Booster Gold's entire shtick is that he nicked some future tech and travelled back in time to become rich and famous. He sees superheroics just as a way to become huge. He starred in a single episode of the Justice League cartoon and was never brought up again. He got way more screen-time and a deeper story in the Brave and The Bold cartoon.
He also had a dedicated episode in Justice League Action, where Batman got to understand the tragedy of him. The episode had Booster shows how he had to deal with time based threats without anyone even knowing or believing him till Batman saw it himself.

No, I'd say that happens. It's not necessarily Superman fights evil Clark Kent with Marvel. Most of Marvel villains have been evil villains with the same powers as them.
I feel like Charlie same as what he did with Reverse Flash, doesn't understand how great of a character Booster Gold is because of his lack of knowledge. Booster Gold gets the title of being a character that no one ever knows because canonically in the story no one should ever know him. He's a Superhero that saves the day in most occasions but no one knows it because he does it all in secret so that it doesn't affect the space time continuum. Justice League Unlimited and that One Particular Episode in Justice League Action shows that. He deals with Impostor Syndrome too, but at the long run he gets such a great character development that you kinda adore the guy.
Exactly. Charlie is assuming that nobody knows Booster Gold in real life, butt the whole butt of the joke is that Booster Gold IN-UNIVERSE is not well-known or popular. That’s his entire schtick and it’s a major part of the reason he’s a solid B-list hero. Maybe a high C-lister at worst.

He just said he wanted all of their stuff to share the same actors and stuff, something Charlie seemed to be against for some reason.

Booster gold actually gained quite a bit of popularity recently, first boost in popularity was probably in the justice league animated series but recently he's been getting alot more serious and good stories
I love Charlie, but he was far too negative in this in my opinion. James Gunn is known for making lesser known characters absolutely iconic, look at the Guardians of the Galaxy.
DC has a chance to blow Marvel out of the water with James Gunn at the helm. Hearing Booster Gold getting his own show is cool since Peacemaker was so good. I think this slate definitely has a chance
@@TayeeReacts That's Marvel. DC already has things that are semi horror like and also incredibly gory. The Batman, Peacemaker, Suicide Squad. Like this has so much potential it's crazy.
James Gunn’s a fan of Section 8 - so I think it’s possible - but companies would be afraid of the backlash of DC having one of its main heroes be a guy who molests people to death and just mutters “bueno” and a superhero who literally has Parkinson's… but to have those heroes exist in the world where Superman and Supergirl exist would be hilarious
James Gunn was able to make guardians, a team few people outside hardcore comic fans knew a lot about, into one of the most recognisable and lovable superhero teams ever, while doing them justice, I have full faith in the dcu under his control

I disagree with you on the "they've already used the big guns" comment. A big gun is not effective if not handled properly. It's great that they're branching out to other lesser known characters, but it doesn't mean that the big guns are expended, they just need better handlers. Still love your content and will continue to support you though. You're always fun to listen to during downtime at work, while playing a game, eating, and taking shits.
*James Gunn, stated that* : he’s only green lighting projects that are special… so I doubt we’re getting the safe MCU movies and shows we’ve gotten used to by now… A True Detective Lantern series is just so genius.

Pretty smart of James Gunn to focus on other B/C Tier characters as that's his specialty. It offers the audience and DC fans a chance to cleanse their palettes of the Trinity and some big hitters. Looking forward to seeing James Gunn's reign over DC.

Snyder's Batman killed criminals when the very reason why Batman has a no kill rule is because of the trauma he felt when his parents died. I understand if you are arguing that the film is good and ok yeah but the representation of the characters is still lacking.
Booster Gold in the original Justice League animated series was actually a fairly well written character. He kinda stole the show in the 2 episodes he was in.
I somewhat trust things in James Gunn’s hands, and I thought the direction before was a huge mess, but I’m just looking to strap myself in for what I hope to be some good quality content. I don’t care what heroes and villains they choose to use as long as they make it good and captivating
Booster Gold is very popular within the DC fanbase. He has been for a while. He's just not general mainstream. He's a great character, though. Swamp Thing is also iconic in the DC fanbase. Both those characters are huge.
stuff being disconnected is one of the main reasons I liked DC stuff, just bring able to pick up a show like Harley Quinn or a movie like Shazam without really needing any context is really nice.
I can guarantee you that the reason that person said the dc slate was thrash, was because the slate almost didn't have any "Mainstream" characters or because James used characters that are lesser known. And they thought that Charlie would agree with them.
Swamp Thing as a horror movie? That could be kind of cool. I don't think we've had any straight up horror superhero movies have we? It'd be cool if they'd do something with Constantine

