Great video! Take a break guys! I am 27 and have been smoking daily since 18. Everytime I take a break for a couple months, the overall quality of my life increases. Sleep, conversations, and motivation is much much better. Your body holds thc for as long as 90 days. But within a couple of weeks of not smoking the brain fogginess goes away. I get that it’s very difficult to quit or take a break, but it is most definitely necessary. Discipline yourself. Find a hobby like going to the gym, or something healthy along those lines. I hope this helps some of you(:
How did you deal with the sleeplessness? I can't go more than a night or two before it starts feeling like I've been staying up all night, getting no rest
@@eitansoskin6990 Its one of the toughest parts man. Depending on your tolerance and usage, can take anywhere from 7-14 days (in my experience) of restless nights. I promise you thought that first night over the hump is special 🙏
This video is 100% accurate. If I quit THC for a week or two my dreams come rushing back explosively. It's incredible how lucid and frequent they become every single night for almost a month straight.
I’ve been a heavy THC smoker for about 20 years. A few years ago, I moved to Texas and took a break from smoking. I almost never dream normally, in Texas however, I was dreaming, like A LOT, and my brain decided it wanted to relive my most painful memories while I dreamt. After a little under a year, I moved away, started smoking again and almost completely stopped dreaming This is the first time I have ever heard of a study backing my personal experience. Thank you, ASAP.
We are starting to understand how weed affects REM sleep and its not pretty. I was a (former) weed addict and i worked in the industry in the netherlands and i can tell you it fucks up your sleep. Smoking daily Is defo very unhealthy and stopping smoking weed every day was the best thing i ever did. I worked in a coffeeshop in the netherlands and it opened my eyes how my customers where pretty much junkies, it made me quit and experience the crazy dreams your talking about. Smoking weed is fine but every day for years is very very bad for you.
Yes, when I smoke I don't dream but sometimes as early as 1 - 2 days of not smoking, I'll have a visible dream which I almost never do otherwise. I'm not sure if I stop permanently if I'll be able to dream as normal or if I'm simply dreaming as an effect of stopping smoking. Video also says that it makes you have poor sleep, well 15+ years of mostly daily use with some breaks in between of varying lengths, I am more rested than most but the key is I actually sleep the recommended amount of hours, or around that ball park of 8 hours. 7 - 8 hours is what I usually get in. But usually one day a week I sleep in like 10 - 12 hours as well, and I've basically always done it all my life. I wake up feeling rested every morning, I don't drink or need coffee or energy drinks, and meanwhile everyone else seems to need caffeine/coffee/energy drinks to wake up in the morning. I'd say my sleep is just fine, thanks.
I smoked nearly daily for 2 years and I’m currently on day 7 and I feel fine, not much irritation or loss of appetite etc. but my question is if I smoke a gram tomorrow then wait another week and smoke again will this be fine and will I still feel better even though thc isn’t eliminated completely ? Thanks.
Probably you don't want to hear this, or even believe it. If your mind relives your most painful memories it's because is showing you what you need to heal. You've been numbing your mind with weed. Our unconscious mind take care of our dreams, and in our dreams there are messages from ourselves to ourselves to move forward, to be better, to heal. Pay attention to yourself and you'll live a fuller life.
you are a smart man for getting rid of those dangerous medicines and over th counter drugs. i only use marijuana for pain. havent used meds in over 10yrs
@@Thanoswasright_I found the same thing. Quetiapine saved my life, it’s a miracle drug. But everyone is different and reacts different ways to different chemicals.
@@Thanoswasright_ Quetiapine doesn’t help he fall asleep, it just makes he stay asleep if u get what I mean. Yeah, you do feel tired, but you ain’t get rid of the flashbacks
As someone who suffers from insomnia and almost daily nightmares when I finally fall asleep, THC helps me so much. I sleep and don't have any nightmares. I do develop a tolerance, which is why I usually take a 10 day break every month or so. For me personally, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks. I've heard from veterans who suffer from night terrors that THC is an incredible solution for them, as well.
I posted this in the comments but in case you missed it and to add another vet success story to your book: I'm a retired Army NCO with severe PTSD, anxiety, depression, TBI, insomnia, and pain from getting blown up in Iraq. THC has pretty much fixed every problem and gotten me off some high dose pharmaceuticals, especially opioids.
I use to work with addict and people don't talk about how hard it is to get off weed. People need to talk about this. Because if you use it everyday to sleep . Once you don't have it it makes everything worse including depression, ptsd and mood swings
I quit smoking weed and slept better after about a month. Lost a lot of weight and had a ton more energy. My stress was reduced which as well I always thought it was helping with it. If you have been smoking for years and want to quit cut back and only do it on weekends, then once a week then every other. I found was the best way to stop.
I started weed coincidentally right when the pandemic started and I've been a daily user since then, so over 3 years. It completely solved my insomnia and anxiety, but increased my experience of negative emotions in relation to society (I'm fine when I'm by myself). So it's one problem or the other, it seems. I'm taking a week off of work and life to try to quit for awhile. Moderation seems like the best idea, but my addictive personality has made this impossible up to this point. It's hard to give AF as you get older.
@BaconKFilms Yep same here. I become overly aware of the way words are leaving my mouth, and my social anxiety increases substantially because I feel like I need to sound and appear totally sober no matter what.
@@Hasaki_YTI experience a very similar phenomenon. Even when around people who I am very comfortable with, even smoke with often, I find myself extremely judgmental of mine and others mannerisms, personality, and word choice(which I normally couldn’t care less about). This makes me very anxious to chip into conversation. Also I f with the profile pic 😊
Just turned 64 and have been a daily user of cannabis since the age of 13, I quit using after a major heart attack a year ago and went thru some insomnia issues after quitting. That was basically the only issue I was having but even now I don’t sleep the greatest but I do dream a lot so I do agree with a lot of the information this video provides. I have started to smoke every other day right before bedtime and the relaxation it provides is unmatched by anything else I have tried , I know it may make me sound like a stoner but I feel more in touch with nature and overall a better and more compassionate person and I truly believe it helps my heart relax like any other muscle in my body. I have found that if I smoke every night I do become lethargic during the day so every other night seems to work the best for me I do not consume any alcohol and never have and now believe everything in moderation.
I know what you mean by being more connected to nature and yourself. I also feel super connected to my body when I smoke and workout. Oh it’s theee best
You're exactly correct about dreams. When I regularly use, my dreams stop. I actually started a tolerance break last weekend and my dreams started to come back a couple nights ago. Happens every time like clockwork.
My sleep has drastically improved since I quit smoking. Dreams are back and I have verifiable proof using Apple Watch with the the sleep function that measures my sleep. It’s undeniable
Started smoking cannabis daily at 18. Tried repeatedly to quit during the 40+ years of daily use but couldn’t get past the withdrawal symptoms for more than a few weeks. At 64 now and have stuck it out cold turkey for 90 days and counting. Best I’ve ever felt in years. Dreaming again and sleep cycle has increased to 7+ hours a night. Cannabis helped during the rough patches but glad to be able to handle it on my “own”. Newly subscribed. Thanks for the great content.
Congradulations. I've been there and done that, not so successfully. After more than 6 weeks abstinence, I've never been able to get back to normal sleep. I'll get no better than 5 maybe 6 hours of sleep.
I smoked (almost) every day all day with few exceptions since I was 16. I am 22 now. I quit in August, now it is mid-October 2023. I have never felt better. It was ruining my REM sleep, my ability to be clear, focused, I was anxious, and I never was fulfilled with life other than wanting to smoke. Best decision I’ve ever made 😊
I quit 3 days ago. Its been one of the hardest things I have ever done. Dealing with all of the same issues and your comment gave me hope dude. Thanks.
@@HazMattReacts Take it from me: in about a month’s time you are going to feel like a normal human being again. After being a daily smoker for over 3 years I quit a couple months ago for my pregnancy, and I was actually convinced my hormones were causing my dreams because I had never had so many dreams that I could remember so vividly in my life. Really interesting to learn this is the actual reason
Part of the reason I smoke before I sleep is so I don't have these dreams and sleep well. I see demons when I close my eyes so I don't have dreams, I have nightmares. I'll stay high and happy :)
I started using edibles to sleep about a year ago, always the same 10 mg dose. The longest break I've taken was a week. I feel better rested and still dream like I did before I consumed. I fall asleep faster. What used to take me 3-4 hours to shut off my brain now takes 30 minutes. I take a few days off if I don't have work, but it has helped when the thoughts won't be quiet and when I come home in pain from work.
Same here. I take 5mg about 1-2 hours before going to bed. I now fall asleep almost immediately and sleep VERY well. I have more energy and more refreshed than ever before. The only other thing that ever helped me get to sleep was alcohol. But that always left me "fuzzy headed" when I woke up. Not to mention making me need to get up to empty my bladder in the middle of the night.
Well something videos like these always tend to ignore is that every persons body chemistry is different, so it’d make sense some people react differently to different substances.
@@blacknoir606 they also ignore how much they take, these comments are reporting daily doeses of 5m 10mg 20mgs thats SOOOO LOW i neeed least 600mg thc+ to feel high otherwise i feel 100% nothing. These people are taking healthy very small doses. Very little problems will happen with that little being consumed. MFs are so use to taking dabs giant edibles and chain smoking all day. Its so silly to compare those users to these people using small amounts to get a good nights rest. True peoples bodys are diffrent but in terms of dose some get use to high doses while some still need just a lil bit to feel such a strong effect.

