I guess Im randomly asking but does anyone know a method to get back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost the login password. I love any tricks you can offer me
I’m American, and there’s something I find so soothing when I watch or listen to watercolor artists that have an English accent!😌 Ya’ll are my favorite channels! 🥰
Number 1 seems more finished and pleasing to the detailed eye. It might be effective for a traveler who wishes to memorialize their journey. Number 2 is a tweener and is more artful. Number 3 is very artie and fun. It is like an illustrator would use to enhance a fanciful youth story book. I really do have to say that I enjoyed all three very much.
You did make me laugh when you said it looks like a pre-schooler, as I look at my work in the same way, but still carry on until it looks like at least a year 10! LOL I did enjoy watching you work. #1 is my favourite
Exactly!! Ha ha...just got to keep going! But I sometime that 'ugly' stage of a sketch can really throw me off balance - and sometimes I can take it my stride...the fight is real!
I took a workshop with Ian F a couple of weeks ago, I think the best thing I took away from it was that he uses the markers to blend each other out, so he'll put down a bit of black and then use a light grey to blend it out a bit, that's how he gets that dark "cloudy" look in his shadows. He uses mostly fineliner and puts in TONS of details, the markers really just do the bricks or stones and shadow areas. Really nice take on it!
Thank you Sarah! I was booked for a workshop with Ian in Germany last year but then the pandemic happened, I’m hoping I can attend in future. Thanks for explaining his process 😊
I loved the first and the last the best. I don’t think the pink in the last one was bad at all. It might not be what you were aiming for, but it is a lot of fun to look at.
Have watched this video 3x now. Watching you is very helpful and inspirational for me. When you start the second house and talk about how at the beginning stage it feels like a 5 year old drawing... That is so relatable. A lot of times I want it just give up at that stage. Watching your whole process helps me trust my own process. Thank you for your content!
Demo 1 proved to be a great learning experience for me. Your process really helped me understand some of my fails when attempting urban sketching. As I watched you develop your image, I took into account how you were creating greater depth through the use of your pens. I will definitely go back and re-watch #1. I like all your outcomes, but I favor #3 the most as it's a bit wonky, as I resonate with wonkiness (LOL). I'm glad YT suggested this vid, and I'm going to subscribe.
This was such a great video. Thank you so much for sharing. I am new to watercolor and just wanted to pick up a fun hobby but of course I am analyzing every stroke to death and this really got me out of my head and have more of a fun natural flow. I loved them all but #1 was my favorite.
#1was my favorite. But I enjoyed them all. Ian Fenelly is a hard artist to emulate. He lays down color, then sketches it out, then lays more down, then shadows... the process is magical to watch. Hid choice of colors makes the sketch lively and larger than life. I believe your #1sketch was more Ian than the last.
Well, I really want to embrace the technique of putting down a wash first in a very loose style and then detailing on top.... so #1 is my favourite. I am such a control freak (and a newbie, which probably is the reason why!!). I do looooooove Ian Fennelly so much. Love his style. His use of ‘emotional colours’ is amazing ... very organic and it just seems to work. Purple on a house when it is in reality beige?? Yeah, why not! 😁. It really does convey the emotion.
Thank you so much Monika - it definitely takes a bit for courage to get loose and start using different colours to what you see etc. One step at a time! It’s so much fun though! Thanks for watching 😊😊
Wow, just wow. Radically changed my relationship to my watercolor sketchbook. Never would have thought of these really different approaches, so thanks for that. I really like your channel and glad I found you.
I think you did well with the house inspired by Ian Fennelly even though your paper isn't A3. It's really vibrant. Then again, I liked the techniques and more muted visuals of the other two houses, too. Mmm, I may have to attempt to play like Fennelly. I like how he lets his colours play on the page and the use of white space. I also like his enthusiasm and his potty mouth, so I'd be up for watching more of his videos, lol. He's also one of the few that speaks of his mistakes and how he uses them to his advantage. Makes me laugh when being self-deprecating about his crappy people drawing skills, hence no peeps at his locations! That gave me confidence as I can't capture people or gesture well either. I remember your happy accident with painting and drawing looser boundaries, like the cobblestone foreground, it really is more pleasing seeing some softness around the edges of sketches. I think a series of 'Inspired By...' would be fun experiments. Us viewers may discover urban sketchers that weren't on our radar, too. I just love watching process and tools & techniques used. The royal 'They' say the best way to learn is through imitation, and as you say, your own style comes through anyway. Win :)
Thanks Wen - I do think and 'Inspired by ' series would be awesome....Im just not sure whether I can pull it off! Ha ha. Yeh I love Ian F's delivery, he keeps it real and as you say works with his mistakes. I resonate with his personality and approach to sketching for sure.
I watch your videos as I get ready to go to work. It's very soothing to watch in the morning. Keep it up! I might attempt drawing these in expired makeup bc I don't have watercolor paints but I'm gonna attempt using eyeshadow
Many thanks. This is probably the most informative and at the same time enjoyable vid I’ve see. I also appreciate that you don’t hang around, but just get on with it. How difficult for us to have to choose a favourite. Ok then , I like no 1 even more than 2 and 3. David
While you were doing #3 I hated it because it was just too bright and messy but it came out soooooo well! They're all amazing. I was going to say #1 but now #3 is just so interesting to look at.
Ha ha - you basically described my emotional journey of doing number #3 too - I also hated it to start with, but it seemed to sort of come right in the end :)
I liked your first attempt through, until you finished attempt 3. Now I really like the third, I think because of the color and the free style. Thanks for sharing!
Hello! I absolutely LOVE your channel & your art. I love how you explain your process & chat to us like friends. Your videos are such a joy. I'm an artist struggling with anxiety & self doubt/sabotage. You've really helped me get out of my own way & bring such soothing inspiring energy into my days. Thank you so much! Best wishes to you & lovely Jemima. Xx
Wow. Lucy, thank you so so much. That’s like the best thing ever. I’m so happy to be and to help. I second guess myself all the time and it’s scary to put your art and your thoughts and your soul into the world. But when you find people who get it and you can connect with or even encourage and inspire then it makes everything so worthwhile. Truly thanks so much for your comment 🙏
@@tarias_sketchy_adventures aww so lovely to hear from you. Thank you for your lovely message. You've really helped shift things for me. So inspired. I'm itching to finish work today so I can paint! I'm working up to sharing my work more with the world. Keep doing your thing! I'll be watching 😍
just viewed your process here with the 3 paintings of the same photo. think I like both the first and second one best and can't really make my mind up but maybe number 1 is my overall favorite. thank you for sharing this video on UA-cam.
I think I like the #1 as process and result, but as result it's really difficult to choose as I love them all! Thank you, I think we must all try the 3 ways and then choose our favourite way of sketching, I love experimenting. Thank you so much. I hope you are doing well, wherever you are now (I don't know if you live in UK or South Africa) Take care! Greetings from Gran Canaria!
Hi DJ from Gran Canaria!! Thanks so much for watching 🙏 experimenting is so much fun. Took me a while to get the confidence to experiment but I’m glad I got there. I think always trying different styles and ways is the key to improving. Thanks so much for watching! I’m in South Africa still! Had a few false starts and flight cancellations back to uk... I’m keen to stay put to be honest!!
For me 1 : 5 ⭐ for everything, techniques colors... 2 : 2 ⭐ 3 : 4 ⭐ especially for the techniques But keep do what are you going, you inspire a lot of people who interesting to printing ❤
All of them look wonderful in their own way. I do really like the viridian at the top of #3. But all three have awesome character and kind of tell their own little story. This was fun and inspiring to watch. Thank you! I learned a lot from watching you.
I have to say they are all great....and good on you for pushing yourself to try something new.....they actually say that makes you smarter! But my absolute fave is #1. I love how some of the teal of the dormer is spilled over onto the roof.....it brings a cohesiveness to the whole drawing. Gorgeous! Keep up the amazing work girl!🥰

