha. I still love how the Sheffield version of his Levels remix sounded, it’s unfortunate that version never made its way onto the internet besides crappy concert rips. I might have to try remaking it myself now that I’ve been producing for a decade
*DANCING ON MY OWN REMIX* AAAHHH Like Bug Hunt, it's like one of, if not, the the hardest to find in good length/decent quality/actual leak. I remember I found a reeeaalllyyy good remake a year or so ago.
Its quite strange to see that the unreleased San Diego VIP was renamed as Nothing Yet. I also wonder why years later DubstepGutter had to take down the gem.
Funfact about the Disco Rangers track, it’s made for (and paid by) a group of Norwegian high school studens for their end of high school celebration period, a tradition in Norway called «russetid» (roughly transelated to «russ-time/period») where all the students dress up in red or blue pants or overalls and celebrate. In this period from usually 1st of may to 17th of may, Norway’s National Day, the «russ» party hard, drinking, do fun tasks and go on festivals set up for the russ only. Also many of them form groups with their mates and some of them have vans og even busses (hence the Disco Rangers bus) that they drive around in and party all night for the whole russ-period. Painting, decorating and furnishing their vehicles with their own logos and so on. It’s common to have merch and song for the group. So this is the group/bus called Disco Rangers from 2011’s own song for their celebration. Pretty insane to think they got Skrillex to make them a track back then. He’s way too big of an artist now for this to happen today. I can’t even imagine how much they must have paid him for this track. It’s «pretty normal» for russ-groups to pay 700k-1mill Norwegian Kroner for tracks these days, 70k - 101k USD, but still.

What happened with Turmoil is that it was gonna be released as a Sonny and the Bloodmonkeys track, this happened right before My Name is Skrillex dropped, Skrillex became his main project when it was a side hustle only, Atlantic refused to fund Skrillex and wanted to push him as a band instead, it was left out if everything because the band diasolved and the transition to Skrillex happened in the middle of this timelapse, his own remix of Turmoil is actually one of his best tracks ever imo
Ah yes, The Disco Rangers Bus Perfectly sums up the Brostep and Complextro side of Skrillex btw i prefer the second part of the drop which is more melodic
On the opposite end of this spectrum, it makes me think of how weird his release discography is, seeing how "Force" (which was a long-running unreleased track until about a year or two or more ago was released long after "All Is Fair In Love And Brostep", a track referencing both "Force" and "Terror Squad", mostly since everyone already knew about it, I'm sure, but to see a proper release regardless is quite weird post-Terror Squad era.
Hey! I love the video, if you're okay with some technical feedback I'd like to suggest a De-Esser for your vocal chain, you can get free ones (I would suggest the Techivation one) and it should be set and forget. There's quite a lot of harshness when you pronounce your ss's and that'll help immensely with that giving you a smoother, clean sound!
Never a bad day when Nawtystep uploads on the info for EDM! I'm making a C&D Project video on Never Say Die. By the time you read this, most likely it will be on my page.
You should do something on Skrillex, or just any EDM, having original versions of songs. Stuff like Ease My Mind and Try It Out come to mind, for Skrillex specifically. Seemingly these songs get “completed” and “played live.” Then I think Sonny, or the people releasing the song, “deem it not good enough, but close.” Then it’s “re-worked before release.” At least, that’s what I would think, since they’re better in their original state. (In my opinion.)
Definitely a very nice video, but I can’t say I’m not disappointed that you didn’t mention DnB Ting, True Gangsters, Kill Everyone (DnB Drive), or even Tabasco. Good tracks. Still enjoyed the video though.
I’m from Norway and the Disco Rangers 2011 tune was made for a Norwegian high school graduation party bus! In Norway we have a tradition of decking out buses with lasers and massive sound-systems and then give the bus a theme to base the decoration on - the Disco Rangers bus from class of 2011 had a big Skrillex logo on the back of it and that song was a banger here in Norway for a while! Really cool to hear it again I had totally forgotten abt it such a dope track! brings me back…

13:50 - from what I heard/understand, this version of ‘Heads Down’ that’s shown in the video is actually a complete reconstruction of the original that was made by my friend Spitfya, and the original is actually the trappy-style version that has those jagged and repetitive vocal chops. I could be wrong though.
i havent seen this yet, but i bet that zoology is one here, and i think that it could be a very great song with some polishing and restructuring. the idea and sound design for the song is soooo goood!