Goodluck and much love to all those who commented their stories, and to those who are on the same journey as me. Stay up
as a junior in college now, i just wanted to come on and comment abt the impact you guys have had on me!! ive been watching you since i was a preteen, and your work interested me so much, that it sparked an interest in pursuing psychology (now in college i study cognitive science). coming from a public education system that didnt ever explore science more broadly into this field, you both were an integral part in that discovery of my passion. love yall
you're so right, They really need to teach more about it in school, I'm so fascinated by psychology and the education they give on it in school is little to nothing. I've gotten more info on UA-cam than anything they teach me in school.
My cognitive psych prof was the most effective one I ha (go figure). When I took the GRE subject test (so many years ago), I definitely knew the cognitive psych material more than any other. In high school, I was able to take one semester of basic psychology and loved it (enough to study it for years and go into it professionally).
I was diagnosed with Major Depressive disorder, moderate anxiety, and PTSD. I'll take the weed side effects over the dozens of other pills and stuff I used to have take with significantly worse side effects. With this, losing dreams, specifically my constant nightmares has been the best effect for me. I no longer only get a couple hours of sleep at most because I don't dream and therefore don't have nightmares waking me in a panic multiple times every night. I'm significantly happier, less angry, and more energized the next morning than I was literally my entire life until I started using.
Same for me the lack of dreams is great when you have constant nightmares reliving the worst moments of your life though I just assumed the fatigue was from other compounded issues.
Try microdosing psilocybin. I microdosed about 4 years ago for only three and a half months and it totally cured my PTSD and the resulting anxiety and depression. It is in stage 3 human trials right now
Nobody is saying the risk-reward isn't worth it for many people. It's just a note of caution. Especially for those that have no chronic issues and just use it to get high

Psychedelics are just an exceptional mental health breakthrough. It's quite fascinating how effective they are against depression and anxiety. Saved my life.
Can you help with the reliable source I would really appreciate it. Many people talk about mushrooms and psychedelics but nobody talks about where to get them. Very hard to get a reliable source here in Australia. Really need!
Yes, dr.sporesss. I have the same experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD and addiction and Mushrooms definitely made a huge huge difference to why am clean today.
I wish they were readily available in my place. Microdosing was my next plan of care for my husband. He is 59 & has so many mental health issues plus probable CTE & a TBI that left him in a coma 8 days. It's too late now I had to get a TPO as he's 6'6 300+ pound homicidal maniac. He's constantly talking about killing someone. He's violent. Anyone reading this Familiar w/ BPD know if it is common for an obsession with violence.
I have PTSD and in addition to that I was subjected to heavy psychological abuse over a long duration of time. I smoked cannabis to help me cope but I never actually got over it until I stopped smoking and was able to get some good REM sleep and my dreams returned to me. Today I feel much more healthy and psychologically stable.

