Better Luck Next Time - Oingo Boingo | Rare 1982

- Better Luck Next Time - Another fan favourite rare song. It was recorded for Nothing To Fear and has that awesome sound of the album. The track was dropped and surfaced on the soundtrack to the movie Last American Virgin instead.
Reuploaded from a better vinyl source, thanks to various sources who donated. Not perfect but clearer in the challenging loud chorus.
LYRICS:-
Black is for the nighttime
Preys upon the day
Red is for the blood that flows
Like rivers in our veins
Gray is for betrayal
What you did to me
White is for the blinding light
That I know I'll never see
Know I'll never see
Found you in the gutter
You needed tenderness
I gave you everything I had
I gave you all my trust
Planned it out so neatly
Caught me in your trap
When I needed you the most
You stab me in the back
Stab me in the back
Better luck, better luck
Better luck next time
If you do it once, you’ll never do it a second time
Better luck, better luck
Better luck next time
Find somebody else, you're never gonna be mine
How did you find the nerve
To lie right to my face?
How do you find the nerve?
Black is for the nighttime
Preys upon the day
Red is for the blood that flows
Like rivers in our veins
I try and find excuses
For what you did to me
Can't forget that burning rage
When I wake up thinking of your face
For the blinding sweetness of revenge
That I know I'll never see
Know I'll never see
Better luck, better luck
Better luck next time
If you do it once, you’ll never do it a second time
Better luck, better luck
Better luck next time
Find somebody else, you're never gonna be mine
Better luck, better luck
Better luck next time
How did you find the nerve
To lie right to my face?
How did you find the nerve?
Better luck, better luck
Better luck next time

This song was in the 1982 movie Last American virgin.....Its 2021....and I haven't heard this song since the 80s. ......Miss it...
That damn Karen!
@@skylyfe3382 I know.....LOL 😁😆😆
THIS ONE GOES SO HARD!! I wonder why they didn’t release it :’(
Hi !! I don't know if you already know this, but it's actually a bonus track!! It's only available in the 2021 CD!! (I think it's also on vinyl??) ^ ^
Oh I see, thank you for the info!
they did, its on The Last American Virgin soundtrack
@@titanicf0gOnly flick I ever heard it in. I don't even recall it getting airplay but I was a preteen.
It’s so weird how some of the best Boingo tracks were never released! This one, “All the Pieces,” “Elementary Physics,” “Teenage Monster,” “Louise” (my personal favorite!)
holy fuck i am so happy to be alive right now
real
this is the best thing that could happen in my birthday
I’m sorry if I’m late, but happy birthday fellow listener!
little late, but happy birthday
@@cooliofoods4132 awww thank you!
@@P0Pdart thankss!
I got Happy for my birthday.
possibly the best song in existence honestly
Man I just want this uploaded on other streaming services. 😅 This has to be one of my favorite Oingo Boingo tracks. If not my favorite.
This song hits hard after a bad night
This is fantastic!! What a catchy chorus...also dig the simple but mesmerizing sax riff.
Relating to the lyrics is realizing I've got issues, and I just love this song more as a coping mechanism
Fr! Funny how I found this song rn, when it hurts the most. Seeing someone else relating to the lyrics helps the pain a bit.
I thank my lucky stars Last American Virgin introduced me to this song because outside the movie I never heard it on the radio during the 80s.
This song is incredible!
I love oingo boingo band the music is so good and fired just really cool band this is the top,of my favorite songs from them
I’m gonna guess the reason this song wasn’t included on the album is because of “Running on a Treadmill.” I personally find both of these songs to have similar style. So maybe there was a point in time where they were choosing between “Better Luck Next Time” and “Running on a Treadmill” and went with the ladder. Again, this is just a guess.
I have a feeling Running On a Treadmill was written quickly to fill in when this song was cut. There may have been some obscure reason like if Danny was commissioned for an original song for the movie it was used in, but didnt have time to produce one so sold this instead. It was definitely planned to be on the album late game
glad this got released on the 2021 version of the album. classic boingo shenanigans
It was released back at the time on a movie soundtrack album but the master tape gone missing, so the recent CD release had to be a vinyl rip
this is sooo refreshing to scream sing walking home after drinking
Nevermind guys im fine now It gets better
Nevermind again borderline personality disorder exists
All boingo fans are like this i bet... including me
listening to this after finally leaving that one person. love this song ❤❤❤
this song truly has it all: he groan tube sounding ass synth*, the horns, tinkly bell xylophone, the guitar going ham, Danny wailing 💯 *chef kiss* 💯👏👏👏👏😩
*idk it might not be synth, I am not a musician
AMAZING ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Awesome! Thanks so much Boingo Tapes (whoever you are, seriously, thanks)
Awesome!❤️❤️❤️
YES!!!!!!!! ONE OF MY FAVES!!!!!!!
One of my faves! :) 🩵
Perfection
I'll never understand why certain songs get left off of albums. This is better than like seven of the songs on Nothing To Fear
@@bull829 This was a very odd choice. I can only guess the rights were bought exclusively for the movie it was featured in the background. Not the best decision!
@@OingoBoingoTapes Oh that actually makes some sense
that saxophone sounding I'd let it break my eardrums
ooohhhhh mann.... ooouuhhhgggg.....
Really wish they had released this with the album.
someone help this guy i have this on repeat 💀
😂
THIS SONG IS SO
ITS STILL SO
The official movie soundtrack band of the 80's
I love this one so much -- THANKS :)
Thank you entirely for this amazing upload ♥️
This slaps, as the kids say
YEEEEESSSSSS THANK YOU SO MUCH
GOES INSANE
Its a banger, especially for '82.
Comparing them both back to back, I personally much prefer the sound of this remaster to the Rubellan Remaster version. Sounds warmer and more body to it.
Hella relateable song
Criminal to be left off
omg I love this! This is now my second favorite oingo boingo song
What’s your first?

I'm sure you already know this but, the plain white t's have a cover of this song and it's real good
WAAAAHAHHHHH THIS IZ SO GOOD AND TASTY WAAAAAHHHH WHY DIDN'T TNEY RELEASE THIEB
WHY DIDNT THEY RELEASE THIS
Think they just released it specifically for the Last American Virgin movie soundtrack
aughh auhggghjhh ahhhh
I wonder how you find those rare unreleased tracks…
As a jjba fan this is even better
did you get a dub of the mastertape provided to Rubellan Remasters
No this is unrelated, and also sadly the master tape for this song confirmed lost according to what they posted online. Unrelated to the UMG fire. Their CD track is another vinyl rip.
@@OingoBoingoTapes Interesting; I'll be sure to compare the two.
@@raspberry1440kb Ive listened to it and it’s a better source, it has more high frequencies intact whereas this one has clearer bass. If only the song had been wider released back in the day
Rubellan Remasters doxxed a child. Are you sure you want to send this to him?
@@friendsofgregly884 ?
why was this put on unlisted??
It’s now commercially available again
so glad i didn’t kill myself
Worse luck this time
This song was in the TV ad for The Last American Virgin and the only reason I went to see that movie. I hated it. Seeing it as an middle- aged man, the downbeat ending seems a lot more realistic. Still a shit movie though. Not a likeable or sympathetic character to be found.
The soundtrack though
😦