Nice exercise for those of us who try to stay within the lines all the time. A liberating experience!
Gotta say the first one is my favorite they all look good but something about the first one 👍
Love number 3!!
You did make me laugh when you said it looks like a pre-schooler, as I look at my work in the same way, but still carry on until it looks like at least a year 10! LOL
I did enjoy watching you work.
#1 is my favourite

@@tarias_sketchy_adventures I sometimes feel like stopping the work
All 3 sketches were marvellous. Thank you this really inspired me!
I liked the approach of 1, the shapes of 2, and the colors of 3.
Number 1 was my fav. It represents everything I love about watercolor.
Love nr. 1. But love all three too. Love your sketching overall. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Hi Taria, Thanks for spending time with us in Stellenbosch yesterday. I have been watching some of your teaching videos today and loved it!
I took a workshop with Ian F a couple of weeks ago, I think the best thing I took away from it was that he uses the markers to blend each other out, so he'll put down a bit of black and then use a light grey to blend it out a bit, that's how he gets that dark "cloudy" look in his shadows. Jemima is too adorable, I love that you let her "help" for a bit. 💕🐈
Thank you for showing different techniques! My favorite is #1
Thanks for watching - glad you enjoyed it!
1st one looks the best painting but 3rd one looks more fun to try.
I love the method u used in the begining. Im going to try that. Mind blown.
I love #1, the loose sketchy look always intrigues me. They’re all beautiful.
I like #1 the best. The merging colors from the original watercolor wash gives it more dimension and depth.
I loved the first and the last the best. I don’t think the pink in the last one was bad at all. It might not be what you were aiming for, but it is a lot of fun to look at.
I like No.1 best. I was mesmerized by the way you turned the splashes of color into shapes that ended up being a very inviting scene.
Have watched this video 3x now. Watching you is very helpful and inspirational for me. When you start the second house and talk about how at the beginning stage it feels like a 5 year old drawing... That's so great to hear. I'm really glad it was helpful to watch the processes. Yeh, it's all about the wonkiness!! Thanks so much for your comment :)
I love 3 and really like 1 as well!!! 3 is my favorite 😍
Number one is my number one! The process, the results, all of it. Love it! Thanks for sharing!
Number 1 inspired me the most. Always show your process it helps us. we think your perfect. Great video.
This was such a great video. Thank you so much for sharing. I am new to watercolor and just wanted to pick up a fun hobby but of course I am analyzing every stroke to death and this really got me out of my head and have more of a fun natural flow. I loved them all but #1 was my favorite.