I've had chronic insomnia my entire life. It's pretty bad at its worst I've been up longer than 48 hours. I started using pot as a sleep aid a while back. I really limit the use. 1 good pull off a bowl before bed, only on nights before I need to get up and be functional at a set time in the morning. It's worked a charm for me, I haven't had any need to up the dosage for the same effect, or really noticed any change in dreaming. It's worked better than anything else I've tried. As with all things, your mileage may vary.
I started doing drugs since my teenage, got addicted to heroin. Spent my whole life fighting heroin addiction. I suffered severe depression and mental disorder. Heroin addiction actually destroyed my life. Not until my wife recommended me to psilocybin mushrooms treatment. Psilocybin treatment saved my life honestly. 6 years totally clean. Never thought I would be saying this about mushrooms.
Hey mates! Can you help with the source? I suffer severe anxiety, panic and depression and I usually take prescription medicine, but they don't always help. Where can I find those psilocybin mushrooms? I'm really interested in treating my mental health without Rxs. I live in Australia don't know much about these. I'm so glad they helped you. I can't wait to get them too. Really need a reliable source 🙏
Congrats! I'm really happy for you that your wife decided to help you. I always admire those who beat their addiction. Knowing it's possible to fix your life knowing there's people out there that have done what I thought was impossible gives me hope I will make it through as well. Those who share their experiences don't know how much it helps when you're about to give up, it gives you the strength knowing somone who actully know what it's like to go through this tell you it's possible, it's not the same somone telling you you can do it when they have no idea what it's like, but hearing somone who knows what it's like that helps a lot since you understand it firsthand and made it out gives so much hope. so thanks for sharing.
Yes he's Dr.alishrooms.Shrooms to me is a natrual healer. I know a guy who has used mushrooms in the same way and they have really helped him. mah dudes have safe trips all.
As a neurodivergent person, I never particularly enjoyed my dreams as they were always incredibly intense, for better or worse. Weed allowed me to experience dreamless sleep for the first time in my life, and that was the most well rested I'd ever felt up to that point. Taking tolerance breaks brings me right back to where I was prior to that, and reminds me why I took up the habit in the first place.
I actually notice way more vivid dreams when I use it personally. I have been using to help me sleep for almost a year and I wake feeling rested and am able to fall asleep much faster than I have my whole life
I thought this was the norm! I also have way longer and more vivid dreams. I wouldn't be surprised if the fact that I don't smoke as much as I assume others do has something to do with it.
Right now I am on a 100 day tolerance break and I’m on day 75. I can vouch that insomnia does come with the early days of withdrawal. It took about two weeks for my sleep schedule to get back to normal. Then came the very vivid dreams but I can say better sleep is not really a thing I experienced myself. I’ve gotta about the same amount of rest and had the same amount of energy throughout my days but I can say cannabis is a helping tool to go to sleep faster and I will pick back up on day 100 to see the new feelings I might experience from taking this long break.
Was in the military for 7yrs. Got out couldn’t sleep, wake up from anxiety and almost throwing up from it. Happened every night. I tried cbd and thc, both give me the best sleep of my life. Stopped for the last 2 months for employment- right back to horrible sleep. Had zero positives not taking cbd or thc. When I tried them I quickly gained a high tolerance for cbd and tried the thc, never really got a tolerance for that.
lol thc def makes a good sleep aid, thats a positive. But the effects can carry over into the next day even when u are not "high" you are still affected in terms of focus, mood, energy level, motivation. Not all good or bad. Most medicines have side effects. You just have to understand the pros/cons and make the best decision for you.
This was an excellent video and right on the money, although I was surprised you didn’t go into a little more detail about the differences between Indica and sativa strains. I have taken Indica for sleep for many years now and it has been a lifesaver! But I do need to take a break every once in a while due to increased tolerance, and those brakes are never fun.
@@hleifruthr4529everything is so hybridized now days there isn’t much of a difference. Ultimately it comes down to what terps it has and how they affect each individual.
as someone with ptsd and major depressive disorder I found that I clinged to marijuna and was high all day for about a year. I found that proper therapy and medication works better for not only sleep but also overall quality of life. It's easier to find weed than it is to find help, I know, but its so much more worth it brothers and sisters.
I find a combination works. Thc treats symptoms well but the underlying causes of your trauma MUST BE addressed to get control of your anxiety. Then you can get high for fun 😂❤🎉
Proper therapy? Absolutely Yes Medication? You're often playing the same game as cannabis, trading relief for side affects. Pharmaceuticals can be better tailored and are more consistent so sometimes it is easier to find one that works for the individual, but cannabis is slowly getting better in that reguard with legalisation and research. The SSRIs i have tried make me buzz, the sleep medications have deadly effects long term, and as much as valium works great for me with minimal side effects I'd rather become dependant on cannabis than a benzo, even if it is one of the safest ones.
This 100% fits with my experience. I'm a lifelong insomniac - I have memories of my struggle with sleep going back as early as 4-5 years old. It's well and truly part of my biology. The first time I tried THC gummies as a sleep aid, I was delighted with the effects. I have since tried THC & CBD gummies and found them to be even better. But from the very beginning, I've held them back for emergency use during the worst of my insomnia. For the regular day to day, I rely on my old standbys of melatonin and behavior therapy. I had wanted to start slowly out of an abundance of caution (and cost), but quickly found that while it was a tremendous help, it always felt like it wasn't a good idea to use it all the time, so I've kept it to emergencies only, when my insomnia gets really bad. I feel like this video supports all of my personal conclusions, so I feel even better about continuing to use it exactly as I have been. (Until and unless additional research comes out to change my perspective on it.)
I definitely agree. I haven't put it to practice yet because I just had the idea watching this video but you're already experienced in what I want to try and have success with it so that gives me hope. I feel the same, that keeping it moderate will be the best thing. Now for the hard part for me...keeping the discipline to not over do it🤦🏿♂️
My friend may I ask which brand of melatonin works for you? And also what time do you take it? I think I've noticed taking melatonin 2 hours before bed makes me drowsy but I'm not too certain.
I’m doing sober October after 15 years of daily smoking. This explains having a hard time falling asleep and why my dreams have been so wild. Extremely helpful video!
@@2TonTuna I basically didn't dream or never recalled dreams when getting high. Once you stop you start dreaming more and remember a lot more about your dreams upon waking. If you have nightmares, I suggest smoking weed to end them.
Word of encouragement from someone that is studying about addictions (in medicine), know that you will most likely relapse and it might feel like shit but you're not losing progress. Quiting cold turkey is a myth and rarely works, but if you can manage to slowly take less and less until you get to a point where you're happy then you've recovered. Recovery is something you define and it is a continous process. I believe you can do it. Good Luck!
I have been trying to stop smoking weed for literal years and have had insomnia for ages also! I am trying to learn more facts to help me finally kick the habit so thank you for this content!
Love the balanced approach to your explanation! As a chronic smoker I’m still working on my relationship with cannabis 😅 This video was super helpful, and I’ll definitely be smoking smaller amounts, less frequently and taking an extended break eventually
It was so balanced it contradicted itself. Early in the video it says that smoking cannabis reduced insomnia but later goes on to say ithat regular users have increased insomnia.
Thank you!! Month sober from weed so I love learning about the benefits and my REM sleep and dreams have been crazy! So vivid I’m so thankful to heal from this addiction

