      Havent had much interest expressed in this series and to be honest i kinda lost interest while waiting on parts which take for ever these days, not sure at this point if i will continue.
      I did buy a sweet 1986 chevy k20 with only 186xxx kms on it. Will definitely be working on that over the next few months!
      Thanks for your interest in the xtreme 40 project, it may not be over yet.

    Looking good Ron, project is coming along nicely! I like the way you explain your thought processes as you’re designing and fabricating, looks like it was a bit of a challenge to get the geometry and clearances right, nice work! Also got a sticker from you in the mail so thanks for that!

      Thanks Man! It sure seems to be going slower than id like, but we are making progress. Some of the stuff is only lightly welded or tacked incase i need to make changes yet.
      Once the drive train is in, ill know for sure about my clearances.
      Ive been thinking of changing my video formats lately with a littlr more talking and explaining and less showing stuff that doesnt really need to be seen. Hopefully it shows in this video.

    Fellow Canadian here, I'm a Welder/Fabricator seems like we have similar interests. I Have a few projects of my own, an older Bronco, 1 ton axle conversion, I plan on 4 linking the rear on, bit undecided on how I want to deal with the front, there just isn't much room up front for moving parts, once you start modifying stuff and trying to keep it as functional as possible. Lots of trial and error involved and I like that you show the issues you had and solutions you came up with. Would have liked to see you continue on with the project, but understand you have to put your time where it makes most sense. I will say this though I have watched alot of videos on different suspensions and like your format of practical problem solving. I read in one of the other comments how you said, how it seemed there wasn't much interest in the series. The amount of views you get, isn't indicative of the quality of your content, it has alot more to do, these days with how fickle the UA-cam algorithm is. I have a channel of my own, (under a different account name, not 4x4 related) and know firsthand how hard it is to get views... no matter how good the content is. Analytics show that when UA-cam reccomended my content, people watch it, over 20% click through rate and good retention... its just UA-cam for whatever reason just doesn't offer up the content very often. I guess what I am trying to say is, the secret to cracking the algorithm is out there... maybe like setting up axles it requires a bit more trial and error to decode, exactly what it wants. Anyway, best of luck in the future.

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Ahh yes the ole algorithm, sure is stupid..lol
      Oh well it is what it is, the fj was bound to be cool, but the reality is i dont go wheeling much anymore and i have entirely to many hobbies and projects so some of them had to go.
      I picked up a nice square body that im gonna build into a hunting/ go to town to get ice cream rig..lol
      I kept the 1 tons from the fj and they are going in the square, then build the 400sbc that ive been hoarding for years. Should be a pretty sweet truck when its done and way more practical than a 4 linked crawler for the stuff i do around here.
      Thanks for watching, i hope to get more videos out in the new year after my shoulder heals up from the tear.

      @@FabbinAdventures Yeah, sometimes I question my sanity, when it comes to the practicality of a 600 hp, 4 linked off road beast running on 42's... The new project sounds cool, those square bodies are getting more rare all the time. Always had a soft spot for the short box stepsides, but those were rare even 20 years ago... can't remember last time I saw one of those. 400 SBC is a good choice, hard to go wrong with that plant.

    • @FabbinAdventures
      @FabbinAdventures  Рік тому +1

      Yeah this square is in pretty good shape for 1986 k20 with only 168,000 original km.
      Floor boards are rust free which is unusual, and only a little rust in the typical places.
      The 350 in it runs great, but the 400 when im done will be awesome!

  • @tjtrent2351
    @tjtrent2351 3 роки тому

    Hey, killer job on those brackets and fit-up. The first time doing an axle swap it took me three trys to get my angles correct for the triangulated four link. Fit the 8.8 up and in with the brackets tacked, loosely put the links in, put a little weight on, and about shoved my pinion in the concrete. I didn’t take in to account the sprung weight of my rig. Kept jacking my pinion angle up resulting in a JWA (joint working angle$ of 8 degrees which was horrendous. Really learned a lot that build. Go figure, ten years later I’d be a full time Diesel Technology Professor at a large University in the western U.S. Looking back at first dipping my toes in to fabricobbling makes me laugh today, so many sins back then lol. Excited to keep checking out your vids. Great content.

      Its been a long time waiting, took nearly a year for the 14" bilstein coil overs to show up. It kinda took the "wind out of my sails" on the project. I actually put it up for sale but no serious bites on it.
      In the mean time i finally got a concrete floor poured in the shop this spring, so im getting the shop all set up permanently and been working on a belt grinder project the last few days.