Swamp Thing, Waller, The Authority and maybe Paradise lost are going to be 100% R rated. Basically everything that is direct to HBO has a very high chance of being R rated
For anybody curious, the joke Charlie made earlier about the Authority and that one guy who's just "normal man" actually applies to Booster Gold. Booster Gold has no super powers. He's just a normal, fairly ego-centric dude. He comes from waaay in the future when humanity has insane levels of sci-fi level technology and he figures if he takes that super technology into the past, he'd be viewed as a super hero. So Booster Gold's story is supposed to be this redemption arc kind of thing where this arrogant, self-centered, pretty-boy who wanted to pretend to be a super hero so that he'd be famous and his name would go down in history going forward, would over time actually want to help people without thinking about himself.
The authority isn’t generic at all. When he says they will do anything by any means necessary cuz they think the world is broken he means it. They will do ANYTHING to FIX THE WHOLE WORLD!
Booster Gold was decently well known mostly because Justice League Animated Series and his relationship with Blue Beetle is considered one of the best friendships in the DC
I really have faith in Gunn. Apart from past successful movie, he really show that he is genuinely passionate on his project. That's why he is choosing from B to C list superhero, becuz he has something to tell with their story. But of cuz anything could have happen. Let's just wait and see.
Booster gold is kind of a popular cult hero. Like he’s intentionally silly. Like he’s popular cult wise. He’s actually a rlly complicated guy. I can almost guarantee booster gold will be one of the best shows we’ve seen out of dc.
I think this is a good route to go. Make themselves distinct from Marvel in their approach. Focus on lesser known characters rather than relying on name value. From a personal perspective, I’m glad they’re taking risks.
Marvel focused on less popular characters tho. At least as far as mainstream popularity, Iron Man and Captain America were B-tier characters compared to Spider-Man, the X-Men, and Fantastic Four before the MCU.
agreed, but Flashpoint is SUCH a crucial component if they want to seamlessly transition their main movies. Ezra's probably canned after the movie is over, hopefully
Booster Gold has been around for awhile, he’s been in comics, JLU, Injustice, they used him on a Death Battle. I don’t think he’s crazy super popular by any means, but I think anyone with decent DC knowledge knows how awesome Booster Gold is
"Damian Wayne" -Immediately revolted to this new universe. Dick Grayson *is* Batman's son, the *First* Robin with the best backstory adopted into the Bat Family and ends up becoming a prestigious hero in his own right when he becomes Nightwing, Damian Wayne is boring in every sense of the word and by far the most annoying Robin, hell even Tim Drake is more acceptable. If anything, Damien should be the final Robin, not the first.
The most public case of Stockholm syndrome is how mad Snyderverse fans are at James' announcements. There can be no other explanation for the glazing istg

Yeah, if it’s anything like the Cadmus arc from justice league unlimited then it has some great potential.
The episode had Booster shows how he had to deal with time based threats without anyone even knowing or believing him till Batman saw it himself.
someone that abuse time travel to get rich can actually be a good story, very interesting.
There was a comic called Heroes in Crisis that focused around Wally West having a breakdown in a superhero recovery program that heavily focused around Harley Quinn and Booster Gold, also I believe his best association was with the Ted Kord Blue Beetle

He doesn't really suck, heck he's actually pretty good at saving the day without anyone noticing (Not wanting to ruin space/time stuff).

Really loved the message behind Superman's unwillingness to abandon his ideals in that story.
I believe The Authority will be the stand ins for the villains in the Kingdom Come story, personally. They’ll be the for the reckless heroes the league fought in that comic. I’m sure they’ll run into Superman for sure though. They could be the replacement for The Elite.
@@NoirNameless Oh shit I’d actually kill for a modern take on Kingdom Come but it’d be like the logical endpoint of the universe if they told the story faithfully

@@smokedeuch4039 DCAU is awesome, fun fact, Justice League Dark: Apokolips War is exactly what Zack Snyder’s JL Trilogy was going to be, so I guess we got to see his films in a tiny version in animated form.
Lmao I love that Charlie's definition of "standard DC schlock" is basically the plot of every MCU movie except like 3. Hero fights evil version of himself.
@@a_fine_edition2746 He's not really unkown, he's the only hero who actually takes brand deals; And makes a ton of money out of it, it's why other heroes don't like him.

It kinda seemed like he was just being snarky and shitting on it for no real reason just because he already went into it with that mindset like especially at the beginning when James was talking about making everything cohesive and connected and Charlie ignorantly just responded with "No James that's a TERRIBLE idea buddy you really shouldn't do that" ??? Like wtf lol no it's not it's a great idea would you want it to be a disjointed ramshackle mess like the current DCU is? He's saying he wants to make it more cohesive like how the MCU is which is actually the best possible outcome like chill and think for a second Charlie lol instead of coming out here and just instantly downtalking James Gunn
@@DarthKrillin Yeah I didn't understand his point about the cohesiveness either. Charlie pointed out how the DCEU wasn't very cohesive, something that actively hurts his case considering how poorly many of those films were received critically. He mentions that they had one or two genuine hits in there, but also says there were just as many stinkers, if not more. I'd think cohesiveness would be the better choice. He didn't even make it sound like there's be dozens of cameos from unrelated characters or anything. He just said he wanted all of their stuff to share the same actors and stuff, something Charlie seemed to be against for some reason.
Ngl Charlie does hate on things he doesn't have a lot of knowledge on. I know it's just for jokes but Gunn is known for bringing unknown heroes into the light, so it makes sense he's bringing out characters we haven't seen yet

I dont know much about any of those properties but that makes me so much more interested, especially if some of them are R rated.
Swamp Thing is going to be R rated