@@Chrisreyes999yeah you smoked for 5 years, 60 days won’t just change it, THC stays in the body for 90 days, it can talk almost half a year to even see effectiveness
Rebound insomnia is the main reason I haven't quit yet. I've struggled with my sleep for a very long time and a lot of this makes sense as to why with regards to cannabis and cannabis use. Thanks for this!
You gotta suck it up! Get non habit forming sleeping pills for the 1st few days. Workout during the day and drink warm milk at night. Only couple of days...you can't keep being reliant on it
I'm 29, regularly smoked since I was 21. The largest negative impact daily THC use has had on me is my sleep. I usually sleep 4-5 hours, I can't sleep longer. I don't have dreams, none that I can remember. When I have to quit for a drug test, I'm shocked at how vivid and real my dreams are, and how much I sleep - also how much better I feel over all. I continually question whether getting high every day is worth it, because I am constantly some degree of exhausted.
Try D8 THC. 😁 In my experience, it has more mood benefits than standard THC. I even dream regularly while on it. 😁 For everyday users, I highly recommend D8 THC. 💯👍🏾
As a Veteran, turning to cannabis for my depression and anxiety has been great as I just did not like SSRI’s and the list of effects it had on me personally. I never personally struggled with sleep so this was never an issue for me, but I do agree a tolerance break is good. I think we often also overlook other contributing factors that affect sleep like stress, alcohol, caffeine consumption, diet, level of fitness, etc that also play a role. I’m also weary of studies conducted in the US due to its aggressive lobbying by pharmaceutical companies that are trying to create paranoia around Marijuana. Always look for biases in studies and where they are getting their funding from. Has the research been corroborated and by who? Etc. not saying Marijuana is without faults, but misinformation is everywhere. Bottom line enjoy it responsibly, know your medical history and how it personally affects you.
I took a course on Cannabis Research on Coursera and learned that it is incredibly difficult to conduct scientific studies on the effects of Cannabis in the US because of the Controlled Substance Act of 1972. Marijuana is a schedule 1 drug, along with the most dangerous and controlled substances of all like heroin. By contrast, Fetanyl is schedule 2. It's a shame because Cannabis is so widely used and we don't know very much about the effects on humans, good or bad.
@@mwaltripit’s truly a disservice to those that can greatly benefit from it. But I truly believe Big Pharma is throwing roadblocks or just trying to stall as long as possible.

Great video. I’ve actually been through this many times over my 15 years of smoking. I’ve taken breaks for large periods of time and can say for certain that being sober improves my sleep, and I have more energy throughout the day.
Heavy smoker since 17, with some breaks here and there. Largest was 50 days or so. I’m 8 days sober and threw everything away. Had my first intensely crazy nightmare last night. Let’s go!!! I’m 36 now
36? Youngblood! Follow what makes you feel best! No need to try and rationalize it with a number. You're very young. Your opinion was obviously different half your life ago, don't stand on a pedestal at 36 with answers you don't actually know. I wish you the best on your way to 72!
I genuinely love the fact that cannabis messes with how often you dream. I pretty consistently have bad dreams, specifically about being chased, so not dealing with that is really nice. Yes, the sleep might be "worse" on average, but compared to how rested I'd feel after a nightmare I'll take the weed any day.
That's a point i haven't even considered about cannabis. Thanks for pointing that out! As nightmares are one of the key symptoms of ptsd, that explains why so many vets and traumatized people use it
Exactly, it is such a relief for people who have nightmares! However, this is a quick fix and in the long term it seems to be more effective to go to therapy
same!! im sometimes terrified of my nightmares, they can ruin my entire day and the paraylzing anxiety before bed doesnt help. but thc fixes both problems so im happy :)
I am so glad I stumbled on this video. I've been currently suffering a lot of sleep issues lately. And I'm also a chronic smoker.. This has been very helpful. Thank you
I’ve quite too recently after using daily for almost 4 years and after the first week of troubled sleep it gets much easier to fall asleep and stay asleep too again, and I already notice I have better memory and can do any task more clearly and efficiently too. I love cannabis but the long term affects are not worth it

i’ve suffered from extreme insomnia for as long as i can remember, weed definitely helped for a bit but i don’t think it’s working as well anymore so i’ll try to take a tolerance break, but it’s pretty hard to quit. i love dreaming and the fact that i haven’t dreamt in a while is quite sad, but knowing that this will allow me to have crazy dreams again is comforting

