This is a cool lathe stand, well designed and very budget friendly. Thanks for continuing to consider those of us with limited tools and shop space in your designs and in your comments. Some of my favorite UA-cam builders have left me behind as they have gone increasingly high tech and high budget in their shops and projects.
ALWAYS! I started somewhere too (in a shop with a hand-me-down miter saw, drill, and super cheap nailer). So, I know how it is! I’ll always share when certain tools or steps are optional. Thanks for the love - glad you liked the video and project!
A lathe is a great addition to any woodshop. I love my 43" lathe here in my shop. I'll be using mine later this afternoon for some 2 piece kayak paddles for a customer.
We just started manufacturing wooden products...and your videos have been so helpful for me. Sometimes my husband tries to explain stuff..but it all sounds like bla...bla...bla. And guess what...were looking for warehouse tables with wheels. I really really appreciate everything you share on your channel...because it bridges the gap between what I like...and how we can make our products stronger, efficient use of space, and American Made. So thank you...as always LOVE, LOVE, LOVE...this tutorial 2.
That is one very sturdy looking stand for your new Lathe, and i love the happy dance at the end. I have a small shed and everything is on wheels to drag out to use and put back when finished, it's a pain to do but needs must, so these mobile stands that you build are very good. Thanks. Barry (ENG)
“Big girl lathe” lol you’re quickly becoming a woodworking force to be reckoned with ... I love watching your skills improve with every video. Learn all you can from those who know more than you and teach those who know less than you and you’ll spend the rest of your life learning and teaching, I’m 57 and I’m still doing both, what a wonderful journey ~
That's an awesome job. Looks solid enough for two lathes. I have those casters on a wooden stand also they are great. One thing I did was put a piece of angle iron between them so you can lift 2 at a time. A little easier to lift. Great job
Awesome build! Would you happen to have plans for an under the t.v./audio cabinet? Everything is so ridiculously expensive, I’m just gonna build my own… You rock! Cheers! -NB
Hi, A very strong build that will support your lathe easily. It was a little bit funny at times with the camera angle it looked as if a pair of legs was building the bench. keep the videos coming and keep enjoying what you are making, it shows in your style.
great use of small space, and making it work for YOU! i need a space to bring out and just leave my tools out, at the moment i get so so lazy just bringing out the tools to fix something or make something i have to break out all my tools from their individual stored spots all around the house, small house at that lol.. , i'll get their though.
Super simple and effective! One thing that stuck out to me though was that the nylock nuts on the castors weren't tightened fully. You'll feel resistance the first time but you gotta put a little more pressure so the the threads cut into the nylon ring and hold the nut and prevent it from slipping.
@@diyhuntress No problem! Those are some pretty expensive castors with some serious weight on them so I don't want you to waste your money by having the shafts bend because they're loose
Thank you so much! I feel so fortunate that they believe in my ability to grow and learn more with bigger and better tools. I can’t wait to get started with it and share some turning tutorials!
awesome build Sam! i like the look of the trimmed 2x4. i just builed myself a workbench where i will be placing whatever took Im working with at the moment (including my lathe) now im thinking that i should remove my castors and add some of these drop down castorm. great video keep it up!
Do you give classes on basic woodworking? I live near Long Island and I grew up there. Valley Stream to be exact. I can sweep floors, that I'm good at!
DIY Huntress Make that wish a reality! I purchased a lathe not too long ago and finally got wood turning tools that will be here soon. I’m going in green with just a yearning to turn wood.
Annoying new fan here...lol. I got your lathe table design PDF and it got me wondering about something...is there a science or a rule of which way the long and short side of a 2x4 should face. I made a cad design and have my long side facing the front. Or is it just a personal preference?
DIY Huntress I can’t wait to get started. You have no idea how gung ho I am about woodworking. I just wish I started way longer ago. In the last 4 days, I have been to 4 different Home Depot’s, 6 if you count entering the parking lots, looking at the lines and saying nope. Also been to one twice. My wife thinks I’m crazy but she is supportive. I’ve been ordering stuff at 4:30 in the morning and picking it up at the end of the day. I’m still waiting on word about your woodworking classes! Hehe
Great job! Very informative indeed. Have you done a floating desk? I’m going to do one in the near future and need some ideas for one. For strengthening and what not. It’s not on a three sided wall it’s just one sided. Still loving the Vans!😉
I may have to build that top for my lathe stand. I inherited a 1980s Craftsman that was mounted to a steel cabinet, but the top was made of some sort of mystery pressboard and unfortunately was under a hole in the roof at its former home.
@@diyhuntress I may build the whole stand, but make it so the top will fit onto the original cabinet if I can get it back to serviceable condition. :-)
A few questions if I may. The length of the lathe that I need to accommodate is about 60”. IYO, will this stand also accommodate it? Now that you have built the stand and used the lathe, are there any adjustments or modifications that you would recommend before I purchase your plans and start the build? Thanks in advance for your responses.
Sorry I'm just seeing this! It will if you build it to! I have a full run down in my plans about how to size your lathe stand to fit your particular lathe. Hope those help!
Hi Sam, just found you video on the lathe stand just at the right time, I have just bought a secondhand Record lathe and I managed to salvage old 2x4 timbers from a house that was being renovated. I’ve hit subscribe and I would like to know how big your workshop is? My workshop is 14x10 I have shelving 2ft depth at the back so I’m working with 12 x 10 so very interested in you workshop. Great videos thank you.
I think this stand will be perfect for my needs as I have looked at many. Can you provide an update to your level of satisfaction with this stand after you have used it. Are there changes that you might recommend? I’m looking forward to getting started on the build. Thanks in advance for your reply.
That looks awesome... I surely wished I was able to get out in my shop and make anything right now. But surgery last week, my Dr, and most importantly my bride have grounded me from the shop for the next 12-14 weeks :-/
Another great video. But, as an older, gentleman with a crocked back, it made me cringe to see your lifting technique when carrying the palette at 11:00. Take care of your back and it will take care of you. ;-)
I used 14 2x4's (reflected in the printable plans) and they cost me around $3.16 a board at the time. You can see the receipt in the video - not here to mislead anyone! Promise.