Dogblood - Jurassic is an unreleased tune that slaps. Also, Skrillex & Moody Good - T4/Skriddim/Fuck Em Up is another unreleased track that goes hard. There’s so much more but it makes you wonder how many tracks Skrillex makes a day every day.

Man back in 2013 I downloaded a pirated version of skrillex’s (at the time) discography and it happened to include all of these unreleased songs, and I nearly blew my ears out listening to them all. It felt like I had found some special hidden skrillex songs that nobody else has heard haha.
I still love how the Sheffield version of his Levels remix sounded, it’s unfortunate that version never made its way onto the internet besides crappy concert rips. I might have to try remaking it myself now that I’ve been producing for a decade

Funfact about the Disco Rangers track, it’s made for (and paid by) a group of Norwegian high school studens for their end of high school celebration period, a tradition in Norway called «russetid» (roughly transelated to «russ-time/period») where all the students dress up in red or blue pants or overalls and celebrate. In this period from usually 1st of may to 17th of may, Norway’s National Day, the «russ» party hard, drinking, do fun tasks and go on festivals set up for the russ only. Also many of them form groups with their mates and some of them have vans og even busses (hence the Disco Rangers bus) that they drive around in and party all night for the whole russ-period. Painting, decorating and furnishing their vehicles with their own logos and so on. It’s common to have merch and song for the group. So this is the group/bus called Disco Rangers from 2011’s own song for their celebration. Pretty insane to think they got Skrillex to make them a track back then. He’s way too big of an artist now for this to happen today. I can’t even imagine how much they must have paid him for this track. It’s «pretty normal» for russ-groups to pay 700k-1mill Norwegian Kroner for tracks these days, 70k - 101k USD, but still.

What happened with Turmoil is that it was gonna be released as a Sonny and the Bloodmonkeys track, this happened right before My Name is Skrillex dropped, Skrillex became his main project when it was a side hustle only, Atlantic refused to fund Skrillex and wanted to push him as a band instead, it was left out if everything because the band diasolved and the transition to Skrillex happened in the middle of this timelapse, his own remix of Turmoil is actually one of his best tracks ever imo

On the opposite end of this spectrum, it makes me think of how weird his release discography is, seeing how "Force" (which was a long-running unreleased track until about a year or two or more ago was released long after "All Is Fair In Love And Brostep", a track referencing both "Force" and "Terror Squad", mostly since everyone already knew about it, I'm sure, but to see a proper release regardless is quite weird post-Terror Squad era.
I'm pretty sure that Heads Down (first dubstep version) was made around 2012, and not 2014.

Hey! I love the video, if you're okay with some technical feedback I'd like to suggest a De-Esser for your vocal chain, you can get free ones (I would suggest the Techivation one) and it should be set and forget. There's quite a lot of harshness when you pronounce your ss's and that'll help immensely with that giving you a smoother, clean sound!
Never a bad day when Nawtystep uploads on the info for EDM! I'm making a C&D Project video on Never Say Die. By the time you read this, most likely it will be on my page.
You should do something on Skrillex, or just any EDM, having original versions of songs.
Stuff like Ease My Mind and Try It Out come to mind, for Skrillex specifically.
Seemingly these songs get “completed” and “played live.” Then I think Sonny, or the people releasing the song, “deem it not good enough, but close.” Then it’s “re-worked before release.”
At least, that’s what I would think, since they’re better in their original state. (In my opinion.)
My personal favorite ID has to be DnB Ting w/ Ragga Twins. Still hoping for an official release even though is very unlikely now.

I’m from Norway and the Disco Rangers 2011 tune was made for a Norwegian high school graduation party bus! In Norway we have a tradition of decking out buses with lasers and massive sound-systems and then give the bus a theme to base the decoration on - the Disco Rangers bus from class of 2011 had a big Skrillex logo on the back of it and that song was a banger here in Norway for a while! Really cool to hear it again I had totally forgotten abt it such a dope track! brings me back…