I've been using thc for well over a decade now, with random breaks when i was broke. this video echos a lot of what i hear about weed online, and yet is entirely the opposite of my experience. even now, after literally daily use for years, i still have wild and crazy vivid dreams. i lucid dream very regularly, at least once a week on average. i can recall and retell almost 100% of the details from each dream i have, and they're usually CRAZY. when i stop smoking i tend to go back to having insomnia.
One of the reasons I legit claim why I smoke is to prevent dreams. I never dream, or perhaps I don't remember, when I'm high and I hate my dreams so I prefer it
I quit 3 weeks ago, and for the past week Ive been having WILD vivid dreams, it had been years since I had dreamt like that. Also had been smoking for more than a decade prior to this. I used to dream, but nothing like they are now. Sometimes it feels like I close my eyes to sleep and I just land on another planet lol. Like you said everyone is different.
I am currently on day 5 of my week THC break, I wanted to take a brake because my tolerance was so high that weed no longer had the same kick, the first few days it was hard for me to get to sleep so I would stay awake for 19-20 hours, the last 2 days I have been sleeping about 8 hours but like you mentioned I have been having some CRAZY dreams. I also feel so much more mentally sharp. One thing I have noticed though is I now feel more agitated at small things, but not in a horrible way, mundane things that I overlook before bother me and I have to do them now.
If you feel mentally more sharp, why don't you consume weed in quantities that do not affect your mental performance and life goals long-term? For example, a joint once a week with friends at a party or once a month.
@@erf2324 I do plan on cutting back some to keep the mental sharpness, weed hasnt become an obstacle to me in other areas of my life I honestly wanted to take a break so it could feel more potent again.
@@calvinluzano9161 I have been a daily user for like 2 years and taking breaks or not smoking at all doesn't really bother me. Not saying that weed can't become addictive, if it ever become an obstacle that interfered with other areas of my life I would stop.
As a retired Army SNCO (OK) who suffered from PTSD, anxiety and pain from a prolapsed disc, my doctor prescribed me opioids for years. When I retired medical cannabis finally became available I jumped at the chance. I haven't looked back since. I could finally sleep through the night without my reoccurring nightmares and can now get through the day without pain or spasms.
Great video! I looove the plant and I’d say I’m a big 420 advocate but I’ve found that after 1.5 years of smoking every night, I’ve seen an increase of sleep disturbances, especially waking up in the middle of the night with anxiety. I’ve been off weed for about 3 weeks now and I feel MUCH more peace of mind & haven’t been waking up in the middle of the night as often! I love your opinion at the end that taking breaks is super needed but it doesn’t mean we should never smoke it ever again. Thanks for the info- it’s great to know moving forward! Blessings!🍃💚
See the thing is...when you start smoking again it'll just go back to the same thing. Your brain has been stretched to smoke how you used beforenyou quit. It's why relapses go hard.
my sleep is about 6hrs when i'm not working nights, then it drops to 3-4 whether sober or not. i started waking up super early after i started, but it's hard to correlate as it coincided again with working nights. i thought i had lots of energy when i used to wake up with that 'hangover', but when i detox for 5+ days, i REALLY feel the difference in "quality" of sleep
I have CPTSD and several years ago had a terrible spike of insomnia where I was only sleeping 2 or 3 hours a night lasting for 6 months. Tried everything minus prescription meds and nothing noticeably changed until my therapist helped me get on medical marijuana. I used it for my anxiety, depression, and mostly insomnia for a couple of years and it made a HUGE difference. I still struggle at times, but I truly feel it retrained my brain on how to sleep. I think for me it was fantastic for the accute issue and for a relatively short time while avoiding prescription meds that can be far worse from what I see and understand.
I’ve been smoking since I was 14, I haven’t had a dream in a few years and I’m extremely tired, anxious, paranoid and depressed every second. I never realized that what I was using to calm those feelings was what was amplifying them in the first place, this video opened my eyes and has put a spark in me to try to quit daily use (especially before bed). Although I know those feelings aren’t caused by the thc, I feel like I might be able to think through them more clearly if I’m not constantly frying my brain like I have been for years.
Yeah man doing it that young was a bad idea your brain really aint developed at that point and it messes up your neural pathways! Good luck man see a doctor if you can....
One thing to help with the insomnia after quitting for the first week or so is try taking sleep aids, they're cheap to get at the store and for me almost completely mitigated the insomnia from quitting. It made it much better, but then you have to quit completely to have a genuiune effect.
Used to smoke everyday for over 10 years. Quit cold Turkey two years ago. This video was extremely accurate in describing my experience with THC. Definitely have much more energy and focus now than when I was using.
I'm struggling to quit. I quit cocaine cold turkey over a decade ago. Went to rehab over two years ago, & haven't drank since, & will kill myself before I go back. Marijuana is killing me, & so much more insidious than the others. It has ruined my mind, & my body. Less than 24 hours without a bong, & I'm sweating profusely. I can't do anything without it, can barely leave my house. Unless it is to upcure it of course. I have no appetite, with chronic stomach and chest pains. I feel nauseous with or without it. Devil's lettuce, for sure!!!!!
Bro I took my medication and stopped smoking after more than 6 years, for more than 2 months, i started having crazy dreams, I super panicked and went back but getting this info and knowing what’s going on, am now confident of stopping and going through the pain
Such a fascinating video, would love to see more on similar topics. I actually find my dreams are WAY longer and more vivid when I go to sleep high, but it's still cool to learn the science, rather than just having my personal experience to go on.
For someone who has tried every sleeping pill known to the world. Has insomnia and night terrors, this is the only thing that works. I always wondered why my dreams were suppressed. Thank you for the information!
This is wild, I just decided yesterday that would take a break because I noticed I was not feeling as mentally elastic as I once was. Glad to see the science backs that up!
I stopped for this reason (and I was spending way to much) pleased to report it worked great and after my body settled out I’ve not gone back to smoking it daily, I keep it for special occasions etc (I don’t drink so you need one vice right lol). Good luck and peace.
@@poppachoppa8956 it’s not going to work for everyone and I would support any choice people make, I’m a firm believer in you do you (just don’t hurt yourself). I have no complaints, I have a clear mind and a smoke to look forward to on my birthday, Christmas and new year and the extra money I’ve saved is a bonus.
great video! I love the little illustrations. I recently switched to using CBN and CBD products together to help me sleep , with minimal or no THC and that has really been a game changer for my chronic insomnia.
After using pretty heavily for a few years to try and cope with mental illness, I did a slow taper off last year and have not smoked at all in 2023. Even though I slowly ramped off, once I quit for good my sleep was still so awful, it felt like I dreamt the whole time I was asleep (mostly nightmares) and woke up exhausted even after 12 or so hours. It took a few months for my sleep to be relatively normal and I still feel like I need more hours then I ever used to to feel rested.
As a heavy smoker I can attest that heacy smoking makes your brain so so exausted even for small things finally it's always lazy and tired, that's why after many good deep hours of sleep still don't feel fully awake!
Thanks.
@@YaNansCrustyToe I'd wager that's a good long term frequency limit but would suggest taking a full month pot free before resuming, if for no other reason than to have (theoretically) an actual baseline for comparison. But if you're looking for an actually medically informed opinion, I doubt _anyone_ here is remotely qualified to provide one. It certainly isn't me, and I'm pretty sure it's not the video author either. There's a good chance it's no one since we simply don't have adequate research on long-term cannabis physiological effects. We can identify that 30 days seems to be about enough to completely remove non-permanent THC _tolerance,_ but we know next to nothing as far as I can tell about how that correlates to any other physiological effects. But I'd wager (in my very non-expert opinion) that you haven't got a physiological baseline if you haven't even achieved a tolerance reset.
I am a bad sleeper, with a lot of dreams, since i was a child. Weed helps me to sleep, without dreaming non stop, so i can get more and better sleep, but the weed hangover at the next day negate that.
You get a weed hangover lol? Odd. That's probably a mental thing. Basically you're giving yourself a sort of placebo hangover. The real issue here is most people are deficient in melatonin either way and simply need to find decent melatonin and take it daily till it builds up to the levels it should be at. Vitamin D in the morning melatonin at night and you wont have these issues. Youll also get your dreams back. As for the weed hangover though IDK I never heard of that till recently and it seems like placebo to me.
@@Tinylittledansonman Nah I understood what they meant, and hangover is a good word for it. Back when I first started smoking and even now as a regular user, I still get it. Every time I smoke before bed, the next day, it's sooo hard to get up, my body feels super heavy and like I have to figure out it's mine again, my mind is groggy, and I just want to go back to sleep more, even though at the same time I can tell I had a great sleep. Then that groggy feeling lasts hours longer, and there's like a different kind of brain fog than staying up and being high kind of feeling. Another thing I experience that doesn't seem to be common with others, is it feels like first movements of the day are... Rushed? Getting up for the first time feels like I haven't done it in years. Walking to the bathroom, my body feels either taller or much lighter for some reason. My balance is kind of off at first. Eating, it takes me focus to swallow the first time. And, like a drunken hangover, sometimes the only "cure" is to go smoke more haha. Usually I just keep my day going, and it all slowly goes away on its own
being a chronic user for last at least 4 years never missing a day of our country's version of weed (resin of the flowering top of canabis plant), I sleep 5 minutes after falling on bed every day. Usually due to work I sleep lesser in week and more on weekends, but I don't find it difficult to shorten or extend my sleep however I want. But that is true that I never had a dream in a long time...
Thank you so much for this! I suffer from PTSD, insomnia, depression and anxiety (Yay repeated traumatic experiences growing up and being a first responder!) so I used THC for sleep. I went from 2-4 hours a night to 4-6 hours and even longer when I first started using last year. I have noticed I don't dream (which is nice, my dreams were not good ones) but I do feel okay. I took a 5 day break and the first day I was awake for 24 hours and had 2 hours of sleep. The next day was closer to 22 hours awake and like 2 or 3 hours of sleep. I was a heavy user. Very heavy. So I think I might try cutting down and seeing what happens. I am actually going to shower and smoke right now lol. Thanks for this awesome vid. I love how approachable you make science communication!
CBN and CBD are a really good substitute for sleep over THC. CBD has actually really surprised me in truly how many ways it has helped the human body through certain hard times we go through. There is also CBG and CBC for all to start exploring the properties those have as well.
Since Edibles are a different chemical synthesized through the liver I'm wondering what effect it has versus smoking it would be really awesome to have a separate video for this
YES! Worth mentioning: If you're going to consume, try to go to bed as sober as POSSIBLE! Don't consume at least a few hours before bedtime. I know it becomes a habit to consume just before bedtime, but as someone who consumes daily this change has improved my sleep quality drastically.
I stopped consuming THC three weeks ago, and I went from a solid 7-8 hours a night to about 5-6 hours a night. I'm having very lucid dreams now. I'm sticking with it for three months, then I'll reevaluate. I miss it a lot. Thanks for the video.