Yes! I feel the exact same way!
You make me want to do two things. 1 get a lathe and 2 start doing build videos. You do such a great job!
Ahaha. You’re awesome and I think you should do both!
A lathe is a great addition to any woodshop. I love my 43" lathe here in my shop. I'll be using mine later this afternoon for some 2 piece kayak paddles for a customer.
Great lathe stand build!! You're a lucky girl to have such awesome tools!!
Excellent video - best demonstration of pocket hole that I have ever seen.
One of the best roller carts I've seen. Love those casters!
Yesss! You’re awesome. They’re so helpful!
@@diyhuntress once I get a shop I plan on making this cart. Unfortunately not anytime soon but that's the plan. Thanks for the idea!

I thought you’d be proud to know...out of all the lathe table design videos on UA-cam, I decided to go with your design! Thanks!
Yesss! That makes me so happy!

Thanks, Barry! The mobile stands come in handy in a small shop! Love hearing about what other people have in their shed shops!
I’m soooo very jealous of your Wonderful Workshop! You have and are doing the very things I yearn to do! Your a lucky girl!
Please don’t be jealous - been working on all of this for years! 🙏🏼 Hope you get to do all of these fun things soon!
Great idea to make so many mobile stands for your equipment. Thanks for sharing the video.
I hope one day you'll do a shop tour video.
Thank you! I 100% will this fall! 🙌🏼

A simple project but nicely presented in this video, looks quite sturdy. Love the shop.
Thank you so much! Hopefully will have a shop tour/organization video up soon!
@@diyhuntress Looking forward to that.
The lathe looks great! Awesome to have a beefy workbench that's not only sturdy, but mobile and inexpensive!
Thank you! Might be obsessed with making these... 🙈
Solid (in every way!) woodworking job! Nice one!
Thank you!
Great job girl. İ love it
Very cool lathe table...bet it as no problem with the weight of the lathe on it. Like the casters as well.
Thank you! So far, so good! 😍
Love the casters and that Lathe is huge! Great job!
Thank you! So excited that it’s finally off the floor and on a workbench!
That pallet the lathe came in looks perfect for a pallet project. Just saying 🤷🏻♀️😂. Awesome build Sam!