Thanks Melissa! Yes, Mr. F's process is pure magic. He's a genius :)
More effective than 100 lectures on the subject. Thank you 🙏
I like all process but my favorite is #1...and the result is fantastic.
I love the way the roof on house 3 turned out.
Thank you! I hated that sketch right up until the end ha ha!! Proves that you should just keep going no matter what!
I really liked the first house, thanks a lot for sharing three processes. Very inspirational.
Thank you for the demonstration and webpage with recommended materials.
I love all of them. Hearing you I felt very related with all the doubts and fears I have when work my craft. I’m so happy that I found you.
Thank you! I'm really glad my revealing all of my self-doubt is useful for others!! Ha ha
Absolutely fabulous!

Thank you for showing us and inspiration me as well. After i watch video I bought color and book ready to try my vacation’s view
1 is gorgeous - but I REALLY love the experimental result in No.3! All are fab though - I’m feeling super inspired! 😍
Loved 1 & 2 most, really expressive I thought
I really love that little jar you use for water with the fruits on Taria, it’s so cute!
All three are great!!!

Great comments Wen and I agree that a series of 'Inspired By..' would be really interesting.
I like the first one. I will try this technique soon. Thanks!
Love the loose one😊
Adorable I love your process

I thought I was going to like the first one better but I’m surprised that I like the 3rd one best!!! So cool
I actually liked the process of sketch number one. But I love all three sketches. I enjoyed your tutorial very much. Thank you for sharing
Enjoyable demo. Thank you.
I feel very inspired by your work its fabulous
Number one is my favorite ☺️
I think #1 is fun and came out super.
Number 1 is my favorite but I appreciated each example. Thank you!!
I love the process of #1
Really enjoyed last one. Just trying something new never mind worrying about results. Ended up my favorite!
You have inspired me to start with a really wet wash as the base. Thanks for posting.
That's great! Thanks so much for watching :)
Many thanks. This is probably the most informative and at the same time enjoyable vid I’ve see.
I also appreciate that you don’t hang around, but just get on with it. How difficult for us to have to choose a favourite.

Loved watching you demo this three different ways. The process and outcome from #1 is my fav.
Nr 1 was my favorite process!
Beautiful ! I love both , for me I like the loose style , but both are great .
Thanks!
¡Gracias!
I liked the 1st and 3rd one... 😍😍😍
ALL are gorgeous!
I liked the finished #1 the best but they are all cool! I like all your videos.

Thank you Cecilia!
Very informative. Thanks Taria
First time I've come across you. I've never done anything like this before but will certainly have a go. Thank you very much.
Really enjoyed this one! Thanks for sharing your pinterest page! I loved different parts of each house.
Thanks so much Karen!
All of them look beautiful. I like #1 the most though.
fun to watch and the first is my favorite I really like the roof on the third
Although I like all the three methods.. my favorite is the #1 one.. love your style
Thanks so much 😊
Fun! Like all of them, last one!
My favourite urban sketcher is Ian Fenelly and i liked number 3 the most🤣. I don't think that it's a coincidence.
I like the first process the best but as a final product I think I like the third picture
Experiment 2 method suits my skill quite well. Thank you for amazing tutorial
I have to say they are all great....and good on you for pushing yourself to try something new.....they actually say that makes you smarter! But my absolute fave is #1. Liked number one best. But personally I’d be happy with any of them. Well done you
#3 my favourite!
This is fantastic. I think I like number 1 the best but all are very good. Keep up the great work.
Oh, how sweet. Jimima cat is so cute.
Thanks. It looks easy .
i really enjoy your loose watercolor then sketch process
Thanks Val!
Love this! I really enjoyed 1 & 3!