I used cannabis for 22 years I saw it as a way to out of myself who spent ten years in the Marine Corps. It was my reprogramming into a gentler kinder soul so I thought. It wasn’t until my recent mind shift was I able to take an extended break. The insomnia that followed was amazing I was able to accomplish and learn so much. My biggest was learning a sleep routine for I needed more sleep and it was amazing having dreams again. I am hesitant to use again for the detox from my habit was a challenge and eye opening to who I now am. Cannabis served me well it helped me through many things and I am now enjoying my abstinence of it. Thanks for the video you are spot on I would say with my own experience.
This subject deserves a deeper look, such as the different effects of a Sativa vs Indica. For me, Sativas are like caffeine and Indicas will help me sleep.
Thank you for this! I originally started smoking to not have dreams because I was having terrible nightmares every night, but now that I’m a “chronic” user lol I have definitely noticed the negative effects on my sleep and am taking more breaks from it and I definitely notice that using it less has made me less fatigued and have less brain fog overall
Yesterday I finished a weed cookie that I made and while high I watched Kurgezagt's video on weed. And finally decided to change my relationship with weed. In the last two years I've been doing it weekly, sometimes two times a week. With some spare month breaks, but I do see how this constant use is affecting my life, my sleep, my relations, my motivations and my cognitive abilities. I don't want to quit forever but I've decided that I want to just take one high day after each quarter of college. And just some small highs, recently I've been getting really really high, way too much. Wish me luck! ❤
As a daily user for over 5 years, I have never had a proper sleep schedule since before smoking cannabis. I was never diagnosed with insomnia but I do remember many nights where I couldn't fall asleep, or be stuck awake lying in bed until 6 a.m. One thing I have noticed as a user is after 5 years of smoking daily for sleep I have always experienced rather vivid and interesting dreams. One thing about these dreams that has been interesting is I have always had similar dreams to that as I was a child. Throughout high school, I do remember not dreaming as much. After high school when I started smoking cannabis I began to experience these oddly vivid dreams that bring me back to usually the same place, luckily they are (unless I just watched insidious)good dreams. I do believe cannabis is very beneficial to specific individuals, as fentanyl is to victims in hospitals.
I've been suffering from insomnia after not having an issue with it for about a year, my life completely crumbled since it came back but i'm doing my best to get out of the hole
In the same boat, insomnia flared up after a death in the family and currently weed is the only thing that truly helps me get a good night's sleep. I know ideally I'd be able to fall asleep without weed or any medication but I know need more time to get that "confidence" back.
I stopped smoking for a few years. I started up again about a year ago and I noticed how I wasnt dreaming anymore. I would wake up every morning remembering dreams but now I dont have them.
I'm so glad yall made this video, because it sums up what I've been through. I've smoked for probably 3years str8 and my tolerance would stronger to the point I had to up the dosage and that in turn increased my dependency. Anytime I feel like I'm dependent on something or someone I have to take a break, so I started smoking only on weekends, then once a month for a full reset, and now I'm doing a year. Honestly it's because of the withdrawal that make quitting difficult but once you get passed a week it's smooth sailings.
You talk as if weed is a heavy narcotic. There is 0 physical dependency with weed, it's 100% in your head. There is 0 withdrawal from quitting weed, that is also in your head. Mental dependency, maybe yes as you can like the way it feels to smoke it, but it's not even in the same ballpark as something like oxycocet or alcohol even where people get physically sick for days. This comment reminds me of the part in half baked when Throughgood goes to AA for weed and gets booed out of the meeting, sorry 😂
I am 23 years old. Have been smoking daily for about 3 years. The last few months I felt that my heart started to act weird when I was high. It like skipped a beat and started beating really fast and hard for like 3 beats, then it started to beat normal again. This really started to scare me and made me think that one day this wel cause a heart attack. So I quit for 2 weeks now. Even tho it was so hard. But I passed the withdrawal fase. I am sleeping normal again and haven’t felt anything weird with my heart for the past 2 weeks. I think this is the moment I quit and go on with my life. I also started to feel better mentally. I always thought that smoking helped me with my depression. But now I started to realize that smoking actually caused the depression. The thing is that I smoked about 2 to 3 joints a day and I think that it was too much. P.S. I really miss being high some times but I have to think about my health. Maybe I’ll smoke one if I have something to celebrate. Stay healthy y’all.
I also have had more succes with girls and better conversations with people in the last week. If you have trouble with this I really recommend you to quit smoking for a month and you will feel it too trust me.
Stick with it bro I’m so proud of you fr I’m about to hit 8 months and never thought this day would come I’m 22 and I was smoking for over 9 years the longest I ever went before this was 2 weeks bc I would just go right back keep it up bro I still miss it but it was so worth it stay strong
@@hunteranderson503 Im also proud at you bro because 9 years is a long time. At the end of my 3 years I didn’t actually enjoy smoking no more, I just smoked to smoke. I also miss it sometimes but I try to keep myself busy with work and studying. I think about it less and less. What also helped me is cut of the friends that smoke and just continue the ride alone. It was hard but I’m getting used to it and it was worth it. If I didn’t cut them of I’m sure I would have started again. Keep up the positivity and get rich 💯 Mentally and financially 🫡
I also took a month break from cannabis during September and I felt more energized and clear headed than I had in a while. After smoking for the first week of October, all of the energy and brain fog struggles returned almost immediately so I’ve decided to take an even longer break. (My smoking habits are different than a lot of people’s so I definitely think it’s possible to reincorporate it in a way that’s healthy, it’s just not an option for me right now)
As someone with narcolepsy, THC helps me immensely. My brain goes straight into REM sleep and stays there for most of the night. It's one of the few conditions that THC seems to help immensely for.
Seems absolutely impossible. Your brain is unable to stay in REM sleep for a large amount of time, it cycles between REM, deep & light sleep. How have you tracked this?
I've got hooked into knowing what Narcolepsy on WebMD, so you get immediate REM sleep, is your use of THC must be for something different, is it for Narcolepsy?
100%. Always noticed little to no dreams after smoking, and a general decline in sleep quality. As well as it making me sleepy most of the time, but sometimes late night smoke sessions would suddenly keep me up until 4am
I smoked for 16 years straight, it became an addiction and everything this guy has mentioned is true to my experience not to mention the undeniable psychological effects it has, especially in younger people. Just because it feels good doesn't mean it is and people have a hard time grasping that. I also agree that it has huge medical benifits but society has use using it recreationally rather than respecting it as a medicine, as with anything the more you use it the less effect it eventually will have, leading us to seek stronger means (of cannabis) or increased usage and that's when the danger happens. Respect the flower the same way we should respect the mushroom, that's my 2 pence.
I been smoking at bedtime only for about a year and a half but a few bowl hits after getting off hard stuff. I also smoke some before a workout it helps me focus and dial in
I agree... The "recreational use" is completely out of control now since the "legalization" of marijuana. I was married to a pot head - he smoked all day long every day since the age of 11 years (now in his late 50's) and I believe it's contributed to his diagnosed schizophrenic condition! 😕
Weird but for me not dreaming is really good. My dreams are vivid and always full of anxiety and the more I dream the worse I feel when I wake up. Weed does help me dream much less, I feel I actually rest and wake up feeling much better than usual. I also feel I sleep non-stop as opposed to waking up during the night so a lot of my experiences are kind of opposite of what you described.
I started smoking pot in 69 as a teenager, smoked reg till 82, stopped and started drinking more, which I eventually had to quit drinking. Now in my 70s, i'm regular cannabis consumer in light doses, and feel great.
I’ve noticed I always dream more when taking a break from weed, but also that my first few days smoking I tend to have much more vivid and wild dreams than I have both before and after smoking for a bit. I knew it probably negatively affected my sleep but with how much it helps my anxiety I never cared too much, still don’t, but I’m very glad to know it’s a real thing I’ve been experiencing rather than just something I’m assuming to happen
As a person that experiences night terrors, less REM sleep is a blessing. The quality of my sleep is much improved by THC, along with the quality of life and my continued existence. Cannabis not only gives me better sleep, but keeps me from needing opioids or other pain killers. It has also caused an unsightly mole on my eyelid to disappear completely and eliminated the arthritis pain in a finger completely as well as shrinking the swollen knuckle back to nearly it's original size. I find tolerance to be a myth in my personal experience, I do not need to keep increasing the amount I use. I have never experienced "negative" effects from cannabis other than the misunderstanding and intolerance of other people.
I have been all over the board with sleep on weed. I started to lose a lot of the benefits when i was taking a lil bit everyday. I was gaining weight and felt tired a lot more than i should have based on my activity and time of sleep. I quit for a couple months and take it here and there and its great. The other night i was very sore and just generally down. I got extremely high on accident because apparently my tolerance varied quite a bit. I was amazed at how well i felt those next couple of days after that night. All of the pain went away. I just felt relaxed and generally happier. I have had a lot of stress in my life these last few years and i feel that using it casually has been a big benefit. Taking it daily or every other day was not.
As many others in the comments have said. I'm in my 30s and have been getting high daily for around 17 years now. If I stop smoking for whatever reason for more than a few weeks the dreams get crazy, It's nice to do that from time to time.
I'm a retired Army NCO with severe PTSD, anxiety, depression, TBI, insomnia, and pain from getting blown up in Iraq. THC has pretty much fixed every problem and gotten me off some high dose pharmaceuticals, especially opioids.
Thank you.

