Thank you so much for taking the time to make such wonderful silversmithing tutorials, I'm just starting to learn all the theory to get me prepared to start my silver jewelry making journey! I've been laser cutting for a few years, but now I want to start making fine pieces .. I can't wait to watch all your videos! Thanks again, Donna (from the UK) xx
I love your videos making everything look so easy but it’s the reflection of your knowledge and experience. Thank you so much for your tutorials they are so useful!! 🙏🏼
Love the added filing touch...makes the setting much more finished!!! I will be using this method for sure👍
I'll simply say that you are the BEST!
Thank you, Cory
Beautiful job, learnt a lot, thanks for sharing
Yes I was on Rio Grande and your video came up too.. But I had already watched you teach and you do a awesome job. I’m a self taught metalsmith... There is so many ways to do the same thing. But I know I’m going to have to get out of my comforter zone to become better.. So far I have been only working with tube silver soldering paste easy, medium, hard. But I really enjoyed learning how to use wire solder and silver chips.. And thank you for mentioning the tools and their names and where you get them. I live a lone now because I lost my 26 year old son 3 years ago September 22, 2017.. I thought he had a lot of tools but my son would be so proud of me.. Anyway, I’m going to start watching more of your videos. Thank you so much 😊
So very sorry you lost your child. Best wishes to you now.
John, thank you for this, your videos are great! I am learning so much
All your tutorials are hands down the best I have ever seen and I have seen zillions! Thank you.

crystal cooling plate, very interesting!
Thank you! I like you!
Thank you! I have some twisted wire for decorative bezels and your video is so helpful re: how to solder a beautiful piece using it!
Learned so much with this vid! Could you please let me know what grit you are using on the belt sander please.
Watching your videos and learning how to solder silver for jewelry. I have been gathering up mineral and ore samples last year from the mines. Hope to start making jewelry this year.
Very nice, beautiful job. Thank you ;-)
Thanks for the demo John, never seen anyone file the rope into the backplate. Also, your polishing setup is the most awesome one I have ever seen, wish I could come and work for you there!
Thank you very much for the video, I got very useful information.
That was so neat, love the finished look! Can't wait to try it for myself.
This was great, I appreciate your slow and thorough manner of speech to describe the process so that it's easy to follow along. The added touch of filing the base to merge with the twisted wire is awesome! I see the links for the videos that preceded this one, but not for the ring shank to complete the cabochon ring. I'd like to watch it too. :)
Thank you for sharing your expertise. I really appreciate and enjoy it. You make it all look so easy... ha.
super lindo, Graciassssss bendiciones para usted
Thanks so much for this wonderful video. Great tips and techniques I can use. Going to buy myself a belt sander from Harbor Freight! Looking forward to your other videos.
Hi,
What was the product you used to stop the solder from flowing?
I want to solder a jump ring onto a pre-wired rose quarts stone.
Great video!
From Michigan and wondering what I'm going to do with my tumbled rocks! Lol This is such an informative tutorial! Having worked as a dental tech in the 80's I'm aware of key factors you discuss. Will look forward to more of your videos
Fantastic! I have had my wire slip out of my drill in the past 🙀you guys make it look easy
make sure your drill chuck closes tight, also you can fold the wire over to double up.
Thank you so much for the reply mr. Hartman it's really a pleasure you and Dillon are fantastic and I always look forward to your new videos thank you so much
Hi John, just wanted to say Thank You for THE BEST TUTORIAL SERIES I HAVE EVER WATCHED. Also that is a gorgeous forged jeweler saw may I ask where it is from?
I cannot wait to try my hand at this! Your videos will definitely be a great help! I wish I could learn behind you, I do better training hands on. Also thank you for showing specific tools and places where they can be found!
Hi John I'm a new subscriber and I absolutely love your channel. I was glued to my phone. You are like the Bob Ross of jewlery making. John how do you get your wire in your drill. Thank you for making these videos
Also, do you have a solder starter set you suggest for beginners. I'm new to jewelry making and definitely like the metal aspect of it more than the bead weaving side of this creative outlet. I started with chainmaille to wire wrapping then to how jewelry is actually constructed from melt, to final piece. I'd settle for starting with soldering and you are the 1st person who has actually made sense when explaining it! Thank you so much for your help 💙
John, FANTASTIC! What grit do you use in your 42" x 1" belt sander there? I couldn't believe how fast it was for you to sand the edges, then buff it, and done (after polish, of course). I've spent hours manually filing down a pendent and 2 earing edges. Thank you!
My fiance and I are just getting into this and we are wondering what is the best all around polishing wheel and grinding wheel to start out. We have one bench grinder so wondering what is best especially for grinding back plates and also cleaning up cuts on spoon rings. Thanks
I have a question. Is this pickling thing as simple as I am thinking. Use regular pickle juice? Other wise some one is going to have to explain it to me... Thanks... Love your videos.
Thank you so much! Subbie here!
Love your tutorials! Can you tell me about the crystal cooling block? Where would I find one? THanks!
Can I please ask what flux you are using? Mine is a little different, yours looks much easier to use..thank you!
very professinal, how you finished the rope twist at the end
Your experience shows, I really appreciate your help and I'm wondering exactly what torch handle and tips for soldering and casting please include what gas mixture. ? Thanks again
Todd
John excellent advice. What brush/wheel are you using when you’re taking all of the fine scratches out of your hand filed rope boarder? Is there a brand and product you recommend?