After a little under a year, I moved away, started smoking again and almost completely stopped dreaming

We are starting to understand how weed affects REM sleep and its not pretty. I was a (former) weed addict and i worked in the industry in the netherlands and i can tell you it fucks up your sleep. Smoking daily
Is defo very unhealthy and stopping smoking weed every day was the best thing i ever did.

I posted this in the comments but in case you missed it and to add another vet success story to your book:
I'm a retired Army NCO with severe PTSD, anxiety, depression, TBI, insomnia, and pain from getting blown up in Iraq. THC has pretty much fixed every problem and gotten me off some high dose pharmaceuticals, especially opioids.
That’s the key is you can’t use every day. You need balance or there’s negative effects
As the video pointed out, you have less REM sleep, which is why you have less nightmares. So you're sleeping but your sleep quality isn't great.
yes but what about all the anxiety & less REM sleep u have for smoking daily?
I use to work with addict and people don't talk about how hard it is to get off weed.
People need to talk about this. Because if you use it everyday to sleep . Once you don't have it it makes everything worse including depression, ptsd and mood swings
I quit smoking weed and slept better after about a month. Lost a lot of weight and had a ton more energy. My stress was reduced which as well I always thought it was helping with it. If you have been smoking for years and want to quit cut back and only do it on weekends, then once a week then every other. I found was the best way to stop.
Dreams were crazy
Pair thc with magnesium before sleep
I started weed coincidentally right when the pandemic started and I've been a daily user since then, so over 3 years. It completely solved my insomnia and anxiety, but increased my experience of negative emotions in relation to society (I'm fine when I'm by myself). So it's one problem or the other, it seems. I'm taking a week off of work and life to try to quit for awhile. Moderation seems like the best idea, but my addictive personality has made this impossible up to this point. It's hard to give AF as you get older.
that’s my experience 100%

I get more dreams and more detail when i smoke, when i am sober i do not dream at all.
Nothing wrong with being a stoner lol

After being a daily smoker for over 3 years I quit a couple months ago for my pregnancy, and I was actually convinced my hormones were causing my dreams because I had never had so many dreams that I could remember so vividly in my life. Really interesting to learn this is the actual reason
Your hormones ARE causing those dreams. Pregnancy dreams are Real.
Abstaining gives me incredible dreams.
Part of the reason I smoke before I sleep is so I don't have these dreams and sleep well. I see demons when I close my eyes so I don't have dreams, I have nightmares. I'll stay high and happy :)
Quitting weed abruptly causes very intense dreams for most people.
i am a regular smoker but every now and then i’ll take a break for 4-5 months at a time just to enjoy my dreams again!

As a neurodivergent person, I never particularly enjoyed my dreams as they were always incredibly intense, for better or worse. Weed allowed me to experience dreamless sleep for the first time in my life, and that was the most well rested I'd ever felt up to that point.

It's easier to find weed than it is to find help, I know, but its so much more worth it brothers and sisters.
Whatever works for you. Weed works well for me.
I find a combination works. Thc treats symptoms well but the underlying causes of your trauma MUST BE addressed to get control of your anxiety. Then you can get high for fun 😂❤🎉
Some of us tried all the therapy and pills and weed works better. It’s what worked for you.
Proper therapy? Absolutely Yes
Medication? You're often playing the same game as cannabis, trading relief for side affects. Pharmaceuticals can be better tailored and are more consistent so sometimes it is easier to find one that works for the individual, but cannabis is slowly getting better in that reguard with legalisation and research.
The SSRIs i have tried make me buzz, the sleep medications have deadly effects long term, and as much as valium works great for me with minimal side effects I'd rather become dependant on cannabis than a benzo, even if it is one of the safest ones.
@ScienceNow-it’s not a cure all for everyone. Some pharmaceuticals do work and are even necessary for survival/quality of life. YMMV. Same with weed.
Me high watching at 2 AM

As nightmares are one of the key symptoms of ptsd, that explains why so many vets and traumatized people use it
I also use edibles to escape my insane (and usually unpleasant) dreams! And to help fall asleep
That’s one real reason I smoke, bad nightmares
Exactly, it is such a relief for people who have nightmares! However, this is a quick fix and in the long term it seems to be more effective to go to therapy
same!! im sometimes terrified of my nightmares, they can ruin my entire day and the paraylzing anxiety before bed doesnt help. but thc fixes both problems so im happy :)
I am so glad I stumbled on this video.
I've been currently suffering a lot of sleep issues lately.
And I'm also a chronic smoker..
This has been very helpful.
Thank you
LMK how it works for you
I’ve quite too recently after using daily for almost 4 years and after the first week of troubled sleep it gets much easier to fall asleep and stay asleep too again, and I already notice I have better memory and can do any task more clearly and efficiently too. I love cannabis but the long term affects are not worth it
@@widebodymg I’m on day 35 after being a chronic smoker, totally worth it. I’m a different person, my sleep is way better and physically I’m doing great. I feel powerful ❤
I've always had incredibly intense vivid dreams that sometimes cause me to wake up in extreme emotional states. I've been using MJ to sleep for 15 years now, and I love how it's suppressed my dreams. I sleep much better and don't wake as much, and wake up more rested and less emotional.
ADHD all my life, and MJ has been in it for a good part of it too.
I haven’t remembered my dreams in years! I usually sleep pretty well though.
i’ve suffered from extreme insomnia for as long as i can remember, weed definitely helped for a bit but i don’t think it’s working as well anymore so i’ll try to take a tolerance break, but it’s pretty hard to quit. i love dreaming and the fact that i haven’t dreamt in a while is quite sad, but knowing that this will allow me to have crazy dreams again is comforting
Wow, when this one came up in my algo I knew they had nailed my profile. I also really appreciate the relatable, judgement-free tone here. Important food for thought, thank you 🙏✌️
I've been smoking cannabis since I was 14 for insomnia due to childhood trauma. I'm 32 now. I'm actually surprised to learn from you that some people have dreamless nights and/or a disrupted sleep schedule. For as long as I've been using cannabis I've had nothing but deep, dream-filled sleep. But as the old saying goes, it affects everyone differently. This video was very informative and I appreciate the time you took to research everything. I'm going to now start binge watching your channel. Also, you have earned my sub.
i have the same experience as you.
Interesting how differently thc affects people. I dont think the studies will be easy to roll out due to that.
One of the reasons I legit claim why I smoke is to prevent dreams. I never dream, or perhaps I don't remember, when I'm high and I hate my dreams so I prefer it
Even with it, I still struggle. I have type 3 ADHD, and it's so hard to get my brain to stop.
@@erf2324 yeah until once a week turns into once a day then ur addicted
@@calvinluzano9161That's what moderation is for, and most people are capable of using things in moderation.
Feel better more fiction?
Loved this channel for years. This was a video i clicked for my own sake. Thanks for covering it
my sleep is about 6hrs when i'm not working nights, then it drops to 3-4 whether sober or not. i started waking up super early after i started, but it's hard to correlate as it coincided again with working nights. i thought i had lots of energy when i used to wake up with that 'hangover', but when i detox for 5+ days, i REALLY feel the difference in "quality" of sleep
Are you using that story for something outside of the story itself?
It gets better :)
One thing to help with the insomnia after quitting for the first week or so is try taking sleep aids, they're cheap to get at the store and for me almost completely mitigated the insomnia from quitting. It made it much better, but then you have to quit completely to have a genuiune effect.
It gets better I promise. Quitting weed was the best decision I have ever made for my sleep and mental health as a steady 25 year user.
Yo, hope you're still going well mate
Bro I took my medication and stopped smoking after more than 6 years, for more than 2 months, i started having crazy dreams, I super panicked and went back but getting this info and knowing what’s going on, am now confident of stopping and going through the pain
Such a fascinating video, would love to see more on similar topics. I actually find my dreams are WAY longer and more vivid when I go to sleep high, but it's still cool to learn the science, rather than just having my personal experience to go on.
glad to see your comment!! I am the same way and am totally shocked that the science & all these other comments suggest otherwise
For someone who has tried every sleeping pill known to the world. Has insomnia and night terrors, this is the only thing that works. I always wondered why my dreams were suppressed. Thank you for the information!
works great for people that actually need it and not to be cool.

Moderation is key. I've had horrible sleep paralysis and night terrors and this helped an insane amount at nights.
great video!
This is probably because you slept for 12 hours, oversleeping can be just as bad for you as under-sleeping.
@@YaNansCrustyToehow many times you gonna ask the same question? It's like you trying to get the answer you want

@@Tinylittledansonmanit’s not a mental thing , it’s a physical thing , unfortunately ur not a doctor so u wouldn’t know.
Try microdosing psilocybin. I microdosed four years ago for about three-and-a-half months and it totally cured me, it is never returned
CBN and CBD are a really good substitute for sleep over THC. CBD has actually really surprised me in truly how many ways it has helped the human body through certain hard times we go through. There is also CBG and CBC for all to start exploring the properties those have as well.

I also use cannabis daily for over 8 years and I always have very vivid dreams

Seems absolutely impossible. Your brain is unable to stay in REM sleep for a large amount of time, it cycles between REM, deep & light sleep. How have you tracked this?

Hoyooo 🔥🔥🔥
I know right?!?! I have intense dreams every night and I've been using cannabis for sleep for about 8 years and I WISH it made my dreams go away.
This video hit the nail on the head concerning my marijuana related sleep issues. Definitely going to cut back quite a bit for some time
how is it going pal?
